just finished passing my final requirement for him. he’s pretty chill pero he hasn’t returned any of our grades yet which is concerning. he doesn’t gaf abt attendance and is super lenient naman. he knows his shit and is super passionate but he’s not that good at lecturing. so if u rlly wanna learn, you have to either pierce through his teaching style in class or be resilient by doing the readings urself. we had 2 lts for him (onsite and both in canvas—i think he doesn’t gaf abt us googling answers or referring to notes/materials while taking the exams, pero di pa rin kami nagpahuli ofc hahaha). we had workshops (ungraded), group papers, recorded reportings, a blog/vlog requirement and a final paper. i’d one-up the recent comment that talked abt him not observing the magna carta for ug students. for context, super late siya nag bigay ng instructions for our final paper tapos 2-3 days lang ata timeframe ng paggawa. pero kasi madali lang rin naman yung paper and super doable naman lol so i think compared to profs that rlly kicked my ass in admu, this was nothing. i might be getting ahead of myself for concluding this since di pa nag rerelease ng grades. pero, overall, he’s okay. i’d pick him over any prof na dimunyo whahaha. he just rlly needs to improve his teaching style, i.e., his intonation, delivery, cadence, etc to actl keep students engaged. all the reviews i saw in terms of him grading low and having extremely high standards are from other courses. so sana safe final grade ko sa kanya for ANTH 141.2 🥹🙏🏽more

I took two classes with him (SA 104 and SA 119 - Cultural Anthropology) and truthfully he can be quite kalat, but honestly keri yung mga classes. He’s very passionate about research so he would tend to ramble on. Admittedly, when he does this, I tend to space out pero the times I actually listen there is something that you can pick up from what he’s saying that can feed into your method for research. Requirements include a book report about a certain ethnography (you’ll be given two weeks to read with ur groupmates), field work, field notes (be as extensive as possible), and the ethnographic research paper. Doc Canuday is a very busy guy, being Chair of the SA dept being only one of his many responsibilities so it is important na kulitin siya para maalala niya yung isang article na kailangan niyang isend sa group mo. He’s not entirely the best prof, but there are ways you can make the prospect of him being your prof work for you. He’s approachable, and that can be used to your advantage.more

Canuday is really amazing and v intelligent. He can go on and on about anything that comes to mind because theyre all relevant to the discussion and to his main point. He kind of goes all over the place, but his thought process and analysis is something else altogether. I wouldnt say na he grades high, but its very hard to fail his class (I took 104 and 119 Cultural Anthro). He’s very into research and fieldwork and will point out inconsistencies with your outputs. He’s late to class and sometimes absent bc of departmental work, but overall he’s great. Warning: instructions can be malabo and he is not a fast replier!!! BUT he’s always open to moving a deadline and super easy to talk to. In 104 Research paper (and anything that goes with it) is worth 55% of your grade.more

Hi! Just finished the sem I took him in. He's honestly very disorganized when it comes to posting canvas modules and explaining concepts. He def knows his shit and is super knowledgeable abt anth and socio, but he kept info-dumping to us to the point that we couldn't understand what he was saying:(( his standard for an A is super high (starting from 96) and he doesn't give grades higher than 93.
