you're in good hands! A-able, but more importantly, a great prof who rly fed my love for history because he teaches rizal in a narrative style. bc of this, nothing ab the content we learned felt disjoined or irrelevant and his class was very engaging. he also encourages students to share insights in class and tie the takeaways to contemporary times.
in terms of policies, he's lenient and grades well (in the fair to high range). he allows consultations, which are useful for the group project and final paper. it's not hard to gauge what he wants to see in essays, and he keeps an organized timeline and canvas. not sure if this still stands cus i took this class in 2023, but he doesn't allow gadgets in class. lowk this wasnt a problem tho since the class wasn't boring and it allowed me to lock in and take good notes!
reqs include short quizzes and short essays based on readings, group activities in class and group projects (paper and presentation i think), 2 lts, and a final paper. lts are multiple choice objective type w/ an essay portion at the end. these are spaced out fine so the class didn't feel Too demanding!
to do well in this class, all u have to do is listen and make sure u get the big idea in the discussions. once u do, it's sm easier to recall the smaller details bc, again, everything ties in well tgt!
such a valuable experience to take this class; 3 yrs into college and it's still one of my favorites! such an underrated legendary prof too. 100% take if u love history, and even if u don't, he'll probably make u appreciate it anyway :"")more

sir denzel gives readings yes but he’s not necessarily strict with it (doesnt mean u shouldnt read them tho!) but when he discusses them in class, in layman’s terms, they were all so understandable and all made sense
got an A in his class - just get good groupmates, have fun in group presentations (we presented them creatively and he enjoyed all of our ideas— while making sure your report is in depth), know the gist of the readings and the lectures to ace the exams
also have consultations with him for your group essay
id say that his histo was very formative in how i understood ph history, it would be so much better if his teaching style is applied to the elementary and highschool academe bc his class got me like “damn, why am I only understanding it just now?”
I genuinely enjoyed how authentic Sir is + he makes histo not boring and actually integrates it well to what your course is (imo, just know how to make use of your knowledge you learn from here on.)
dont treat his class as another requirement or unit to finish, but as an actual learning tool to understand our path in this country. all of the readings I had made sense and actually helped me progress in my later sems heremore

Hello! Had him first sem SY 2020-2021 in an online setup. Attendance wasnt required in his zoom classes and bc it was an 8am class, I hardly attended 😬😅 except during group reportings. BUT his canvas modules were superb and really organized. Although readings were long, generally you can just skim thru and you’ll still be able to answer. However, for some requirements, you really have to read hard to be able to generate ideas and answers to the graded db/essay prompts.
All in all, He’s very insightful and considerate!! One thing I remember about him was he initiated grade consultations per group. So during the call, he asked each of us what grade we were aiming for (syempre A 🫡) and he gave us a breakdown of the scores we have so far, and he will tell you what grade you should be able to achieve in the final requirements in order to get an A. So really, he will help you achieve your goals! A-able with effort!more

Yaz! Also, gusto ni sir na engaging yung lessons kaya madalas sa sync sesh, he would ask for student participation. Truly very organized and grades pretty high. Madali lang groupworks kung kasundo mo grpmates mo <33 He's v kind to his students and always connects the topics to real life scenarios so everything's relatable. Expect some life realizations at the end of his class kung engaged na engaged ka sa class niya hehemore

Great lectures, difficult long tests, read the readings

He was my professor last semester and I can vouch for him! He gives great lectures and really teaches in a way where you'll understand and appreciate the history course. Just make sure to really read up on your readings. As in, READ AND ABSORB THEM. His long tests are pretty difficult but as long as you understand what you've read and listened to via lecture, you'll be fine. Take notes din in class. He's also really considerate if you bring up certain problems that might hinder you from learning (i.e., if you have trouble absorbing things like I do, problems with group mates, etc). Overall, I think you'll enjoy his class :DDmore

Had him for a sit in class in 2018, so I'm not so sure about how he grades but lecture-wise he used a presentation with a lot of old photos related to the topic which I found more engaging than bullet points or a purely free discussion. Just basing off that session, he doesn't seem to be the type to leave you alone with readings as he covered a lot of information in that session and his delivery was also not boring at all.more

hello ! had him during the auto pass sem last 2020 but he's !!!! so !!! nice !!! my fav histo class :') he required us to have a notebook for quizzes and idk if he still does this but if we were too shy to recite/ask a question he told us we could write it on our notebooks and he would reply to us on the notebooks :') i thought that was v thoughtful of him,,, i think the readings were relatively easy to read and he discusses them thoroughly to the point na if u dont know the reading, after that class u know it na (but still read the readings before class bc may quiz sometimes)more

He's very organized and considerate! I can't remember most of the requirements anymore but they were definitely not burdensome. The required readings were quite long, but I actually enjoyed them. His discussions and modules are very helpful, but can be a little overwhelming sometimes because it's jam-packed with important information. His canvas makes use of interactive games too! You could tell that he's putting in a lot of effort for his students. Overall had a great time in this course, you are in good hands.more

Hellooo! Had SIr Domingo last sem. He's super nice, considerate and accomodating. His requirements aren't that heavy and it's easy to understand the lessons because of how he teaches. If you're confused, he will clarify and discuss once more to make sure you get it. He gives consultations if needed as well! The only thing I had a difficult time with was the amount of readings there were and lowkey felt overwhelmed with how much important information there were but nonetheless, it was still manageable.more

Definitely A-able! Workload was not bad hehe 2 major group works + 1-2 papers & discussion boards. He also had breakout room activities during synch sessions. His lectures were really interesting and helped me see history in a new light. All in all, I would definitely recommend you take him!more

THE BEST HISTO PROF 🤩 laid back, doesn't give deductions even if you're late, very patient with his students (also very easy to talk too), makes history fun (he likes it as much as possible to make class fun), he also made it manageable na we only had 4 synchs iirc, light workload :3

Had sir for second sem last year and would 10/10 recommend! He was very considerate of deadlines and pushes you to actually understand history (and not just memorizing dates). Modules are also very organized and easy to digest. In terms of workload, reading is a bit heavy but reqs are definitely manageable since the deadlines are flexible (no hard deadlines for most tasks). If I recall correctly 2 group works w/ oral presentations, 1 final group work, 2-3 discussion boards per module (3/4 modules i think?), a short reflection paper at the end, and breakout room activities treated as short quizzes every synch to be submitted within the day (not objective but more on testing your understanding of what he discussed). He gives generally high grades naman and definitely A-able! Advice lang is to get good groupmates and I think you're good na. :))more

Love sir as a prof coz hes nice and kinda funny. His teaching style may have changed na tho bc when he was my prof, it was first quarter first sem of online class so we were all new to the LMS.
Very reading heavy (bec its histo) and you should listen to his lectures and put what you hear / learn in your outputs.
We didnt have exams under him, just groupwork presentations and individual papers.
Tbh I’m super bad at history ever since HS but histo11 is probably my highest histo grade ever in my life 🤣 he’s def A-able. He also gives bonus sometimesmore

The GOAT. Wag mo lang pabayaan ang group report and group essay. There are also two major multiple choice exams but they're easy if u js read and understand the readings (and listen to the lectures).

i took him in aug 2024 and I LOVED HIS CLASS! for me, what’s important is you do your part in groupworks and do it well. his exams were multiple choice with a short essay question at the end, but they’re really easy if you ready the readings and listen to his lectures.
his lectures are very interesting and fun, he inserts jokes sometimes so it’s not boring at all! got a B+ for his class, but he’s definitely A-able with effort! you’ll enjoy being his student!more

got a B+ from him which was such an improvement from the D i got for advisory grades (yes i did not like that subject at all) but he rlly helped me lock in and i started to appreciate his lectures (still loathe rizal for el fili and noli LOL)more
