Idk if the same rule applies but she usually tells the beadle to mark u late if u arrive after the prayer. She was my first class kasi but the prayer usually starts 5 mins after the class bell. She’s pretty considerate (example is she allows u to submit late outputs) so i assume she’ll be lenient if ure coming from another building. She wasn’t very lenient with students who said they were stuck in traffic, so that’s something to keep in mind. Overall, just communicate ur circumstance w her and she’ll most likely give u a bigger grace period esp if it’s a valid enough reason:))more

Had her also for ENGL 11, and I don't remember whether or not she had a grace period, but she seemed fairly understanding all in all (like with late submissions), so I think she'll understand if you explain your circumstances. Like the others said, easy B/B+, A with moderate effort. She gave a lot of activities for ENGL 11, but the workload was fairly manageable with good groupmates (I do think she grades a bit strictly for groupwork, though). Still, A-able if you write well.

had doc perfecto for enlit last qtr! she definitely has high standards for reqs and will really push to get more insight (asks a lot of questions) from the DBs and synch classes! still enjoyed the class despite d workload (a lot! of disc boards, grp work, perusall, etc.) 😊 shes very approachable naman and she replies pretty fast too hehe B-B+ is doable! if you still can, do the optional tasks for each module cos i think it helped with the final grade HAHAHAmore

HAHA definitely not A-able, more of B+/B so kaya naman. Make sure to go into detail in discussion boards and writing assignments as she gives a lot of corrections and asks a lot of questions. With that said, put a lot of thought into whatever you’re passing because she really does have high standards! Expect random recitation during her synch classes also so make sure you’ve read the material. She is really nice though so don’t be afraid to clarify and ask questions, Goodluck!! more

ohh and her modules were quite heavy,, a lot of videos to watch and reading stuff but i didn’t really spend too much time and skimmed through it lang!! i survived HAHAHAHAmore

I learned a lot from her class, very easy to approach, and she guides you talaga. In terms of grades, you get what you deserve, I don't think she curves. In terms of teaching, she's quite strict in her class but overall still enjoyed the experience! :))more

Strict, no phones, doesnt like noise in class, but you will learn a loooy frome her and i was thankful I had her for LIT13 bcos it really set me up for all my other enlit classes they became ezier hahaha. She grades around 15% lower than what u expect, and quite reasonable. Just keep reciting so u can practice so that in tests/papers, it’ll be easier (my mistake was i jus kept on taking notes)more

For my class, I don't recall being marked late (our beadle was always absent). I always came around 30 minutes after and I would still recite. She doesn't really give you back your grades until the end of the semester. At most, she would give 1-2 grades back. When I asked her once about it, she told me to guess my grade based on the assessments 😭 I also just do consultation because she offers it for every assessment so take that opportunity to do so. You can gauge what she wants from you because she gives constructive feedback! She doesn't have quizzes or long tests but she did do a surprise quiz once, super short lang tho! Her course is writing heavy, we had 2 personal papers along with 2 groupworks. But in keep in mind this might be different because I had her for purposive communication. Personally I got an A but I would say shes an easy B/B+more

But really, her modules were pretty heavy and there were tons of group work talaga (Esp for modules 1-2). You need to communicate with your group early on and tbh, I recommend answering as much discussion boards as you can (minimum of 5 per module 😓) Regarding her as a teacher, she’s really really responsive and helpful to her students!! We even had this long long discussion regarding my TS and she really guided me through it!! Just be very open to consulting with her and you’ll do fine🤩 She’s super super approachable and despite the workload, I loved her naman🥺more

Everyone in our block will agree with me when I say that Doc Marianne is one of the best profs we ever had! Doc Marianne is the epitome of a devoted instructor. 24/7, kahit sabi niya before na bawal, she is accessible to anyone who wants to ask questions or request consultations. She never gets tired of annotating and commenting on our outputs, guiding our works toward the best they could be. And she comments fast! Honestly, we don’t know where she’s getting all the time and energy to do that. Don’t dread those yellow highlights because every single one of them will really help you be a better writer, I swear! In fact, one of the essays I wrote in her class is among the best I’ve written in my entire life — and it was because she did not hesitate to guide me along the way. Her class discussion is always alive, and everyone is engaged. She forces everyone to think critically (by acting as the devil’s advocate) but will not humiliate you or make you feel less if you get it wrong. Kahit barok-barok minsan ang English ko, kebs lang sa kaniya. She cultivates a culture of respectful exchange of ideas, kaya masayang mag-recite sa klase niya. She has remarkably high standards and tons of workload, sure, but they are well-thought — nothing is ‘mema,’ and everything is essential to the development of the course. Kahit maraming ginagawa, I honestly would like to thank her because how she structured her requirements made my life easier when I already needed to write my final paper. I came in and came out of her class believing we could only get B+ from her class at most. After all, most of my scores hovered around that range. But she proved me wrong. With considerable effort, Doc Marianne is an A-able prof! Just do your best in everything that she asks you to do (even those optional activities), and you’ll be fine! Doc Marianne is a mother figure talaga that everyone loves. I even teared up on our last onsite class. And if I were given a chance to select my ENGL 11 professor, I would choose Doc M over and over again :))more
