Take Cox for COMM 20 or COMM 26 if you want an approachable, discussion-heavy professor who grades papers and presentations rather than long tests, and you will read the slides or modules and recite now and then. Lean away only if you need a lecture that never stays on the slides, or you will not speak or read at all. Sample is five unique writeups, all positive.

Hi Ally hehe Ma’am is my thesis adviser and was my prof for Media Studies (COMM 120)!
Engagement is key to navigating her lectures and workload, which I’ve enjoyed equally. She values her students’ input and the takeaways they gain from both class sessions and modules (which are some of the neatest I’ve seen on Canvas 🥰). Sessions are conversational, so keeping the ball rolling is also an essential role on your end. If she posts discussion boards, I suggest that you answer all of them or as much as you can to stock up on participation points.
She grades generously with comments on your DB answers and helpful feedback for your outputs. She also responds promptly to questions and concerns. As per the other review, creativity is a definite plus in her subjects, as well. So feel free to do whatever’s necessary to spruce up your projects.

super vouch for ma’am cox! i had her for comm 20 and i enjoyed her class a lot. she’s really organized in both her onsite lectures and on canvas, and she always gives meaningful feedback on your work/presentations
our main requirements were groupworks, presentations, and individual papers. we didn’t have any quizzes/exams/discussion boards but she likes it when you recite in class! but she won’t pressure you to recite if you don’t want to
overall she’s very approachable and her lectures are interesting. also try setting consultations with her regarding your papers, groupworks, etc bc she likes to give feedback! she also replies to emails v quickly. easy A + fun prof for sure!!more

had her for COMM 20! very approachable and understanding. she was very gracious about adjusting deadlines as well as addressing any concerns my class had. she’s a very discussion heavy prof which is actually not that bad since she accepts all sorts of input that a student may share and she doesn’t judge. just make sure to recite every now and then as it really helps with deepening your knowledge on the subject. if you put in the effort, an A or B grade is very possible! just read the material well and understand its practical application as she focuses on that a lot.

For context: i know someone who got an A and someone who got a B+, they have almost the same grade for everything, EXCEPT the person who got an A accomplished ALL the discussion logs, while the student who got a B+ only accomplished majority of the logs but not all!

Had her for COMM 20 and in general, she's a nice prof! She just has a tendency to read off of the slides and make kwento during class so I would advise you to read the modules provided on Canvas if you really want to learn the stuff in depth (big tip din ito for passing her theory critique papers!). She also loves to engage with the class and ask people questions. She will most likely call for group presentations din and as long as you're creative, she grades pretty high. Overall, pretty easy A siya. Enjoy her class :DDmore

super sweet prof and super approachable!! you can talk to her easily and usually get a B/B+ in her class, A with a bit more effort. be sure to read the syllabus and the slide deck so you can recite during lectures (recitations kasi are afaik 10% of ur grade) but trust na ur in good hands with doc. cox. ps pretty understanding siya if ever yall need extensions (pero dapat valid talaga)more
