Miss naomi may look intimidating at first but she’s nice and accommodating! She gives constructive and detailed feedback on your works but make sure to atleast give her a week or so to have time to check your projects before you email/ask her for consultation
Classes were usually demos where you follow along as she teaches the needed skills for the next project, she’s really hands on in teaching, I’d say that even if you are a beginner or somebody with experience in adobe programs you will learn something along the way. Her powerpoints are very helpful since it contains all the info you need for the project. She’s rlly knowledgeable in adobe so don’t be afraid to ask her if you are lost, she’d gladly help
She’s very detailed with what she wants in terms of rubrics, make sure to follow the instructions carefully like the file naming and submitting within the deadline since she does not extend🥲 take note that there is a deadline every week and submitting a day late is a letter grade down. Shes serious about her instructions
Overall, B-able and A-able(with a lot of effort) would take her class again!!more
positiveARTS 120
hiii had ma’am naomi last year for ARTS 120: digital studio and tbh she was one of my favorite profs during that sem 💗
[TEACHING STYLE]
Since ARTS 120 is mostly learning about the Adobe platforms/applications, it does really help to have prior experience. Ma’am is really hands-on when it comes to teaching the platforms and she usually teaches how to navigate, use and set-up your software live! She’s also super approachable when it comes to questions so don’t be shy to ask her stuff (also coming from one of her kulet students who’d get lost then ask her sth after two lessons later). Her powerpoints and lessons are also really detailed and tbh all of her lessons will help u throughout ur id / design life esp in subjects like print n pub!!
[WORKLOAD]
Her workload is… very heavy….. and she almost never moves deadlines. I feel like it was because she was still really new when she thought us but we had something to submit every single week (even super heavy and major tasks we did them in like a week or so too…) Our final project was also a bit more cramped as compared to the other classes even after getting an extension. We had like a total of one to two extensions and we had to beg af for it,,,
[CONSULTATIONS]
We were one of her first classes in admu so she was a bit strict with us, but she was really approachable and nice throughout the class!! We were usually able to consult about our grades and feedback after class and she gives really detailed feedback on your work. She also sandwiches it really well so even if she has a lot of constructive criticism, she’ll still point out the strong points of your design. During our final project and also for all the major projects, she also made us pitch our projects which was really helpful cuz she’d give a lot of comments and also points to work on which overall help your art / design direction!! She’s also really active and replies really quickly (so as long as the class beadle kulets and asks her abt something ull most likely get a response frm her!!) We also had a night class and she also allowed us to eat/buy food during session. There were some instances also that she’d let us go outside to buy food esp since we had like 3 hour sessions til 9 pm every week!
[GRADING SYSTEM]
Definitely A-able! She usually grades very fairly and you would really know why you were graded that way. In my case, she gave me pretty high grades for all the outputs that I gave a lot of effort on and some low ones for the mema I forgot they were graded outputs!! I did have prior knowledge to all the Adobe apps which definitely helped but as long as you give a lot of effort to all of the outputs then you’ll be fine!!
Overall really loved Ma’am Naomi because even though it may be a struggle to keep up, you still really learn a lot! She’s also one of the nicest profs ever and she really cares about her students 🫶🫶
