had them for bioethics this semester! here’s my thoughts. tl;dr: take them! the course is really insightful & there are only a few requirements.
📌 LECTURES
- they both use and upload their powerpoints. they also upload the readings for the modules, but i personally didn't read it because the powerpoints are already comprehensive
- sir ivan & sir ac usually takes turns in giving lectures! some meetings it would be sir ivan, other meetings it would be sir ac
- sir ivan is really clear & concise when discussing the powerpoint so i suggest listening to him so that there’s less content to study/review for
- sir ac’s lectures are a bit draggy (especially for me who has a short attention span) but you can really tell that he's passionate about the topic!
📌 REQUIREMENTS
- for the semester, we had: 2 reflection papers, 4 quizzes, 1 infographic/poster, 1 annotated bibliography, 1 final research paper
- the reflection papers are based on a question regarding the module (e.g.: “Are the Nazi experiments a necessary evil for the Nuremberg Code and Declaration of Helsinki?”). there’s no page or word limit so it’s really just you sharing what you know based on the module
- the quizzes are every after end of the module. it’s onsite & purely multiple choice (i don't know if that’ll change this semester) but the content per module is pretty long so i suggest to start studying a few days before the exam.
- for the final project, we (randomized groupings, no peer evals) had to choose a historical case study with a bioethical issue and create an annotated bibliography about it. after that, we also had to make an infographic and a full blown research paper about it (10 pages minimum). these three constitutes 50% of your grade, while the quizzes are 25% and the reflection papers are 25%
📌 GRADING
- honestly, i didn't know my class standing until the end of the semester because apart from the quizzes and annotated bibliography, they didn't release any of the scores
- however, from what i saw, sir ac tends to grade higher than sir ivan! i'm not sure what sir ivan was looking for in the reflection paper, but he graded a lot of people within the line of 8 😅 meanwhile, sir ac was generous enough to grade people 89 and above. tbh, better to ask what sir ivan wants to see in the beginning of the class!
- overall, i liked this class because the topics are interesting and i learned a lot. B+ able but A-able if you know sir ivan’s standards!more

Hi op! Got an A from Sir AC last sem without doing any of the bonus point activities nor did I finish all the readings, here’s how I did it:
- Definitely not an easy A, you have to genuinely work for it like it’s ur major hahah
- WORK WITH UR CLASSMATES!!! I cannot stress this enough. Form a group you can review the readings with after or before discussing it in class, and esp before the exams.
- Focus on being able to reference certain authors of the readings during the tests, this helped me so much even if u don’t memorize the entirety of the content of the reading, just find 1-2 key points u can ride on when u reference the author. I recommend u do this for at least 3-4 authors per exam.
- His tests are very essay heavy, with some multiple choice and true or false. Most of the points come from the essay, so practice writing the prompts he gives on canvas prior to the test.
- Lastly, ENJOY SIR AC’S CLASS!!! I had such a fun time listening to how passionate he is about history and his little insights and comments :)
He only grades strict because he values the importance of what he’s teaching, and he wants to make sure you know what you’re talking about too. One of the best profs I’ve had so far, would absolutely take him again even if getting that A was a challenge.

Ok siya as a prof and as a lecturer. Tbh you don’t even have to read the readings as long as you listen in class. He places an importance on the essay in the LT so it’s essential to be able to provide a good synthesis of his discussions.
Light requirements too. 2 LT’s, 2 Individual Papers, 1 Short Paper on a Museum Visit and Groupwork. Exemption for B+ and above for the final exam.
Would recommend. He was my only class every Monday and Friday. Magaling siya magturo so pumapasok ako. Hahahmore

Yes A-able with A LOOOOT OF EFFORT! He likes organized and well-written papers + you need to learn how to support all your insights with external resources or he’ll grade a lil low. Once you understand how he grades/what he’s looking for (he says it naman in synch sesh + canvas), then there’s no need to worry na abt ur following papers 😁

had him for histo 11 last sem! he’s super passionate and knowledgeable abt the topics which translates rin into his lectures! i think we had 4 papers overall and a few discussion boards—relatively managable naman as long as you don’t cram them:’) his grading standards are a bit high pero i wouldn’t say na he grades super low or unfairly naman! i’d say b+ is attainable w some effort, a if you’re really good at writing! learned a lot from sir ac tho!

his lectures are super interesting!! it's better if u read up on the modules before syncs since he summarizes a lot of info to make the session more fulfilling.
for reqs, he gives 4 papers with a decent amount of lead time before deadlines. all of the papers are a bit heavy on reading if u want good scores too. you're also supposed to read pretty long texts as part of the modules. i think you can skim through a lot of them, but u can use these to emphasize your arguments on your papers. he grades high as long as your paper is backed by the assigned texts.
A-able for sure with effort (on a manageable workload)! also write your essays with a clear argument and cite sources properly :))more

He's a new prof! He's A-able with effort! B+ if minimal effort. Upside is he grades papers pretty high, and his LTs aren't so hard. His LTs have identification tests and the bulk of it will be an essay question. (He sends the essay questions beforehand so you can study for them) He also gives lots of bonus questions and bonus opportunities which is cool too. Downside is he was LATE almost every meeting and he always dismissed AFTER second bell. (Which is UNACCEPTABLE, He had no respect for our time) But towards the latter part of the semester he started to come on time. Also, his voice is kind of shrill so it might sound like nails on a chalkboard until you get used to it. He also doesn't pace classes well (spends too long on one topic and it eats up too much time) But overall he's a pretty nice prof. On our second LT, we asked for more bonus questions, and he gave some. 😊⚡more

Hello!! I had him onsite for one of my majors. TLDR he's very passionate about what he's teaching but his lectures can be very draining at times.
- Long lectures and handwritten notes. Sir doesn't allow you to use your gadgets (only if an activity calls for it if he deems it so)
- prepare a lot of ballpens bc the lectures have a lot of key notes and information
- REMEMBER YOUR CITATIONS AND READ YOUR READINGS
- get good groupmates or partner (for pair works if ever)
- important for you to consult with him on your works because he'll be guiding you naman (very important if you want a high grade in some requirements)
- Best to be on time but there's a grace period naman (just don't accumulate lates outside of it)
overall sir ac is a good prof albeit the long lectures. B-able namanmore

I had Sir AC for HISTO 11 (online, unfortunately). You are in good hands. You can easily tell he is passionate about the subject, which is a HUGE plus for me, imo, because it made the lecture so much more enjoyable and engaging.
For HISTO 11, I recall having 3 major assessments in the form of essays (2 source analyses, 1 critical review of a primary source). I always, always looked forward to his comments! Though do keep in mind he is very particular about citations.

He’s so funny and I genuinely enjoyed his classes. Also, he gives a LOT of bonus points for his exams as in A LOT. We got bonus points if we could name people in our class (since we were from diff courses an blocks). As well as movie/theater play reviews as bonus opportunities. At the end of each exam, he also gives bonus point questions (around 10!) about pop culture or random history facts. All my bonus points lowk accumulated to like 15 points alone
Just remember to READ the READINGS! All the answers are there. He even gives out a list of questions that could pop up in the exam in advance. Citations and naming authors is v important too ( i think it’s a part of the rubrics ). Study groups helped a lot since we would just answer all the qs beforehand and review the answers in case they’d show up in the exam.

hiii honestly super doable! the essays are usually based off of statements given ahead of time so prepare for ALL of them (like you would in Theo or Philo orals).
for the objective type, like everyone said, read the readings hehe.
tip - make a class reviewer. I think so many of us got an A or a B+ as our final grade in the course cause we studied together. good luck!more
