Last year we were pretty much entirely async. He would give us assigned readings tas we'd answer a post about it and write a journal log at the end of each week. Final output was an essay and honestly that was pretty much it. Very chill, medj cryptid nga si sir eh HAHAHAHA pero it's a lot of self-studying too. Philo isn't my cup of tea, so nahirapan talaga ako sa course. Sobrang haba rin ng readings. Marami pa sila actually, but I guess that's okay because it's a pure asynch course. Sir Leander is kind enough to an extension sa pagcocomment/interact sa discussions if you need more time to digest the readings.more

Prof ko si Sir Marquez last sem pero sa Ethics 1! Wala naman masyadong heavy requirements except sa final paper. Every week though, kailangan magbasa ng readings at mag comment sa FB thread ng opinions na 2 to 3 sentences lang naman. Also, sobrang okay siya—very considerate at lenient. Ang ganda rin ng readings. No synchronous classes. Unoable!! 11/10 would recommend~more

I couldn't tell how he teaches in a full semester because I have taken his class only in a summer term. He elaborated well most of the concepts to us. He was open to discussions. If you want to get an uno, you should really work hard! Study well. His exams are generally divided into 2 parts, the technical part and the analysis part.more

Parang walking textbook nga siya, pero hindi boring, kasi dinadaan niya sa kwento yung kanyang mga lectures. I have to agree with the post saying he's the worst. Not that I think he is but he's just too preoccupied with his 'atheistic' triumph. He comes in late in class but too strict once he caught somebody late even when the student's just late for a minute. The average grade of the class is 2.25. Good luck with that!more

Awesome prof. Fun yung class pero mahirap. You'll learn a lot even if mababa standing sa class. You really have to study for the quizzes, the Midterms, and the Finals to get a good grade. Pero overall, great prof.more

philo 1 can be tricky and difficult, but sir marquez was able to explain concepts well. he can be funny & the way he teaches is fun! he really knows the field. you don't really know what to expect from him. he is definitely worth taking (also b/c the subject can be challenging, yet you get to learn a lot from it). you get the grade you deservemore

I will admit that Philo 1 under him was DIFFICULT.I failed a lot of tests because it was really challenging. Super fun lagi ang discussion. Medyo mahirap yung exams and even quizzes pero objective type naman so basa lang talaga ng book at kinig mabuti. He checks the attendance before mag dismiss. If you're looking for an easy uno GE, this is not the class you're looking for. Leander really makes you think and to survive in his discussions it's good to have read in advance. It's a little heavy with the workload, but I hear his requirements usually change. Great class if you want to learn a lot. He also has a huge curve! :)more

Ganda ng readings set. maraming group discussions pero he makes sure to discuss the lesson din as a class. baby face din si Sir kaya hindi ka matatakot HAHAHA. Learned A LOT!more

I dont know if it is just me but this class was not for someone who is new to philosophy, sir talked about undiscussed necessary foundations to understand the lesson. Not unoable, but definitely passable. Not the easiest but perhaps, it is one of the most meaningful classes I have gone to. Lots of readings, but I assure you they'll help you. Basically, ask a lot of questions in your mind in accordance to the topics of the day, and ask some of them in class, and you'll do great. One of the best and coolest profs.more
