ake this with a grain of salt since this review is for csci 50.01 but there's no thread for sir diy teaching 50.01 so ill post here LOL

- 2 onsite sessions per week
teaching style
- sir calls on random people for recitation using index cards every session. usually the answer is in the ppt / something he said a few seconds before
- the only time he counts ur cuts is when he calls u for recitation n ur not present
- he's very particular during lts. i wrote buses and got marked wrong. the right answer is bus LOL (sets of wires and set of wires is different nmn daw kasi)
- he gives a lot of examples as an attempt to dumb it down for us since 50.01 focuses a lot on concepts
workload/requirements
- has pop quizzes (pls dont cut lol) and gives seatworks randomly
- requires recitation (part of ur grade)
- 3 lts and it's departmental
- no homework at all
overall thoughts
- sir is very knowledgeable on the topics. i asked for a consultation n he was able to dumb down the topics cuz i think he could tell i was somewhat struggling. he had to repeat something maybe 2-3x and gave me different examples to make sure i understood the concept
- sir likes to make himself appear "mean" but in reality hes very nice, funny, and sweet HAHAHAHA
- sir's also a big nerd for video games n anime (u will notice that in his slidesets HAHAHHA)
- take him hes really fun, just make sure to study well because he's really particular in gradingmore

to add, the requirements consist of asynchronous recitations (like discussion boards with test-like questions, but in groups), 2 long tests (probably done on blue moodle bc canvas sucks), game pitch document, game design document, and game design document defense. i had these while working on two big org projects, but it didn't feel like it was killing me haha so definitely a manageable workload.
there is no coding in this course! it's all very conceptual game design, with a bit of math here and there (stuff like game theory and theorycrafting).
he replies to emails really quickly and is considerate naman! doesn't ever shoot you down, and the lectures are always entertaining.
some lessons are questionable nga lang on the sociopolitical side of games, i.e. topics might be a bit dated, but idk if he has control over that-- he acknowledges its dated-ness naman.

he’s fun naman, as expected for a discs prof:) just had the class this intersession. he modeled his canvas page to look like moodle so it might be a little jarring at first. he posts all as in All course materials sa start ng sem tho so u won’t be lost or anything!!
lectures r ok naman he explains well and tries to relate to games everyone knows. i personally don’t play a lot of games but I didn’t feel super lost on the references! and he welcomes questions naman and goes in-depth when needed:^)
get good groupmates tho for the game pitch and defense ehehe cc:more

OMG SUPER SOLID sir david is a real one!!!! discs profs are always 11/10 HAHHAHA had him for a lec+lab class and i was nervous to do one during online school but he made it super manageable! always returns grades and feedback early so you know how well you’re doing in class! he’s super approachable for any questions or consultations. overall my friends and i who took his class (some even got him as a prof more than once) will vouch i can pm u if u wanna know more!!:>more

But he kinda assumes you have background knowledge on the topics and goes through them fast (maybe cuz it was intercession). he’s basically a nerd gamer and at times might be mean due to his sarcasm/meme-ing and hate when reiterating things twice.more

very! His tests are easy as long as you listen or read the slides. He makes the class fun by citing his stories abt his games and sometimes making you think of your own examples to understand better.
Under his game design classes I had an average grade of around B-B+, admittedly because I slacked off a bit during some timesmore

Classic DISCS prof who is a nerd on video games. I took the same class for intersession and it was handled pretty well! The slidedecks are full of references to anime and video games but they are easily digestible. Be prepared for some topics that are a bit confusing but he will make time to answer your questions.
