Very nice and organized, heavy daily workload, recit almost every day

Hii- pretty late but here's an updated review as someone who took her last intersession- might be different for a regular sem but overall Prof Ortiz is very nice :)))) Pros: - Kind and approachable; it feels very casual and relaxed and Prof really listens to you - Grades fairly and high when she really sees your effort so show that you are eager to learn + believe what you're saying and prepare well! - Gives extra points that REALLY boosts up grades in the long run even if they don't seem like it but she gives these A LOT - She chooses your groupmates for you based on a personality test so you're going to be with people who essentially work like you (personally this was pretty cool to me because my group mates and I got along pretty well!) - extremely organized. Prof plans EVERYTHING and updates everything on Canvas. She will provide announcements, adjustments in schedules, powerpoints in a very organized manner that sometimes I legit wonder how she does it lmao but also she gives you guys formats FOR EVERYTHING and tells you what she expects + what she wants so take note of them all because this will boost your grade A LOT. - replies fairly quickly! The beadle emails her for concerns especialyl when shifting online and she's very approachable about it- she literally shifted to an online when some profs didn't. - Prof is also very nice in consultations. She provides as much as she can but slots for the time sched can be a bit tricky because she likes to do spin the wheel so if you're group is unlucky, it will happen the way the wheel says. Cons: - WORKLOAD. Prof gives homeworks or readings ALMOST EVERY meeting. We also had a lot of movies to watch and they were 2 to 3 hrs long and given the intersession fast paced sched- I was legit watching movie after movie at 1.5x speed at times just to catch up lmaooo. Like at one point in the sem I was just really tired of this class even if I started out enjoying it in the first days lol - She does recitation almost EVERY DAY if you're not working on a major task. She calls random people by funny anecdotes like "the tallest person in the group" or "the last person who arrived in the classroom in your group" or "the second to the tallest person in your group" and does this by group and random and she aims to have everyone recite. This is not exactly a con if you don't mind to talk a lot but this became a con to me sometimes mainly because that meant in every meeting you have with her, you have to BE READY or else you're going to be grasping at straws with your group mates (it's even worse if nobody actually read/watched the material so be aware of what the meeting will entail because Prof also provides what she expects will happen FOR EVERYDAY- legit she's that organized) - Spin the wheel is almost always her way of deciding how things will go in terms of what is the order of groups for presentations, what is the order of people going to consult with her, and other similar "group chooses ___" moments. This was a con for me because my group usually got the shorter end of the stick heh but I get that it's in the point of fairness.more

Had her for purp com (ENGL11)! She’s really nice and understanding; very very approachable. She has you doing a lot of things in preparation for major assessments (outlines, ideas lists, topic suggestions, etc.) and it can feel a little tedious, at times, but it makes the major assessments a lot easier to do. Her class is pretty engaging and she really tries to keep the class participative and present in mind. One way she does this is through the grouping system where you’re grouped around the beginning of class and you sit with those people for the rest of the sem. Through this, she comes up with some fun ways to keep the group communicating and working together to answer questions through recitation. In terms of grading, I’d say she grades pretty high. Most people I know almost always got an A and, on top of this, she also gives a lot opportunities for bonus/incentives! TLDR: she’s kind, her class is engaging, and she grades fairly high; you’re in good hands :)more

had her for enlit and purpcom and she's the goat!! she really makes the material digestible and uses teaching techniques that enhances engagement in the class. you'll be grouped based on a google form that you will answer at the beginning of the sem so that she can gauge the students you'll be grouped with. hopefully you'll get good groupmates (if ever this class will requirement groupings!) kasi kasama mo sila buong sem. the individual and group class activities are very helpful because they're usually for preparing for the major assessments. you get feedback both from her and your groupmates. prepare 5x8 index cards just in case! i got an A for both engl 11 and enlit 12, and it's very possible to get that grade as long as you put effort! she also holds consultations during class time and responds in a timely manner sa canvas so you're in good hands :3more

hi! had ma’am camille for eng 11, not ene 13.04, but hope this helps:) she is really chill and I loved how on top she was of every requirement in class. she always updated the calendar and ensured that canvas was updated promptly. a common feedback would probably be that she has a lot of requirements, but I think that it helps in building up to the final assessment! I liked how in-depth she was with her feedback as well, so it helped ensure a good finals score (not sure if this is the same for the subj you’re taking). def a-able with effort! you might need to stay on top of things in the beginning, but it pays off in the end:) all the best!!more

Hi, took maam ortiz this intersession and I would say na the workload is a bit heavy during intersession, everyday we would have a assignment due and we had to do a lot of readings that was required. However, everything was mostly groupwork so make sure to get good groupmates. She grades generously, and don’t worry the lowest you will get is C+ to B. She is easily A-able with effortmore

Lectures from my experience with her in a different course were kinda a bit like high school set-ups so expect a lot of random, fun stuff in terms of how she calls people to recite 😂 But yeah, her discussions mostly consist of exercises + recitations, which she shows her bright side and positivity to her students’ answers :>> As for requirements, not sure if it applies to ene but a lot of them from the course I took under her tend to be a lot of group exercises with a lot of emphasis of individual outputs of the members. She also grades really high from my experience so I can definitely say she’s very A-able! ^^ Overall, Ma’am Camille’s a really awesome and bright prof for me that I hope you were able to get! ^^more

hi she’s very type a so u always know your agenda for the week + what readings u need to do. She’s great and wants to reduce our AI use, thus her classes are often no gadgets and she insists on writing on paper/submitting outputs on paper. Sometimes it’s frustrating bc you can’t cram however her class is great! She rlly gives you the resources to pass, however she has A LOT of outputs (since paper submission nga) She’s very kind bc I didn’t submit a minor output pero she emailed me and told me to submit days after the deadline. She’s like a high school teacher lawl /pos Each session ata has an output huhu. Definitely do not cram her class bc she expects u to do readings and be prepared. Overall 8/10more

hi! agree with anon’s comment about her being type A. good thing about this is u basically just prepare for her class and that already means you’re doing your outputs. sometimes it feels like a crunch especially if u’re the type to cram, but honestly it is a godsend because you almost always just finish or make up the bulk of your reqs in class so you don’t have to worry about it after she grades fairly high too, with a few bonuses too for some talks. my final grade ended up being 100 with the bonuses! just come prepared for her classes (she announces naman what to do), and always take note of what the session will be for (there’s an intended thing to do per session which i think helps u really go through with the pace of the class) and you’ll be fine! super kind profmore
