Hi OP, i got sir JR last school year. He is one of the best profs ive had so far. He puts a lot of effort into trying to incorporate memes into his discussions and generally is very enthusiastic to the topics. In terms of requirements, he is very light, with a few dbs, two long tests (that are online in canvas mind you), and two historical outputs BY GROUP as your mid-terms and finals (basically a paper debunking a chatgpt generated answer and a podcast about the same topic, respectively). Just make sure to consult with him!!! In terms of grading, he is very generous, an easy A ngl. He gives a lot of bonus points for the requirements (e.g., his LTs have 5 to 7 points worth of bonus, so it would look like 55/50 in canvas). Yesssss so true, definitely was one of my favorite profs ever.Would like to add that taking notes in class is going to be a huge help for the online LTs, don't just rely on the powerpoints. The LTs also have a time limit of 30 mins iirc, and contain ordering of events and fill-in-the-blanks type questions, but everything in the test is mentioned in his discussions nmn. He usually dismisses the class early and uses the extra time for consultations, be sure not to miss these for the paper and podcast. They require primary and secondary sources, so you're gonna have to do some reading and searching in the library, but he does give you recommendations on where to get your sources and what documentaries you can watch.more
