Hard tabten practicals but fatherly and fun

negative
  • Retake?Yes
table tennis is actually my second class with Coach Mac; ngl, I had a love-hate relationship with him HAHA. Ayun lang talaga, cons ko sa kaniya is he expects his classes (lalo na for men) na dapat alam na ‘yung sport mismo (knows the fundamentals na agad-agad), and from September to December, parang finals talaga HAHA — I'm telling you na ang challenging ng mga practicals niya but super fun! Every practicals niya parang minute to win it ang peg. Mas mahirap nga lang ang tabten kaysa sa vball (which was my first class w him). Pero mas nangibabaw ‘yung pros niya. Agree w na he gives off fatherly vibes; puwede kayong mag-asaran and super focus niya sa mga forms namin and the like. Negotiations are the key rin when it comes to practicals; he gives extra points/credits lalo na if you do well in practicals. He also offers extra attempts sa practicals if may failed attempts ka (pero depende sa mood niya HAHA). Above all, Coach Mac’s classes are challenging and demanding pero super fun talaga; remembering those days na gusto ko pang mag-extend ng time kasi super limited ng playing time. Got an A sa two classes niya, but getting an A sa tabten was really hard, considering 95 na ang A niya during our time. That said, hard A (but he curves hehe).more

Challenging swim class with the most demanding timed assessments

negative
  • WorkloadHeavy
Yey, he's back! I'm not sure how he will treat the new class because he just came from a health concern (kaya nasa table tennis siya for the past sems). Pero from our class (all male), it was challenging. It is beginner friendly, yes. Actually, I was not a beginner but literal noob, but after taking him I can now flex freestyles, backstrokes, and butterflies (but are still bad forms). It was challenging because compared to other swimming sections, we had the most demanding assessments. 1. Midterm is a 20 laps freestyle under 20 mins 2. Finals is a 4 laps with each lap having different strokes under 4 mins. If you got like 20:01 or 4:01, that'a already an F. But surprise surprise, I got F on both assessments. I took a makeup exam (where I performed both assessments lol), I performed better, but still failed because I was overtime for around 3 secs. Surprise surprise, I got a B!more

Chill RecAc, shocked by the curve-down

Had him for RecAc. The activities submitted were vvv chill, yet the effort I put into making quality output during the online setup was serious. This is me not being too narcissistic, but I **used to** have fun in that class and **used to** like the prof; but damn, I was just so shocked at the grades by its release—it was literally the lowest subject I had. Like, when you are very very surprised that a strict prof curves up a grade, I felt that, but this time very very surprised that a chill prof curves *down* a grade haha. Anyway, same rules do not apply since that was RecAc, and this is volleyball. But if he is like this in a non-physical sport, it makes you think on how he can possibly be... Best wishes,!more

Learn the strokes and breathing or assessments hurt

neutral
if u're grade conscious and lack endurance, coach mac will be a problem cause I think you're the batch where PE grades are counted in the QPI. If not, take him. You'll learn the strokes if you take the class seriously, you'll learn how to swim, and you'll not die. The real challenge is on how you can master, or at least perform with the right movements, the STROKES and BREATHING given the short amount of time. Kasi performing them skillfully will make the assessments ez pzmore

coach asajar was rly fun tbh. really chill and accommodating for newcomers and experienced swimmers alike. Beginners are guided while advanced are given workouts! Very approachable and always is fun every session tbh. Finals was a inter-class competition which seems intimidating but its just a fun time overall!more

Self-defense under Sir Richard is super fun, don't overcut

Self-defense under Sir Richard is super fun :) Be ready to learn how to perform chokes, headlocks, dislocations, etc. It's just that this class is usually very early in the morning, so be careful not to overcut, because he does drop studentsmore

Orienteering is Amazing Race every week

Orienteering is like an amazing race every week!! If the whole class finishes the activity fast, he dismisses the class an hour early or so.

Strict with guys, high grades if you hold up

mixed
  • 4.0 attainableYes
I think there’s a certain difference of his teaching styles in girl and boy classes. He is more lenient on girls but not so much for the guys. Took table tennis and he is very strict with a lot of practicals involved! He grades high though as long as you don’t submit to the pressure. Cons for guys: gets mad if you’re not good enough parang coach talaga, also keen on attendance so don’t be late or absent.more

Coach Mac gives off very fatherly vibes! -A lot of practicals, I tell you. -Difficult to achieve high scores, especially with the serving practical tests. -I took his 7 AM class, and I've been late many times, but I think he's not that strict unless absences. -I was shocked when I saw the box and whisker plots for the grades because he curved our grades so high! Overall, an easy B+ (but only a few of us got an A). Tagging my PE partner hehe 🏓more

Intimidating at times, but guides beginners well

I'm currently taking a class with him 😊 Sometimes he can be intimidating, mostly when he notices any incorrect movements. But it is important that you listen to him because he wants you to learn the best and easy way to execute the sport. No worries if you are a beginner because he will definitely guide you and give a number of chance for you to get a perfect score in an activity. Just don't forget to be on time, answer the 2 quizzes on canvas immediately, and always wear your pe uniform. Other than that, you should not be pressured or worried because you are definetely gonna make friends and enjoy the class.more

Had him for table tennis and i recommend him!! Hes super duper chill😎 i have never tried table tennis before yet i thoroughly enjoyed his class cos i rlly got to learn :> i suggest u take table tennis w a friend because he asks u to choose your partner for the entire sem na. For the doubles games, he pairs someone from group a and someone from grp b. I guess the only con is his modules on canvas r super gulo :/also dont be fooled by the flex label on table tennis! All of our sessions were onsitemore

Tito vibes, lenient deadlines, only two Canvas quizzes

positive
  • Retake?Yes
  • WorkloadLight
I was his beadle for table tennis last semester and all I can say is that he's got that tito vibes that will make you enjoy his classes (for me at least). He's also very lenient with deadlines, and he only assigned us 2 asynchronous canvas quizzes. He gives is these tasks usually 2 to 3 weeks before the deadline so you'll have plenty of time to accomplish them. He also puts a lot of focus on how you execute certain movements and he points out and corrects even the slightest mistakes in your movements. Not sure how this would translate in recreational activities but there's really nothing you should worry about. He's a cool prof overall but this would be his last semester teachingmore
