don’t let the negative reviews deter you! sir ice is the GOATworkload is very light, we only have 4 quizzes this sem, with the lowest score being cancellable so technically you’ll only have 3 quizzes. as for the quizzes, it’s objective lang its usually just one question asking you about the definition of a specific concept. i’m not sure if his standards have changed but it’s actually not that hard to get a 4 in them because his quizzes require a specific answer so as long u remember the philosophical concepts and are familiar with their definitions, you’ll be good! (im pretty sure my quizzes were written in a very botched filipino grammar but he still gave me a 4.) but be careful because it really is always either 0 or 4, with very rare 1s or 2s, because it really is a question about a specific concept so if u got that wrong, u’re gonna get a 0. (but it really is not that hard! the questions are pretty obvious so don’t fret )his discussions are super chill, in fact, maybe too chill, para lang kayo nakikinig sa podcast. he also speaks in taglish! but if you’re the type to grow complacent because the prof is “too chill”, maybe u should reconsider because u still need to study well esp for the orals there are also no visual aids/ppts, but it’s alright naman because his discussions are very faithful to the readings, which means u really don’t need any other materials aside from the readings. just make sure to listen well and/or take notes because it will be helpful for preparing for the orals exams! oral exams are a bit tricky. i have yet to hear anyone getting a 0, but he is not going to hesitate in giving 1s to 1.5s. however, the technique here is that more than just knowing the philosophical concepts, he wants to hear your reflection so you rlly don’t have to strictly base your answers on the reading (e.g citing very specific arguments/concepts) but as long as ur answer reflects the intent/heart of the reading, then u’re likely to get a good score! the set up is actually pretty chill too, and he guides you if your answer is “incomplete” or if you forgot a specific “concept”, and the vibe is not as intimidating as the other profs. he also doesn’t mind if you are using taglish or even english because i heard a friend spoke in almost pure english and still managed to get a 3! overall, may not be an easy A (I don’t think any philo prof is lol) but contrary to previous reviews, his set-up now might actually be more A-able! his class is very fun and insightful, he’s the class u wouldn’t want to cut because of how enjoyable it is. so if you want an enjoyable and meaningful philo experience while also having a relatively light load and a more .. gracious grading style compared to other profs, then pasco would be a good choice!more

orals are super chill! I had the same sched as this one person and they werent able to speak/explain the prompt at all. Doc was super kind and understanding abt it.
Better to understand the concepts than rely on memorization alone. Doc will ask one question after and it's usually from the reading itself. Make sure to read read and read the materials. Base your notes on them and dont rely on chatgpt (can use to arrange notes but would reco talaga to do everything manually. This way u would remember everything)
Dont worry if you're under time. Okay lang naman daw. I think i spoke for a good 5 mins out of the 10 na alloted haha. He gives out your score after the orals itself and he grades high naman (he grades higher sa final orals so u can always bawi)more

Dy's class is bs in the best way possible. U won't learn a thing bcs he only reads his slides, but his requirements r easy as long as u write well. Most, if not everyone in my class barely listens to him n uses his subj for other stuff n he doesn't care (love this HAHAHAHA).
I think the only hard part is the orals, esp if u didn't learn a thing throughout the sem cuz by the end, u have to learn everything by urself.
Got an A in his class despite not knowing how my written outputs were graded (I only know my grade for a quiz and orals, which r both A's) but it's only bcs I worked my ass off studying for the orals and got the thesis I wanted 😭.more

no visual aid at all but he explains everything so well and still catch your attention even without visual aids.
just read the readings + listen to the discussions. quizzes are quite light too, only one question, essay-type quiz, easy A for the quizzes if you read the readings, even if lightly read lang (i have 4.0 for every quiz so far). midterm and final orals are okay lang din if you study enough, we have no LT/final exam or anything c:

I HIGHLY SUGGEST SIR MANY DY!! he's not the best with tech but it's a super chill class since a lot of the time he makes u watch a movie and his reqs are mostly based on personal experience or done by group. He always integrates funny stories in his lessons and uploads all the slides. Orals are also super chill since he kinda guides you towards the answer if you're stuckmore
