sorry in advance about how scattered this review is 😭 basically, she’s a REALLY GOOD PROF! she uses her psych knowledge to make her students learn as much as possible :DD e.g. taking advantage of what helps keeps things in long term memory, coming up with very interesting but effective mnemonics (you might learn what i mean by this.), and not allowing gadgets in class because of numerous studies that show they hinder retention and recall. she also does many small activities in class that relate to the lesson, keeping you engaged! for example we had to map out what the different stimuli in a given situation was when we learned classical conditioning, we did memory tests, puzzles, etc. these are graded but dw cuz they’re not really hard she also has a very approachable vibe, she jokes around in class often (quite clever with this!) and shares stuff about her life (often abt her husband; he actually lectured for us one day about different kinds of brain scans! cuz he’s a radiologist), and is very caring and motherly towards her students ^^ overall a very fun and interesting prof! will make you love the field of psychology even more. her LTs are a bit challenging tho; we had 3 LTs, each covering multiple chapters in the textbook (Psychology by Ciccarelli & White). iirc they were: 1. history of psych as a science + physiological psych 2. learning + memory + development 3. social psych + theories of personality 100 items (all objective), majority multiple choice, 2-10 identification items at the end, 2 bonus questions (usually relating to stuff we did in class; for example, one was a puzzle we previously solved, while another was a sequence of letters we had to memorize) written on the actual answer sheet there’s a good amount of application, but you also have to memorize terms, names, etc. sometimes even for seemingly small random stuff 💀 she has short quizzes as well, one for every chapter. they’re all 15 items, objective, multiple choice, and usually don’t have bonus questions. you’re also only given 10 minutes to answer them, then you have to pass your bluebooks around and one of your classmates will grade it sometimes, items directly from the the short quizzes show up in the long test! also, I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW HELPFUL THE BOOK WILL BE! her lectures (she does onsite lectures and posts some video ones iirc? but i forgot if that was just due to suspensions), modules, and slides have a good amount of info, but the book REALLY expounds on stuff that can’t be covered due to time constraints, so it helps cement the concepts in your mind. also, her LTs always have stuff not included in the lectures etc. and ONLY included in the book (not that much though, 10% of items at most). please take advantage of the practice quizzes in the textbook as well!! both cuz that’s just a good way to learn, and sometimes items on her tests are directly taken from there HAHA our main project was a digital magazine where your group is assigned a certain chapter in the book, and you all have to write research-backed articles about a specific topic relevant to said chapter + design the magazine itself. the type of chapters are: Special Profile (prominent psychologist today) Current Events (recent scientific findings/developments) Think Piece (mythbusting) Opinion Piece (debate two sides) Special Feature (prominent historical figure that relates to your group’s topic) Service Piece (advice) GET GOOD GROUPMATES PLS AND START EARLY!!! (the instructions and chapters are given very early in the sem iirc) there are also some required reading assignments (she has a pretty research-oriented curriculum) but these aren’t too challenging! also, she loves when students ask questions! you can ask her anything, like about the lesson, her life, career advice, etc. just don’t bombard her ofc haha you’re in good hands, she’s one of my fav profs, absolutely wonderful wholesome person 🙌🙌more

HANDS DOWN, Ma'am GT is one of the sweetest, most student-centered, most motherly, and just overall a very remarkable prof and person in general! you'll see just how much she cares and supports her students and how truly passionate she is with the subject once you go along the sem!! Iirc, she's been teaching GenPsyc for over a decade, so she really knows how to explain and break down big concepts into ways we can better understand and appreciate! She's definitely a life-changer, for she deepened my love for psychology as a field! Workload-wise, it's defo going to be a handful, mainly bcs once we finish discussing a chapter of the book, there would usually be a quiz that would happen directly on the next class day, so i suggest studying a bit of the current chapter ahead when you can so as to not overwhelm yourself too much, especially with the other graded tasks that can pile on top of it :,> What i also love about ma'am is how genuinely open she is in sharing her own personal experiences whenever she imparts life advice! Often, she would fondly share small anecdotes about her and her husband (a radiologist) during class to make certain topics feel more relatable and engaging! On a personal level, I once asked ma'am after class for her insights on the subject of love as I recently entered a relationship with a dear friend of mine, and needed advice on how to navigate it given some personal doubts/fears and our goals in life. Her advice still sticks to me to this day and honestly helps me stay grounded. She even told me I could always send her an email whenever I needed more of her counsel🤍 I would undoubtedly take her class again on loop if ever I had the chance to!! It was the only class that sem with whose onsite sessions I would always look forward to, despite the workload :>> You're in really great hands, OP! May you enjoy and have as much fun in Ma'am GT's classes as much as I did!^^more

hi, sem's ending so i'll give a full review na ma'am is probably the best prof i have had in my college life huhu, and this class is the best i've ever taken EVER since i took it second semester the pacing is a bit faster, but you can expect quizzes (which are objective type), weekly rewirements, and happy boost activities (which is a group assignment that requires each team to facilitate an activity incorporating two strategies for happiness). you aren't allowed to use gadgets, but the way ma'am lectures is so good you won't get bored. she's also very organized and timely with the canvas modules and the quizzes are super bearable as long as you take notes and read the lecture notes it might seem very scary when she's discussing the syllabus but it's really not, she's a very kind prof and super accommodating as well. she'll also join the class during happy boost activities, which is arguably the best part of this class because you get to interact with other classmates and kinda just chill. haven't done the final assessment which is a creative synthesis, but she grades high as long as you put in the effort. overall very memorable class, prof, and an elective i would recommend to incoming seniors. please take her class, you won't regret it 🥹more

Hi! I had Mrs. GT last sem, and I learned a lot and enjoyed her classes talaga. :3 She is very good at teaching, as in magegets mo talaga yung topic and ang galing niyang mag-explain ng concept and she's very game na sumagot ng mga tanong. She has a lot of interesting fun facts and quizzes relating to each module. Plus, she invited her husband (a radiologist from PGH) to discuss imaging with us! So yeah, there is never a dull moment in class 💖 In terms of her assessments, you really need to study well for them because they are not easy. Manageable with enough studying, but definitely not easy. She is very understanding, approachable, and kind. Basta, just study well, study in advance, do the readings, and let your child-like sense of curiosity roam free in her class. You will definitely have fun while learning a lot. :>more

Shes fun and entertaining while teaching and she usually has a quiz after every module which helps you keep track of what you learn. hello!! ma’am GT is really nice and very friendly, and she enjoys what she’s teaching talaga considering that she’s the one who created the subj to begin with :)) she doesn’t allow gadgets in her class tho, so you have to take notes by hand and sometimes you have to be a bit speedy with writing, but you can ask her to go back to the slides again naman but it doesnt happen much because she does wait to make sure that the class is done writing down all the important info before moving on ! she emphasizes certain things in her lectures, so be sure to listen talaga to her discussions (which isnt hard naman kasi the topics are interesting) also keep an ear out for her kwentos and fun facts because sometimes they show up as bonuses hehe the group projects are fun too ! it really brings the class closer together because the class will participate in every single one of the group proposals, though the conceptualization of the proj might be a bit hard kasi she wants something unique that incorporates the lessons from the subject talaga. watch out for the animal assisted therapy sessions btw bc my class had that when we were under her and i loved it 🥹🥹 i would say that shes very fair in her grading, and you have to really listen and study and memorize but once you get the hang of how she tests, it gets easier !! i would say that her class is B+ -able with effort hehemore
