Camille Salipsip 🥹🫶 get good groupmates!! mas nakakabaliw pa kase there were prev reviews warning about these "revisions" 😭😭 now we know!! just dont be afraid to speak up to maam if she forgets (cuz she will) or misinterpret details about your paper. pati with your groupmates, make sure everyone is on the same page and consistently thinking about the paper kase its gonna be your group vs maam (jk 1/2)more

Had her for COMM24 which was (surprisingly) a very research adjacent class. She was really unorganized and gives grades/feedback really late. Almost every meeting was a reporting and there were barely any lectures and when there were any the examples she would use would be very farfetched and made things even more hard to understand 😭😭more

GOATED PROF!! His classes are always so engaging, interesting, and inclusive! He goes over all the topics in a way that's easily digestible, and you can ask any type of question, and he'll be glad to answer! He will never get mad if you have a differing opinion - he'll only engage in actual good conversation, while understanding both sides of the argument. You'll primarily have group presentations as the requirements. There aren'y any exams, and even the finals was a mode agreed upon by the class. Keep in mind the that the Beadle has a lot of responsibility, though, as you'll be doing attendance, and also a lot of other things pertinent to the requirements. He's very kind, though, so don't stress about it!more

Honestly, easy a but heavy af workload 😭 if you like presentations maybe you would enjoy her class because you have to present almost every session Personally, didn't learn anything from her class. From what i remember she only has 1 lesson where she "teaches" which is the at the start of each module (theres like 5 modules i think? so you only hear her doing a lecture 5 times in the sem) Everything after that is you and your other classmates presenting stuff that isn't really covered well in her lectures (you really have to do your own research for the presentations) And yes she is super magulo/unorganized! Even though it was an easy A, I wouldn't put myself through that again HAHAH imo sayang tuition fee ko with her class 🥲more

A more current review for incoming juniors, i didn't take her for research so this reviews only for COMM 23 and 24. If by some insane chance you get the opportunity to have another prof teach those subjects, take it. I wanna be impartial and think of pros for taking her but i genuinely cannot think of any. Ig she gives motherly vibes and she sometimes moves deadlines? 🤷‍♀️ Workload is heavy, little-to-no cool down time between each requirement, and her comments contradict themselves. You can try recording her comments, but you'll still end up losing i fear The trick we found was to let her drive the projects since she will make her opinion win either way. Sweetheart, the only way to surviving this class is to group up with your friends fr, even if you have different work ethics. She's an easy A for COMM 23, just pass all the requirements on time. For COMM 24, i wouldn't say she's an easy A. She's more strict here since it's a research-based class to an extent. Unfortunately, you will have to take her at least once; but for your sanity and happiness, do avoid at all costs if possible Kaya nyo yan 🫡 character has never developed harder in these classesmore

A lot of people get her pre-enlisted so there isn't much of a choice! Here's my 2 cents - Maximize onsite sessions by asking all questions and clarifications there, about the syllabus, instructions, deadlines, etc. Ask literally everything there so that you get answers immediately. - Communicate well with your beadle as they'll be the class' lifeline when talking to her (especially with negotiating deadlines)! - Take note (aka proof) of her feedback and reasons for that feedback whenever you implement changes in your work, just to track your progress and see what's best - It's likely that you will be with the same group for the whole sem, so once upcoming assignments are mentioned, try to make a master doc and delegate tasks ASAP. This makes it easier for everyone to know what they're doing, especially when (not if) there's a finals cramming session hehe - It's best to do your own research for presentations, as about 99% of the class is honestly just different groups teaching each other. Most of the learning is from you, aka you get out what you put in - Recitation, participation, and asking questions for other groups will boost your grade (and have you remembered better lol). Take notes during others' presentations and try to listen well! - For research, ask for sample papers for guidance format, etc. Or search for your own - If you have the choice to say no to "playing a game," say no - Have something to keep you awake during finals - Good luck and take care yourself HAHAHAHmore

With COMM 23 being a shared course with SocSci 12 and NSTP 12, somehow pati din yung profs for the other two class naiinis din kay Ma'am Lenie. Mahirap na nga to cooperate with her as students, pero kung pati din other profs nahihirapan, then it's a her issue na. I guess it's normal for profs in general to grill students in front of the class, but she does the bad type of grilling because you're not given the chance to defend what you talked about, kahit very valid rebuttal mo. What really sucked back when I had COMM 23 was that the partner organization had a specific output that they are looking for, and ofc we'll give it to them. But then Ma'am Lenie would end up criticizing "why did you do that?", "bakit ganun?", "this is not effective!". Pero mehng, that's what partner org asked for! I'm not giving you what you want, I'm giving them what they need! I'm only speaking in terms of COMM 23. If you want an easy A, you can get one here. But only if you're willing to challenge your mental capacity. I didn't have her for COMM 194 and I didn't get an A but still, I enjoyed that more because I was able to learn something there.more

for 3 groups at most: 15 mins setting up slides + 10 mins presenting + 20 mins comments = 90 mins na may onting overtime kasi bitin sa oras. tas uulitin toh next meeting. warning nalang sa dog-eat-dog game kasi hindi mo magegets yung activity. can be vague with comments and suggestions lalo na with research. ewan ko if she pays attention to the students in class, kasi one time i sat in her class forgetting to ask for permission tas i was kicked out after 48 minutes in the middle of a class presentation. maam can be understanding naman tho. Easy A, but mabibitin ka with comm for social change, if ur the student to care about their lessons.more

tldr: this is a rare lowk positive review xd Beadled for her two times and I don’t mean to be a Hernando apologist but shes actually vv nice and I think she’s already improved naman! Ik this bcos once we were talking and she was like now lang daw siya naging Canvas proficient and it’s actually very very helpful daw wahahaha! I’d say she’s pretty much organized when it comes to modules na! For COMM 24, heavy on group work and reporting but I’d say just get good groupmates and ur good. Reportings are very chill also, just read the rubrics! For COMM 193 and 194 (research), we basically just let her decide what we’re gonna research on LOL bcos she’s partly medyo gulo and we didn’t want further stress HAHAHA but she’s pretty chill, just make sure that you can always back up what ur saying with sources. She’s also giving a bit boomer but just explain what you wanna do and she’s always open to listen! For me, as long as ur always grounded with your RRL matrix, super kaya i-defend yung framework. Basta what she wants is to see all the concepts you’re using in your RRL matrix. ALSO DONT FORGET TO CONSULT CONSULT CONSULT every chance you have to. Learned a lot about doing codebook stuff in her class actually! She has very motherly vibes, altho sometimes questionable ang beliefs LOL (iykyk) she replies a bit slow on email but she requires beadles to create a gc with her on messenger! Overall, I'd say she's an okay pick... (as someone who has had her 3 times lol) HAHAHAH easy A grading!!more

I wouldn't say that she's the absolute worst prof ever, just know that it will be [edit: VERY] frustrating. Here are things that you need if you do get her: 📌 Get a beadle that's organized and can properly communicate to the class everything she's trying to say (announcements, clarifications, assignments, etc.). Wala kayong magegets if hindi. 📌 Treat her nicely, and try not to sound too pushy when asking for extensions. She operates out of kindness, so if you push her limits, hindi siya magbibigay ng considerations. She's actually a really nice person, and she's very tita vibes lalo pag nagkwkwento siya. She values the insights of everyone. That's one of the top things that I look for sa profs para gumana ako sa mga subjects, kaya I was okay with being appointed beadle. Yun nga lang her work ethic made it hard for me to like her as a prof. For someone who has a PHD in Communication, sobrang gulo niya magcommunicate. She replies to me naman within the day, but ang hirap intindihan yung mga sinasabi niya at all times and she gives important feedback on assignments way too late. According to some of my classmates, they had to revise their entire papers more than 4 times kasi di nila maintindihan yung pinapagawa niya. Ako mismo na beadle, I had no idea what was going on because of how unorganized everything was. Expect a lot of "I'll be [doing this and that] later" from her. There was not a single module uploaded on Canvas—We worked purely out of the Assignments and Announcements tab. Just know that, for some reason, she struggles very heavily with technology. She also was hesitant to give us quizzes because she knows that it's not really the best way to assess yung kayahan ng student. Every topic in the entire semester was only discussed by us, the students. She would give a few insights after each presentation, but honestly, sino ba naman kasi kami para magdiscuss diba? You would prefer that it would come from the professional mismo. She was nice enough for me to go to class, but my brain would shut off immediately because it was such a bore. I didn't learn much from it. She was nice enough to say though that we're guaranteed an automatic A grade unless we deliberately gave no effort. Hindi pa tapos sem namin now, so I can't vouch for the validity of that, but I can say that she does grade higher than other profs in Ateneo.more

jusq. no tlg kahit ma-impeach pa si bbm in exchange for being her student! very disorganized and reliant on students to discuss. she also either overestimates your skills or underestimates your knowledge on things, there is no in between. research approach is very my-way-or-the-highway. she would insist on using her doctoral dissertation as the only example of how a research paper should be formatted. the stress is really not worth it for the A. i had her for science and risk communication; all my friends and i talked abt was how much of a horror it would be to take comm 193/194 under her.more

had her for comm 24 and it was my worst experience last sem–and i alr had 3 other p2p verified terror profs xD my class with her was very research based so baka the same for her in this one but i'm not sure so take it with a grain of salt HAHAHA from my experience, she was super unorganized. she would tell us what to do prior writing our chapter, we'd follow, and at the end she would make us rewrite everything according to her comments on the due date itself XD ang chaotic and sometimes ang hirap intindihin ng gusto nya mangyari HAHAHA in my class with her also, she gave grades and comments really late to some groups while already being done with others so ang gulo lang... personally, i would rather not take a class under hermore
