Take her if you will listen, keep the phone away, and study for comprehension — several students in this set call that path A-able and straightforward, especially in STS 10 or ENVI 172i. I had her last sem for ENVI 10.01 and I know that her teaching style in one subject reflects how she teaches on another subject. Though probably not a one size fit all thing but you'll get the idea of her character
First of all, Ma’am is A-able with moderately high effort, B+ if you study normal mode. Her questions are really interesting, especially in true or false. You really need to pay attention since her powerpoints are garbage and that most of the information will be verbally spoken. Her identification or short response need a little bit of nuance since she is looking for specific information and she will legit use the point system thriftily if she does not see it (one time I got a 0.25 point from a 1 point question like how tf?). She grades high naman sa essays but of course you need to yap it out and your message has some sense into it.
Though her British accent is an ick to some, honestly she sounds eloquent in it and with that, she shows conviction and knows what she is talking about. She teaches very well, even getting back to you if you have questions she may not know the answer to yet.
In terms of classroom policy, you can use your gadgets naman pero parang awa, don’t abuse it. The reason why she is strict to some is that some people just use their phone to look at ig reels or even watch the Lakers game. She knows it, kasi she sees you if you’re looking at the phone and chuckle. Also note that she memorizes names relatively quickly and she is not afraid to call you out if ever you are caught (tho iirc the first offense she would remind the class as a general reminder bago sya magpinpoint ng tao).
Overall, I think she is worth the consideration though you do not want to get to her bad side. Do good to see good. She is a normal prof, though rather terror if ayaw mo talaga sa kanya.more

hi i had ms. dayrit for ENVI 172i! it was honestly my favorite class. ms. dayrit is def one of my favorite profs. her discussions are very in depth and insightful, and her answers to questions are always very detailed ! she’s always prepared for every session and responds pretty quickly.
in terms of requirements, our only assignment was to give a group, seminar-like presentation in class about an environmental issue that you’ll sign up for at the beginning of the sem. she also provides a reading for each topic which are honestly enough for the whole presentation. there’s some short quizzes, then the tests. the tests are the most challenging since ms. dayrit looks for application and understanding, so it doesn’t have much to do with memorizing. for us, in the final test, we were allowed to bring our laptop and print resource material so that we could research because we had to write an essay about one of the listed social/ environmental issues.
i HIGHLY recommend ms. dayrit, but you should be prepared to really listen during the discussions because the tests usually have short essay questions and an essay question at the end, so there’s a lot of synthesizing and applying of what you learned. i suggest reading into/ staying updated with current environmental issues, what happens in envi movements, and such so that you can provide more in depth discussions in the tests. this course will really focus on the social issues aspect of environmental science, so stay updated with those. this was one of my favorite envi courses that ive taken, and the way ms. dayrit delivered it really helped with its impact.
overall, A/B-able depending on the effort you put !

NO tests in lab! puro lab experiments with your lab group (either u pick or based where u sit), however ur experience will definitely change if u honestly get bad and i mean BAD groupmates. tbh even if theres peer evals they still weigh lower compared to other criterias.
how she grades:
medj labo yung pagkagrading nya. she sometimes wouldnt give proper feedback in your group papers, meaning u wouldnt know why ur grade is like this. in one group paper, she graded us LOW and when i checked the returned paper, there were no comments
what to expect:
1. plant care project
- monitor your plant throughout the entire sem
- if im not mistaken, you’ll get -5 if namatay yung plant mo but if its alive, youll receive full credit (10/10)
2. lab experiments
3. culminating activity (lab + lec final)
- preparation will be with your groupmates where you pick a topic on what lesson you wanna to teach hypothetically to ags/ajhs students
- puro drafts and presentation
4. strict on tardy/half cuts and proper lab attire
- youll basically have 10 points throughout the sem and shell deduct a 0.5 of your points if tardy and 1 point if not in proper lab attire

please please please try ur best to find the right groupmates in your class, this will actually help increase your chance in getting an A if all your groupmates didnt rely on u, dont be like me who cried after their presentation cos of bad groupmates ✌️😂more

i had her for envi sci lecture...her tests were crazy. Like you HAVE TO STUDY. and it's not the type you can cram too. Tbh she teaches well but her long tests were pretty hard because it's mostly you explaining/giving examples of the topics. If i remem correctly we had like 3 long exams? 2 midterms and a final i think.
I remember she graded us for our culminating activity, she was really nice about it...as long as you show that you put in good effort and have good and realistic ideas then you'll be fine. As someone who is not good at science at all, she's p ok. If you got her as ur prof, u'll be okay naman!

i agree! Her class was really interesting. It required me to study well and listen in class. I had to make sure that I understood the concepts she taught too, so I could explain them well in the tests she gave. It was difficult at times but worth it. I honestly enjoyed.
I wouldn’t say it’s something you can pass easily if you don’t take notes and study. I had times where I didn’t do that well because I failed to pay attention or take time to review my notes. But otherwise, my classmates and I enjoyed and did well when we put in the effortmore

I don't agree with the presumptuous description. In my defense, she would return the LTs folded and the essay part is always on the back side of the last page. I would always look at my mates' paper whenever it was handed to them since it had been my mission to see a score less than 10 after observing that the prior ones were all 10. Most, if not all, of them were 10s. I missed around 3 papers out of the 80+ she handed out the whole sem.more

Hello! For Long Tests, iirc clearly it was all essays. 4 or 5 short answers (1-3 sentences, and 2 or 3 long ones (10 sentences max). Unlike her quizzes where you need to memorize concepts, in her long quizzes you're expected instead to have an in depth understanding of the lessons. In the short answers, you'll have to explain the concept in your own words while in the long one, it's being applied to a real-world issuemore

Real review: Easy-A. PPT has really organized info. Discusses only the important points. Quizzes are easy to perfect, just memorize basic definition. LTs are A-able. They measure how well you understood the topics, not how well you memorize the PPT content word by word.

in a word, her poorly graded assessments and consistent passive aggresiveness is masked in a "objective" style and "tough love" teaching.
honestly, her pure essay assessments dont really "encourage you to think" but rather to simply parrot what was mentioned in class. missing just a simple detail she wants mentioned can heavily affect your score. not to mention that LTs are only over 30-40. when this "total score" was negotiated to ease the low scores, she would just sternly brush it off for the reason being that it is her boundaries. while i respect that, it translates to me to be a lack of empathy towards students who are struggling. she was also quite confusing to communicate with on the final project which makes up 20% of the grade. above all, minor requirements are also very heavy despite holding such small percentages.
in general also, discussions have insight but content remains to nearly be irrelevant.more

idk why ppl dont like ma’am when all she asks is basic respect when someones in front talking/teaching (aka the gadget ban bc somehow ppl still manage to just be so disrespectful w it), anyway! had her for envi tho i got a C+ (tanked by group work haha) i still loved having her. she’s accommodating, funny, and very nice naman and ofc super knowledgeable so if u come frm stem esp youll love taking her esp since her tests (frm my experience) were always kasali sa lectures niya (so take notes !!!) and super organized w lec (verbal)! no joke sometimes its word per word enumeration lang. she likes mixing it up (test types) but shes rlly forgiving w essay as long as you answer with the lesson in mind and follow the rules she outlines (like min. 10 sentences, even if you answer a gray area type answer as long as you defend it well she’ll give you a 10 :D) also shes really passionate ab what she teaches, and it was nice having a prof that made u think and care for more of the anthropogenic effects of humanity on the world :’) (in short naging makabuluhan naman class niya for me, like a theo or philo would be… she does encourage you to think as much as a science class would have u since its core nmn talaga wud be to learn terms and whatnot lol)more

take this observation with a grain of salt (and idk if other people share the same thing) but i was in a class which had science-heavy program people as the majority while my friends and i are in the minority and we're from a not-so-sciencey-program. the people who had a good stem background scored better and i'd like to believe that her teaching style and assessments were something that our other classmates were familiar with already. and i assume many people who are saying she's okay have an edge with science subjects so it's pretty understandable why many would recommend her. as for me and my friends, we struggled acing her assessments, especially the long exams even though we understood the concepts by ourselves cause she's particular with the explanations. on the bright side, she's great with discussions and engaging as well! it's just that if u don't know how science teachers craft their assessments or questions, you'll need to exert more effort before you can get comfy with her style. the 10 pt quizzes will def help, but you need to prepare a lot for her long exams.more
