Take him for FILI 11 if you will actually read or watch the assigned work and can sit a short quiz. had him last sem. a really great prof! gives you really straight to the point and insightful guidance in terms of how to write your paper, in both concept and in grammar. not sure if he does it for everyone, but also willing to proofread your paper before submission (grammar wise, but if a whole concept/paragraph needs redoing, he’ll simply let you know what he’s looking for.)
you can also politely explain or defend your paper during consultations and he will try to have an intellectual conversation with you about it! if he sees that you’re trying and that you’re genuinely willing to improve by listening to his suggestions, he’ll help you more :)) definitely A-able if ur able to take everything you’ve learned and put your absolute best towards the next and final outputs. just always be honest with him, he’s very patient. he’s also funny and appreciates a class that is more like a conversation between him and students, don’t be afraid to raise ur hand and turn on ur mic for commentary, questions, or insights. or even jokes lol. solid talaga! makes you really want to learn, even if ur not v good in filipino like me.more

pros:
— he grades high!!! was really expecting a B+ but he gave me an A HAHA
— he doesn’t have strict deadlines hehe just be sure to do everything before the semester ends or before he grades everyone
— exempts people from exams if your grades are high enough
— light workload! his outputs were dbs, quizzes, & groupworks (recorded videos/discussions)
— super funny and fun prof HAHA you’ll look forward to the synch sessions
— you can retake his quizzes
cons:
— i think he had a quiz that was tama/mali but it was baliktad! 😭 (tama= mali, mali=tama) so be mindful of that:)
— some of his quizzes were synchronous
— you only have 10 mins or something to answer his quiz tapos they close after an hour so make sure to answer fast HAHA
— personally, his reqs were super random and not super related to the topic so i feel like i didn’t learn as much compared to fili 11. Most of his assesments were readings not really written works so that might be why

Had him last sem! For context, I’m not good at Filipino at all!
I found his lectures for fili 11 super interesting! They’re different from the typical lessons on communication. We explored the stories of different objects, biographies and etc.
He usually had discussion boards (1-2 per week if I’m not mistaken) We had an intro quiz about the syllabus and the others were pop quizzes about the lesson. So be sure to read the texts before hand!
Syncs were just once a week :3 But he’s super open to having consults. During consults, he’ll give feedback on your paper + help you with an outline.
You can also email him about your concerns and he responds pretty quickly! He’s also willing to read full drafts before submission (just be sure to send it early)
Overall, I’d say he’s B+ / A- able as long as you show him effort! Effort meaning attending consults, asking for feedback, reciting and etc.more

- there are a lot of group discussions, so make sure to do well on those! Also, make sure to follow proper grammar (avoid 'ay') and edit your answers if he hasn't graded it yet.
- don't hesitate to turn on your cam and mic during synchronous classes kasi he's vvvv chill and he prefers it when you ask him questions :>>more

His discussions were fun times and requirements were manageable naman. I can't remember if we had papers pero we had objective multiple choice tests. Definitely better than other fil profs I've had who were boring af and graded like 🙄more

Just make sure to follow his instructions + proper grammar for discussion boards bec he will (and will) edit your answers 🤣💔 Also please attend his lectures. Lectures with sir are really fun! Minsan ang tagal pero sir Aris does his best to be engaging!

also he doesnt like it if you structure your sentences like "ang bagay na to ay....". he'll tell you to rephrase/reword it and remove the "ay"more
