Definitely Ma'am Claire! She gets a lot of bad rep, but after taking her class, I think it's safe to say a lot of people are unfair to her bc they're too sensitive. She never critiques YOU personally, but your work, and she has to bc you usually have workshop activities to help you improve your skills and prepare for midterms + finals. Her comments are all incredibly helpful and include a lot of industry relevant information and practice, so definitely take a lot of notes. And the best part is that she trains you for her high standards without consequence. She doesn't grade her practice activities, and the presentations with your group allow you to learn everything without the pressure of being grade conscious. Her only graded stuff is the midterm and finals, along with the LTs (which are online and very easy! Personally everyone I know in her class aced it, and I was able to ace all of mine too even though I was very sick for most of them) Above all, she's kind and will take her time to explain to you what you did wrong or what might have been better. Just definitely work on not taking it personally if you know you don't have thick skin, but again I don't think it's that bad, some people just take things way too harshly. Like would you rather you find out you've been doing everything wrong once you have the job? Ma'am Claire prepares you for your career and I'll stand on that personally.more

if she implements groupings, make sure to get a really good group! if u raise a complaint to her about any of ur groupmates, her solution is “deal with it. thats how it is in the workplace” - for any of her classes, participate a lot but be careful with what u answer because she will remember if u give a wrong answer and will roast u for it 😭 just make sure to agree with her and really pay attention to make sure u give her exactly what shes looking for (she gets mad if no one participates but also if a lot of people participate but its not what shes looking for) - have thick skin 😭 she will go hard with her comments and criticisms so just make sure to take them as criticisms to ur work and not ur skills! (this is my best tip but its hard to do because of how intense she criticizes 😅 i know like two people who withdrew from the class i was in because it was too intense) good luck to u 😭🙏 i hope shes changed since i took her (in AY2021-2022)more

Take her!! Intimidating but will teach you a lot. She's the biggest reason i respect the hell out of anyone in the field of advertising. She'll roast you, there's no escaping it no matter how smart you are but as someone now in an ad agency, I've learned how to spot what a good brief is and isn't before a client does. What you learn will also help if you take other ad classes/strat plan in the future Also! She grades surprisingly high in finals! Lots of us got a surprise A. Just pay attention, you'll learn what she's looking for and if she roasts you, just move on and apply it. Genuinely using everything she taught + she's a badass boss ladymore

can vouch lol, he was especially inconsiderate to students under difficult and/or special circumstances (illness, under contract, etc). He didn't shape up nor finally give reasonable consideration until AFTER one of our classmates literally had to loadrev out of his class.more

Not sure how legally I can answer this, but I'd just say it's a fair mix of everything you mentioned. I recommend taking notes of all the PPTs and videos, if you do that then you should have no problems come test day. They're not too difficult provided you were present for all lecture days (or caught up on other people's notes if you missed a day)more

she’s a bit intimidating, but if she sees that you (and the class) are putting in a lot of effort, then you’ll have a great time! just pay ATTENTION to what she says, like verbatim, and take note of everything HAHAHA she’s lowkey like a “never let them know your next move” type of prof, but she’s so nice once you get along with her. don’t worry too much and really focus on her class because what you learn from her can be applied to all the comm subjects you’ll have after :) would take her again if i could!more

I loved Ma'am Claire and chose to take her twice!! I'm ngl I wasn't sure if I was gonna pass her principles class but I was happy with my grade in the end. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but you just gotta tough it out. It's VERY hard to make her completely happy with your work, but it changed the way my mind would work and I saw myself improve over time.more

*shakes in Ma'am Claire's COMM31 class trauma* Ma'am Claire is a good prof but she really isn't for the faint of heart PROS: - hands on work (gives you the REAL shit) - gives good critiques on your work - light-medium workload on the midterm part of the sem CONS: - groupwork heavy - finals is nerve wracking - not an easy A because your mental will be minced depending on your outputs I would still vouch for her though HHAAHAHAHAHAH I loved our early morning convos and kamustahans but get good groupmates and you'll be set for the classmore

I personally define "good prof" as someone who knows how to teach and if you actually have solid knowledge after the sem. A "good prof" isn't someone that hands out A's all willy-nilly or a class you can accomplish half-heartedly. Ms Claire is a good prof. Not chill, not easy, but you 100% will learn from her. Vouch! Took her twice and after everything, i can firmly say i am in love with this field — nothing challenges me harder and pushes me to learn more than ad. I won't sugarcoat, she is hard to please; but it is impossible to leave without learning anything.more
