i loveee him! teaching style - values recitation as in ipababasa sayo yung korean sa board. dw he's not strict naman and will help u if nahihirapan ka. this is actually a good thing bc it will help u for reading orals - some past reviews say he's intimidating, masungit, etc fjskdjekkd i dont agree but i get where they're coming from bc sir kindaaa looks intimidating though honestly i think he just gets disappointed when the class doesn't try to reciprocate his energy nor make an effort to engage with him - we were a very noisy class HAHAHAH everyone really was eager to learn korean kaya when he asks to read something to the entirety of the class everyone tries to tapos halo-halo na boses namin but HE ENJOYS THAT !! he keeps mentioning na ang ingay namin compared to the other class he was handling na dedma. so pls just try ur best to actually engage 🙏 - also makes jokes na mostly filipino media references. but baka di mo ma-gets if ur not into filipino media culture - tldr ur experience with him will heavily depend on the vibes of ur class workload - we just had like either speaking or writing exercises every other day when we were intersession, but he was very willing to move dls by his own decision if feel niya sobrang tambak na kami sa workload niya - i had him for intersession so medyo fast-paced talaga but i think since 2x a week naman for a regular sem, it won't be that bad - his canvas modules are really organized. per module, he has a checklist of the required tasks and when it's needed - tldr a few but manageable requirements - discussion boards - speaking tasks (orals, basically just reading or answering basic questions) - writing exercises (some online, some onsite) - quizzes (online) - vlog in korean - final assessment: bunot ng topic, he will ask u questions in korean regarding that topic, u answer in korean grading - his A is a 95 - i was so sure i was gonna get a B+ because my writing exercises were kinda... not awful but not the best. but i got an A anyway! - just make sure to do all the requirements and dont worry too much. one thing that he always tells us is "wag kayo mag-overthink" 🫡more

if au ssaem's class is in a non-aircon room, u have a hard time latching onto a language, or you don't like learning by doing pair discussions/exercises, i would not recommend. i did ok bc i was pretty familiar with korean already, but she goes a bit fast and doesn't speak clearly sometimes. for krn 11, she also doesn't teach the writing system. imo she also doesn't make an effort to accomadate/understand u— not necessarily maliciously, but she's a bit on the older side, so she wants things to be simple and her way. if u get her, she's not a bad prof. but i wouldn't give her a glowing recommendation either, she's just ok tbhmore

Hi! I took his KRN 11 class last intersession (‘23-‘24)He’s a good and kind prof naman. However, I would just say na make sure to really go through the modules and word lists na he uploads. It would help you a lot kasi he might expect you to already know the Korean words he’ll use in class. Generally speaking, you’re in good hands. Just make sure to prepare before classes. He may sound strict or disappointed sometimes if the class takes a long time responding to his questions, but it doesn’t make him a terror prof. In fact, he’s considerate, approachable, and he makes his lectures fun and interactive (he has games too :’))more

I finished his class recently, and he's fairly good naman in teaching Korean. Though tbh, he really does have high standards minsan and that can scare one off a lot. He's a bit pressuring din so you have to really work really hard if you're having a hard time learning the language. He does make his lectures fun. He does class participation a lot. I honestly enjoyed his class, pero not gonna lie, I felt so pressured. He's considerate din actually, especially during finals. If you make a mistake and are able to fix it naman during the orals he does not deduct points naman.more
