Chill Tableau walkthrough, light but sequential reqs

okay so i should have gone back to this immediately after the sem but here we go HAHAHA Data Viz as a subject teaches you basics of data viz dos and don'ts and a walkthrough on Tableau Prep Builder and Tableau Desktop. Not sure if this will be the same software that you will use but the main takeaway is how to properly clean data and translate them into a clear, engaging, and insightful visualization. For sir Abe's class, it is chill and light-placed. I agree with the previous review that it can get draggy at times but that is because he tends to go step by step slowly and surely with what needs to be discussed. And my class is 5 to 7pm as well so the timeslot is usually tiring. Requirements are due at the end of the sem but you cannot proceed to the next requirement without finishing the previous one. Soft deadlines are set to pace you though. The course and the class is definitely non-CS major friendly (speaking as a non-CS major), and getting an A is possible. :)) He also considers esp the seniors if you are vying for latin honors; you just have to inform him. 😌 For those taking CSC 117i, good luck and have fun. It's a good and stress-free subject 😌more

[Note: He was my prof for the course year 2024, might’ve missed out on some stuff but his class was memorable for me in a good way] For me it was a chill yet insightful class. He makes the lessons digestible, is direct to the point, and provides examples. He provided us videos that are easy to follow along with activities to do to test our skills in Tableau. Also very open to consultations. Got an A in his class with effort. I suggest consulting to get a high grade. When it comes to grading I’d say he’s fair, if you are able to show the requirements for a task then you’ll score high and if otherwise, expect some minor deductions. Don’t worry about this though as the course is easy to follow and friendly even to those with zero experience with Tableau (like me).more

I took his class last sem lang. What really helped me a lot was the fact that the requirements were all due by the end of the sem. The deadlines are just placeholders to guide you. Three major requirements but they are pretty light as long as you listen well in his sync classes. They can be done individually or group. His sync classes can get dragging. They are usually two hours and my sched was 5-7pm pa naman so I was usually tired. But that's because sir goes though the steps slowly which really helps especially since I'm not a CS major. Overall, it's a really good IE. You should be fine. A-ablemore

But overall profs from DISCS are super nice and understanding 😄 I took this class under Ma’am Hannah and it’s super fun and interesting and will probably still use the same materials so good luck!!!more

Taking his Wednesday, 6-9 schedule this sem and I'd say he's chill and kind! He doesn't use up the 3 hours so we're usually dismissed na by 8 PM. We switch to online or async often as well. In terms of grading, idk kasi he hasn't returned any of our scores :((. Workload is very light tbh mostly lab exercises using Tableau (by trios). Though we haven't gotten our grades, and may final presentation pa, I would definitely recommend sir!more
