My favorite prof! A bit strict with grading but her classes are really entertaining!

Hi! I love Ms.Habana! Shes very nice and her lectures are super entertaining. But her lectures are unstructured and she does not allow you to use gadgets to take notes. There are also many readings and coverage for the exams. Grades-wise, she is very strict at grading but i’d say a B+ with a lot of effort!more

Love her! Coming to class doesn’t feel like class at all tbh, it’s like a chill kwentuhan/chikahan sesh hehe. I learned so much about parts of ph history left uncovered, and she really makes sure that you get the whole perspective of the emergence of the Philippine nation and not just the years leading up to the revolution. I believe precolonial life lessons took longer than the Rizal parts. We had topics on the economy, social life, and also women! It’s very interesting, and I assure you I have never seen that many students so enthusiastic and engaged while listening! The downside however is she only gives 4 assessments, meaning it’s hard to up your grade. Papers are challenging, because she’s specific on what she wants and how it is written. I didn’t get a B+ or A pero I don’t care honestly because I love this class so much haha good luck and make sure to read ALL the readings as she does randomly call 😅

her lectures are some of the nicest one's i've had since she really gives the sub some personality. yun lang grading is a little ehhh and you'll drown in readings, pero she's super approachable naman and chill. very doable class dwmore

She was my prof during 2023 and she's AWSOME. Every class session was so fun and you learn A LOT. There's a lot of readings, but I felt all the readings were informative. For some of the readings there are groupwork for it. She pays a lot of attention to detail on your group outputs so that's something to watch out for. Be detailed and nuanced. Another thing to watch out for are the quizzes which tend to be modified true or false stuff, multiple choice and short essay. They can be tricky but it's not too bad. Overall like what others have said, while it can tricky, but her class is worth taking. With effort, it's definitly B able and even A able.more

Ocampo but I'd recommend him for regular sem though hehe unless you like doing lots of 1 page papers in a week for his class alone

Both are GREAT professors. Habana's the department chairperson and an actual, motherly historian. Got a B+, and was SUPER bitter because I was 0.6 away from an A! She teaches really well, knows her stuff and goes beyond the coverage because she analyses manuscripts and all those stuff.more

Super tita vibes! Loved her teaching style of just kwentuhan and chismis Regarding grading and deadlines though, like what the other commenters mentioned, she's pretty strict. B+ is an excellent grade na considering the 2 group assessments and 2 long tests she provides worth 25% of the grade each.more

the goat!! you’ll learn a lot from her but she does have high standards tip: make every assessment count since each one will make up a huge portion of your grade. i don’t know how i got an A but try to grasp what she’s looking for so you’ll get good grades :))more

omg i love her 😭 tita vibes talaga! i got her for my first sem of my freshman year. her discussions feel more like chika sessions rather than lectures which personally helps me with retaining information. midway through the sem she banned gadgets tho idk if that’s still something she’s enforcing. didn’t get a high grade but workload is manageable. just make sure to study really well for the quizzes and get good groupmates.more

The goat for HISTO. It feels like someone sharing her interests and a Tita talk rather than a lecture. We were told about Rizal’s multiple love lives during one lecture (For ref: was under her last year.) In grading though you will have to work really hard since the average is a C+. But honestly the learnings and lectures were so fun that the low C+ didn’t really hurt that muchmore

hiii if i recall correctly we had 2 long tests and they were objective questions! I barely passed the first one so I needed to bawi on the second one. I think you really have to listen in class (tbh here classes are not even boring because she makes it seem like chika time lang) because most of the info cannot be found on her slides. Also pro tip put extra effort in the group works and make sure to properly cite! Honestly her class is so easy to love because she makes it seem like kwento time lang. I got a B+ in her class with effort!more

C+ average score BUT i think if you try hard enough, B (maybe even B+) is possible. I LOVE HER THO! not sure if itll be the same for tests but iirc, modified t or f for part 1 then essay in part 2. it’s honestly quite tricky so read carefully. she’s particular about answers in essays, and sometimes she’s looking for certain things talaga. for papers, key is to consult! make sure you structure your ideas properly and have good evidences. I LOVED HER TEACHING STYLE THOUGH. summary/ highlights siya ng reading, but she kwentos it like its chika HAHAHAH her slides aren’t ma-words usually, but i suggest writing what shes lecturing, esp if you can synthesize it in your own words. i noticed that my notes sounded like chika also LOL do your readings pa rin tho! some test questions may include things from the reading but not from the lectures. baka may bonus point rin diyan if you can cite a specific source from your readings. note though that sometimes she calls random to read or recite, pero pang participation points mo na yun overall, are there other profs that are also fun but would give you a higher score? yeah probably! but if you got her, it’s not bad. even though C+ yung nakuha ko, i still really enjoyed and had fun. i miss her aksh! just make peace with not getting an A or B+ HAHAHAH (WELL ITS NOT IMPOSSIBLE BUT YK ITS DEFO A CHALLENGE)more
