her every module quizzes are easy (if you study) but to get A in her class, you need to get a 3.7. which is possible naman but even if i perfected all quizzes, i still fell short because of the orals wherein i got B+ for both. she’s a great and passionate teacher tho!more

She let my class decide whether it's random or assigned, but my class usually always chose the randomized system so it became the norm :))

Had her online, last semester! She’s a very nice prof, made learning philosophy kinda fun, and also generous with deadlines. Her reqs were short quizzes but heavy on group work (collab synthesis, oral presentation, final report). There’s also a final oral exam 😊more

i love mam aves so much!! my class sakanya ay 5-6:30 yet ive never felt tired because she always jokes and makes sure na the class is fun!! her lessons are life changing, she’s so accommodating and kind. She’ll understand your insights also 🥹🥹 my tip is to beadle sakanya because you’ll get advantage sa the oral exams sign ups!! we had two oral exams and the thesis statements are given naman! for the workload, manageable naman. i would say her standards are quite high and she’s really looking for something na insightful and unique. Her quizzes are more objective type!! review her syllabus also ull have quiz there HAHAHA heavy on grpworks as well and they are randomized! all in all class average was B-B+!! Kaya A with maximum effort and she curves naman. u are in good hands i cried also when i got her kasi naubusan ako slots but i would take her again without a doubt!!more

i’m taking ma’am avecilla currently and i would say she’s very insightful and enlightening. she’s also very millennial tita coded and is generally sm fun during lectures! she values class participation sm and really grounds insights in everyday knowledge or pop culture stuff her workload is so-so, since she does declare this at the start of the sem palang. expect module quizzes which she announces naman mostly! she has midterm and final orals, with thesis statements for the first but general oral defense for the latter. no cue cards or notes allowed unfortunately 😅 personally i think i got lucky sa defense cz i was able to choose my own thesis statement and defend it well (it was a randomized thing thru dice) she’s very particular about rubric and grading though, if you miss one important aspect it may drag your grade down so consult the rubric sa syllabus talaga!! make sure to leave space for ur own personal insights but ground them in actual concepts <3 overall, ur in good hands! i would say she’s a little heavy lang but not impossible to prepare for ^^ orals may just be tricky langmore

VOUCHING FOR MISS AVES!!! in college you’ll get certain professors that change your worldview on certain things miss aves was that prof for me! she really makes the readings simpler and more digestible ++ interesting, especially since ethics itself is already a complex topic. expect group quizzes, a group presentation worth 30% of your grade (ata? idr remember), and 2 orals midterm orals had pre-given thesis statements while the final orals had no thesis statements provided beforehand. just listen, participate, and be willing to learn and justify your beliefs. i’m a person who enjoys taking orals HAHAH so i rlly enjoyed her class since each oral was my chance of proving i know my stuff and i’m actually learning. also no gadgets allowed during class but i didn’t really mind cos andami niyang illustrations minsan so better talaga if you draw them too. definitely A-able, and she’s a super kind and understanding prof too. ❤️❤️more

Hi, I took her class for PHILO 12 last sem! Her class is A and B+ able with effort!! Super worth it siya regardless of the grade you'll get though. She's a very thoughtful person, and thoroughly discusses deadlines and other class set-ups before implementing them. However, it's important to note you're not allowed to retake quizzes even if the excuse is a sickness. One date lang talaga for those, but the quizzes were never difficult. She encourages a lot of class participation during lectures, and provides you with a copy of all of her ppts which are very comprehensive. She knows how to simplify all of the wordy philosophical jargon-- and even if you don't understand, you can always ask her and she'll expound on concepts! Another dealbreaker for some, but one that I didn't mind, is the strict no gadgets rule. All readings must be printed. Her orals were also easy, she values a lot of personal insight during these times so make sure to mention those. Figure out how these concepts resonate with you as an individual. The only thing I didn't like was that there was a lot of groupwork (wahaha introvert!!) so if you can, it might help to have friends to take her class with you. I unfortunately was all alone huhu.more

She was online lang last sy so you wont see any onsite reviews. Assessments - the bulk of your assessments were collaborative synthesis of an ethical case (around 3-4) with a group - she gives really timely input, feedback and comments and shes very open for consultations as well - she was also somewhat lenient with adjusting deadlines - module quizzes were short but very dependent on the readings and modules (so review really well!) - your collaborative synthesis will be presented with your group as well as finalized paper of the synthesis -other groups can also ask u questions! and you are also graded by how you ask questions to other groups - final oral exam had no given thesis statements 💀 but it was easy to handle naman as long as you grasp all the main concepts (best tips is to have a one liner to describe each module) - afaik it was talking for 5-10mins and a few mins for QnA Synch Sessions - she records these but its better if you really attend since she really teaches you to understand the concepts in the simplest terms (pls trust me im so bad at philo) - shes very open to questions and even challenging the concepts she teaches let me know if you need notes or tips! not sure if shes Batch 2-Able but definitely A/B+ with minimal effort, B if you wanna slackmore

Her Canvas modules are A+. She helps you break down the concepts into simpler terms. She also has a looot of nice insights and ideas! A-able with a little effort! 💯 Definitely one of my favorite Philo profs out there 😫more
