Easy B for Meneses.

Easy B for Meneses. She gives the impression that her class is easy as lectures are relatively chill and theres only few requirements: oral group quiz, oral midterm, oral final connected to nstp. She doesn’t give feedback, gives no quantitative or qualitative evaluation of your oral exams and didnt even return the midterm score. Her lectures aren’t life changing either, it’s just basic, sometimes surface level concepts that you might even already know if you come from a catholic school background. She barely discussed the philosophers and their theories, you only get the idea that she expected you to base your oral exams on them when thats what she focuses on for the follow up questions. I guess it should be self study with the 823638 articles that she just post the links to on canvas. There ARE readings, articles and videos and you should definitely study them, you just wouldnt know that there are if you dont religiously open canvas to check because she never actually makes any announcements or uses those readings during lecture but Im guessing the readings have the content/concepts/theories shes looking for you to apply to a practical scenario during orals. Might give you an A if you do so.more

She loves recitation but theyre always easy and subjective (super based on your personal experiences). I dont know if it was just because my class was not active but for all her questions she would call everyone to answer so class is chill. But her orals were hell in the sense that her expectations are never clear. You could recite everything she taught in class word per word and sometimes it wouldn’t be enough for her. She wont embarrass you but shed encourage you to keep expounding then in the end will tell you you didnt get the complete point of the question but good enough. You can bola your way through your orals, so if you care more about not embarrassing yourself in front of your group dont worry about that, but if you care about your grade bola wont be enough. Overall, not a bad prof! Dont worry about taking her. Shes motherly nga as everyone says, its really just a matter of during orals youll never know what she wants to hear but you cant please everyone so 🤣 ps. i dont know if this will help but she loves students who have strong opinions on LGBTQ related mattersmore

for meneses, her workload feels a lot lighter. no quizzes at all, everything rides on your midterms, finals, and nstp output. but that doesn't mean u can cheese her class. take notes, listen to lectures, and understand the topic to do well in her class. she's a lovely person and made theo 12 my favorite class that sem despite my general distaste for religion. she emphasizes social justice in her class. i got a B+ even though i tried for an A, but i don't really regret it because of the light workload and i love her lectures. u just have to pray for good nstp groupmates and get responsible ppl as ur groupmates for midterms. B+able as long as you take the class seriously and recite (she really likes hearing what u have to say!!!) i don't know if she's A-able, but i would tank another B+ to take her againmore

As someone who took both Meneses and Reyes for Theo, I’d recommend Reyes. They’re both Hard A anyways, so I’d choose Reyes because he teaches really well, is sensible in grading and overall you will have very meaningful and insightful semester in his classmore

we only had 2-3(?) papers iirc, very chill since it’s reflective! we had orals for both midterms n finals:D she gave 5-7 thesis statements alsooo again this was her first sem teaching and this was theo 13 so i’m not sure what she’ll change up hehe forgot to add but take! notes! she didn’t post anything in canvas 😭 and never gave her ppts so my friends and i just shared notes to study hahaha but imo vvvv doable!!! i’ve had worse experiences w oralsmore

i had 26 units when i took her! yes she does have 2 oral exams and those who did pretty well are also those who recited a lot during her discussions. her orals are just like conversations so if you can yap (fil or eng, doesnt matter), you should be fine. also, shes very kind and relatable so if your class has any request, you can just send her an email! you should be apprehensive if you’re not very opinionated, if you don’t like expressing yourself, or if you don’t like answering wrongly (often times she has a specific answer in mind so you’ll know if your answer wasn’t the one she’s looking for. however, she doesn’t embarrass you naman! with the right classmates, discussions become guessing games!)more

meneses will teach you the bare minimum of the concepts and expect you to be more in-depth for the oral quiz and midterms. i think you really have to self study the article links that she posts on canvas. and also she looks for specific answers so unless you’re just intuitively check all her boxes you might have to give extra effort. light work yes but not easy b+/a i think she really has to like you or you have to impress hermore

meneses is MOTHER. shes very progressive, but shes also very socratic. she asks a loooot of questions but theyll keep you locked in during her discussions so you’re forced to listen. if you are generally responsible and not an asshole, you’ll definitely get an A. just use your brain and engage. im not a type A, masipag person but my brain works pretty well so i still got an A on her. literally just have your own opinions and integrate them with the lessons, you’ll be fine.more

Doc Meneses is great! Had her 2nd year 2nd semester. Her requirements are manageable naman, I only remembered one quiz, some in-class and asynchronous activities, one midterm orals, then final presentation that’s integrated with NSTP. Imo, most challenging na requirements under her course are the things activities related to NSTP rin (worksheet, presentation, etc). She’s a great prof and you will learn a lot from her, you just have to listen. She’s likes it when you are participative in her class. She’s very progressive and open to her students’ ideas. Got a B+ in her class but A-able with effort. I wasn’t really the type who’s always participative in her class so I got a B+ lang and her orals are not scary naman compared to the other orals I had.more

im currently taking dr kristine meneses! u just have three oral assessments (quiz, midterm and final)… all of them by group… no other quizzes or written output aside from that… the rest of the time you can just listen to her lecture and there’s quite a few asynchronous sessions bec u dont have meetings on the days that other groups are doing their oral assessments.more

Doc Meneses is great, definitely one of the more memorable classes I took. She has very progressive views and it's a nice break from subs with heavy workload. Super chill class, a lot of the times nag kekwentuhan nalang, but they were still super informative and engaging. One of the few classes where mapaparecite ka talaga. We didn't have any readings aside from a few videos she wanted us to watch outside class. We had 3 requirements: midterm orals, NSTP presentation, and final orals. Medyo madugo sila, especially her follow up questions 😭 the class average was around a B, so expect to get somewhere around that. She's really particular with your answers and how you connect it to the lessons and your NSTP engagement. She's not an easy A, but if you want a class that you'll learn a lot from then you're in great hands.more

Easy B-B+, just recite and do the readings. However her oral exams are subjective and her expectations are not always clear. It mostly relies on personal genuine experience or how you apply what you learned in class. Honestly her lectures are not that interesting or life changing. Since you do not learn as much about God or Catholic principles like Theo 11. Rather its a mixture of secular philosophy or political theory. Which was dissapointing. Overall solid prof and not that heavy with requirements. But if you want to explore your faith might not be for youmore

took her for theo 13! enlisted for her class blindly since it was TBA. but probably the best TBA ever!!! she’s very kind and her workload is pretty light, although idk how it’ll be this sem since this is a different theo. her views and theology r pretty different and shocking especially to those who grew up religious HAHAHA but the topics she discussed were so so applicable & the class enjoyed it sm. be ready for some deep hitting questions tho! she values recitation and this is probably one of the few classes i heard EVERYONE recite HAHA at first it was a bit awkward to open up but the environment was kind and accepting so it became easier to do so as time goes. overall, enjoyed her class and it felt like an escape from the harder major subjs!more
