(copy pasted my comment from another post) ngl Gementiza is not THAT bad. He's rlly annoying most of the time but I tune him out. Most of his classes are just rants. but I survived js half or not listening. I reco being his class officer tho! it's a bit annoying but you get a grade bump. his instructions are super gulo and he gaslights tf out of his students. you have to be really by the book/ example w him esp in the storyboard I reco u find good groupmates or be very argumentative urself cause u really have to fight for ur life presenting w him 😭 legit even if it's there he'll find new things to criticise or suddenly change the rules/ instructions. be preprepared to fight back nalang basta u know ur right!! legit yung never back down never give up sakanya cause he'll grade low af if not (fight until siya mag sawa 😭) he'll rlly drive u crazy at the end of the sem but his workload is not that heavy. just like some activities in moodle (crammable in like 1hr ish if u speed run) we also didn't use canvas we use moodle which is like a website and a bit hassle to use. his tests are online but onsite you'll go to rizlib to take the test and he's so strict w it. we had 4 quizzes (iirc), just browse through the moodle and answer the things there, most of his quiz questions come from the sample quiz at the end of each module so thats what I studied lang. he's also v v strict on attendance na legit he has 2 attendance officers lmao but if ur in bel he'll give you +10 mins to be present and after 30 mins you'll be late na. he's so strict w attendance that we spent like 30 mins on zoom finding who left the meeting. also his views din are so conservative so if u can't ignore that don't take him cause maiinis ka lang and it's no use arguing w him TLDR: He's annoying, so gulo, be his class officer, but ok workload (coming from a tamad-ish person) GL if u take him find good and combative groupmates if u can! he is not A able imo maybe B or B+ (if ur lucky) alsoo! idk if it was bc of the heatwave but the latter part of the sem was online i like around 10-ish sessions? so we didn't see him the last month - month 1/2 of the class. final presentation was done online over zoom LAST, he's not that a-able na kasi he says that Ateneo is strict daw with giving A's to students so most prob you'll get B or B+ (iirc his a is 97)more

i was able to get an A even if his A is a 97% its just a try not to get ragebaited challenge lol (even argued with him infront of our class) aim for a 22-23/25 for every quiz. there are four quizzes for the entire sem. the quizzes are taken in the library onsite on the computers during class time and theyre based off the moodle modules. i recommend u make comprehensive notes out of the moodle pages and review these notes. some questions can be tricky but ngl the quizzes are not that hard super kaya the midterm and the final is basically a game output based on ur nstp experience on this site called h5p. he is very nitpicky and will berate ur output if its not good with this so my protip is to ASK HIM FOR A SAMPLE GAME and copy talaga the flow of the game and stuff. write a good plot that integrates the 4 parts of the pastoral cycle smoothly. and the rubrics is gonna be ur bff. FOLLOW IT POINT BY POINT. for example he wants labels (its stated sa rubrics) SO ADD THESE LABELS TALAGA cs he will really point out everything that wasnt followed sa rubrics. we ended with a 94% in our game output just by really following the sample game sir showed us. addtly try to be an officer (there r multiple positions) and do ur best sa recits. the recit questions r honestly rly chill like “what is module 2.6 all about” (its randomized tho spin the wheel) so just read the moodle pages before hand cs theres so much bonus points from this like thats how i reached an A also DO ALL THE FORMATIVE ACTIVITIES on moodle theyre super easy but ayun its part of the grade but theyre just like testing if u read the module and u can retake them as much as u want lmk if u have more questionsmore

I had Gementiza for Theo 12 and I must say that the reviews here do not lie. However, based on my experience, he does not always grade as badly as described as long as you follow the instructions (which i acknowledge is a difficult thing to understand). I wouldn’t say that the course per se is hard, in fact most exercises are games and activities in Moodle. It just takes patience and effort to complete everything but I don’t think it’s actually academically challenging. For the quizzes, he is very strict when it comes to integrity but as long as you study, you’ll be fine. Some questions are indeed tricky and the quizzes hold much weight given that his A is 97. Meanwhile, recitations are mostly easy as long as you keep up with the Moodle and watch the documentaries or read the readings (some docu and articles are actually interesting). I ended up getting an A in his class but it took so much effort in the final project and making the most out of all the possible bonus points. I personally have commented here before while still in his class motivated by my frustrations. However, looking back, I would have still taken his class despite not being the most ideal prof. I also think that his perspectives allow you to assess where you truly stand as a person, although I hope he (and even us) become more open to other people’s perspectives.more

groupmate nia here. Anglala talaga nung 30 min zoom call na yun bc he was ranting about things we’ve all informed him of in advance MULTIPLE TIMES IN FTF CLASSES!!! Anyway, gadgets are allowed in class naman so do your best not to listen to him nalang HAHAHAHAHA everything in the quizzes are in moodle and i only read through the coverage an hour before his quizzes and got decent grades (do the minigames when you review because the quizzes have similar questions) Try to group with your friends bc u’ll def need a venting session after his classes <3more

Hello, also a victim here. I completely agree with you. No other prof has the demonic ability to induce ragebait onto his students in the way and extent he can. As a note of encouragement, having sir will make you appreciate every other prof 🫶 His online quizzes arent bad, and his practice exercises (in the form of online games) Are fun also!more

I'd say his class is an easy B. He's A-able if you have it in you to finish his work early and memorize the modules for his quizzes. But his class experience is just not great. He's very strict with attendance and will not be lenient with student requests.more

it’s possible to get an A with gementiza! i locked in for all his quizzes + recit. everything he says in class + the site he uses appears, no surprise info. our group lowkey bombed the final presso (as said in other reviews, you never know exactly what he wants and he kinda js grills everyone—he’s never satisfied), but i genuinely think it was my individual performance that made up for it. that being said, i wouldn’t take him again if it were up to me js because having him during a heavy sem is not ideal, BUT if you were to thug it out and really lock in, you can get high!! it’s not impossible :>>more

My hairline receded after taking Gementiza. Take him if you genuinely hate yourself or if you want to turn off your brain and become a drone. His teachings were nonsensical (as others mentioned) and as shallow as a junior high Christian Living class. His standards were just as ridiculous. He would have no problem yelling at students for not being able to follow his unclear instructions. Limiting us to only using Moodle for the midterm and final output was also a terrible experience. He specifically wanted us to use the H5P function in Moodle, but it was an ultra-budget version with practically no capabilities compared to the samples you might find on YouTube. For those choosing to make a visual novel or similar outputs, you'd find that even Canva would be easier to use. For those who already picked him and can't shift out, now is the time to rekindle your faith.more

I DO NOT recommend RIVERO C. GEMENTIZA for THEO 12. He grades pretty harshly especially with final projects. He is also pretty quick to anger and loses patience really easily. The class is mostly self-studying as he just uploads a bunch of modules you have to read in your own time. You could try to read the syllabus to get ahead but that's quite hard to do too as most of it is really difficult to understand. TL;DR In my opinion, if you can avoid him, please do.more

Just to briefly echo my peers (and I definitely agree to this), he is bigoted. I took him in my online class. He is bigoted such that he had a transphobic rant. Then, though I do agree to academic integrity, I did not appreciate his hyperfixation trying to make online set-ups "cheat-free" or his minutes dedicated to taking attendance and commenting on why this person is not here. And he does not score well in the major projects. The moodle, despite it being gamified, was messy. Finally, in spite of his attitude, he is not very engaging in discussions. I'd hate to sound unappreciative of teachers but go for professors who are understanding and/or who really engage with students in lessons. There are professors who are strict but are worth taking because of how straight-to-the-point the lessons are. He is certainly not one of those.more

Bro you are so cooked. The group presentations were nothing but nitpicked criticisms, and even if we did everything he asked, he would still somehow find the tiniest error and go on and on about it. He also wants you to align only with his own views and beliefs so dont even think about critical thinking in this class because it feels like genuine goyslop lol. This guy is the most unreasonable "professor" out there and a genuine waste of my parent's hard earned money that paid for that mfs salary. I took Sir Evert during my first sem in second year and all I can say is that it was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life. He would nitpick and criticize every presentation, have God-awful admin and organizational skills, and blame everything he did wrong on YOU. I wish there were kind things I could say to help lighten your mood but I have nothing nice to say about this man after he made me, and my entire group cry after yelling at us for 30 mins in an impromptu 10PM Zoom Call.more

in the best way possible kapalan mo lang mukha mo and you will be fine. in terms of grades his quizzes arent that difficult and so are his activities. all of the items in his quizzes are just copied from moodle (his learning platform) and theres even sample test for you which he gets a lot of his questions from so js remember the answer there! get good groupmates too bc hes very nitpicky and disrespectful and he wont be scared to judge your group output in front of ur entire class. he also doesnt care to name drop in class so just as much as possible be an officer or be sipsip. ngl he isn’t that bad if you’re a person who doesn’t get angered easily, literally just don’t get ragebaited by him and you’ll do well. goodluck!more
