hello !! took him for Indian Philo last sem. i think it would be his first time teaching philo 12 this sem, so i can only refer to my experience in indian philo for this review.
Doc Chandima did his best to meet us where we were as students. He tries to make the course relatable for students, in such a way that he would make us cite our own experience and he would relate it to the Buddhist or Hindu virtue that's being discussed.
additionally, he also grades fairly high and the workload is pretty light. only four throughout the whole sem, (1) dyad reporting, (2) multiple choice quiz, (3) final paper, and (4) final oral exam.
however, expect tons of questions during your report and final exam. i dont think he asks questions because you're wrong, but he's just genuinely curious about your stance and position on it.
another important thing to note din pala is that we were assigned our pair, and also our topic for the report and final essay.
also, the final exam is like defending your final essay. he would read parts of your essay and he would ask for clarification or further insights. then possibly, real life application. it's honestly the most relaxing oral exam i had as a philo major so far. so i would say to invest properly in your final essay para you can proudly yap during the final oral exam 😺more

acc to his syllabus, his grading system uses the 3.8-4.0 scale instead of the usual 92-100 for A. sooo that would translate to roughly 95-100 to get an A for his class ^-^ ++ he also provides bordeline grade considerations if you accomplish all ungraded weekly DBs. overall good experience with doc!more

he is sooo nice and understanding just study well for that midterm lol it feels very random! also scheduling consultation w him is so so helpful for orals + your papers + presentations... each major activity has a pretty heavy weight so it helps to be extra prepared so u know what he's looking for! very a-able imomore

his philo 12 is about buddhism, and i came into it not knowing anything and still got an A (wasnt expecting it at all)
only a few reqs too: canvas DBs, one grp presentation about a given topic (super easy), mulcho midterm test, indiv paper, final oral exam about indiv papermore

from my experience he does grade pretty fairly! For papers and presentations consult w him and he’ll tell u exactly what he’s looking for! For the tests however yeah those are purely objective n he doesn’t budge for any other potential answer so rly study well for thosemore

Gangdawila is super nice omg! He teaches Buddhism and honestly i so preferred that over other Philos. It was easy to digest, not too difficult, and he's really nice and understanding! He teaches in English though coz he's a foreigner! But I think he's an easy A/B+! Just keep an open mind!more

Honestly he’s super nice and understanding and it’s not that difficult to meet the 3.8 for an A! He likes it when you consult with him and he kind of tells you exactly what he’s looking for. Just study for the one exam and you should be fine tbh! I do recommend him if you’re interested in Buddhismmore
