Everyone in our block will agree with me when I say that Doc Marianne is one of the best profs we ever had!
Doc Marianne is the epitome of a devoted instructor. 24/7, kahit sabi niya before na bawal, she is accessible to anyone who wants to ask questions or request consultations. She never gets tired of annotating and commenting on our outputs, guiding our works toward the best they could be. And she comments fast! Honestly, we don’t know where she’s getting all the time and energy to do that.
Don’t dread those yellow highlights because every single one of them will really help you be a better writer, I swear! In fact, one of the essays I wrote in her class is among the best I’ve written in my entire life — and it was because she did not hesitate to guide me along the way.
Her class discussion is always alive, and everyone is engaged. She forces everyone to think critically (by acting as the devil’s advocate) but will not humiliate you or make you feel less if you get it wrong. Kahit barok-barok minsan ang English ko, kebs lang sa kaniya. She cultivates a culture of respectful exchange of ideas, kaya masayang mag-recite sa klase niya.
She has remarkably high standards and tons of workload, sure, but they are well-thought — nothing is ‘mema,’ and everything is essential to the development of the course. Kahit maraming ginagawa, I honestly would like to thank her because how she structured her requirements made my life easier when I already needed to write my final paper.
I came in and came out of her class believing we could only get B+ from her class at most. After all, most of my scores hovered around that range. But she proved me wrong. With considerable effort, Doc Marianne is an A-able prof! Just do your best in everything that she asks you to do (even those optional activities), and you’ll be fine!
Doc Marianne is a mother figure talaga that everyone loves. I even teared up on our last onsite class. And if I were given a chance to select my ENGL 11 professor, I would choose Doc M over and over again :))more

I had her last semester and she’s nice, her classes are an eyeopener frfr and I 100% enjoyed it
She expects class participation, like she would call on students to answer/share their thoughts on the readings. This is a daily occurrence in her class, but don’t get intimidated as long as you read and understood the stories ur good. Make sure to read all the required readings in advance.
Also, do NOT forget to answer her discussion boards as all of them have a deadline/closing and once its closed she won’t open it again.
We always had exercises that are due at the end of her class, so make sure to always bring your devices such as ipads or laptops.
The readings naman are fairly short, make sure to really understand them, like critically analyze them as she wants her students to really know the stories and what they entail.
Had a lot of groupworks also, mostly random groupmates.

I had her as a freshman forever ago (2013-2014), proud to say that the writing techniques she taught us built the foundation which helped me in social science research and later on in law school
She has high standards and most of us were in the C-D range near the end of the sem. I wouldn't say she's a terror with unreasonable demands. It's just that whatever she's teaching gives you the right challenge to actually think and grow. She gives out Bs to those who earned it.
I was an average student in her class, but I'm considered a good writer at this point in my lifemore

HAHA definitely not A-able, more of B+/B so kaya naman. Make sure to go into detail in discussion boards and writing assignments as she gives a lot of corrections and asks a lot of questions. With that said, put a lot of thought into whatever you’re passing because she really does have high standards! Expect random recitation during her synch classes also so make sure you’ve read the material. She is really nice though so don’t be afraid to clarify and ask questions, Goodluck!! more

I learned a lot from her class!! She gives u a lot of activities but they really help u improve ur writing n communication skills :)) in terms of grading ,,, u rlly need to put in the work xD shes strict but also gives mom vibes?? Definitely be aware of whats going on in the real world (politics n etc) because she relates these things to her discussions and activities! also consult with her when you have writing assignments :> i got a ~low grade in her class but would still take her again!!!!! more

i had ma’am perfecto for engl 11!! she was really nice and caring, like a mother figure. but for me, her standards were pretty high when it comes to the essays:< i wouldn’t say she’s a-able but she can defo give u a B+! i was expecting to get C+ because my grades were really low but she apparently gave me B+ AAHAHHA and i kept emailing her and asking help!!

had her for ENGL 11, she’s easily one of the toughest profs HAHAHA. i personally thought her class would be chill because her modules were really nice and easy to understand, but her standards were very high when it came to grading (even in discussion boards)!!! consulting with her is kinda scary too lol she’s very nice naman but make sure you know ur stuff otherwise she’ll reject anything you say 🤣 i doubt that she curves tho.

had doc perfecto for enlit last qtr! she definitely has high standards for reqs and will really push to get more insight (asks a lot of questions) from the DBs and synch classes! still enjoyed the class despite d workload (a lot! of disc boards, grp work, perusall, etc.) 😊 shes very approachable naman and she replies pretty fast too hehe B-B+ is doable! if you still can, do the optional tasks for each module cos i think it helped with the final grade HAHAHAmore
