Late but to anyone who took him, his load is hella light. I remember barely attending class or listening so if you need light workload for the sem then this guy is for you BUT there's only 3 requirements -> class presentation, final presentation, and indiv paper so you shud get high for all sana if u want a high grade but worry not i think he is an easy B like barely any work but in terms of A, is kind of hard and i feel like he is looking for something specific or u hv to be really passionate vibes because he doesnt give any samples. I think class average was B to B+. There is a rubric though and he gives back grades if you ask him. Lecture wise, you might not wanna go to him for life changing stuff. We have 2 onsites in a week, makes students present once a week and he also does once a week lecture but we never finished the syllabus nor covered half (cuz ang haba and he just freely lectures wt student insights). If you want an A and ur grade conscious i suggest consulting with him about ur paper topics and have a gud final presentation so he remembers you :> Make sure it's also really research based and have good topics to discuss. He is a-able naman I got an A (altho i was scared cuz I wasnt really sure he hard to read like that) and I just went for it sa final paper and presentation even tho I didnt get an A sa class presentation. I also barely recited or participated much so just do well sa requirements but I think it is a plus if he remembers youmore

Hi!! So, yes, I do agree with the comments. Not easy A at all. However, if you have good grasp of the lessons and good groupmates, an A is possible. He has three requirements: presentation, a paper, and final orals. First, you will make a presentation on a suggested chapter of “A Hero’s Journey” (Unless it changes) by Joseph Campbell. Good groupmates + link to PHILO is key. Second, you will write a paper on any of the topics discussed in classs. He even recommends you not to cram, and he is right. Please do not cram. Finally, like the paper, a student would select a topic however di pwede repeat of presentation or paper topic. Sobrang gaan ang workload. However, his discussions are heavy and not engaging. He is passionate; however, he does struggle to connect with the students and get them to understand. He does get pretty sad about the lack of engagement. Usually, his questions are more like “any comments/remarks?” or “what do you feel?”. Only a few participated. I felt bad that I tried to BS my inputs on the lesson. But tbh, it was not easy to comprehend, as he stuffed different philosophies in one sem worth of learning. Overall, though unengaging, light workload and B-able (A-able if you are rlly good).more

super chill class, relies on beadle for attendance, would appreciate if the class recites, reqs are a presentation, papers, and orals, can be hard to understand due to his thick german accent but hes super kind and is willing to explain concepts to the class if it seems like its hard to digest (+ i think the default grade he gives is b, i could be wrong tho)more

Yup same thoughts! The workloads pretty chill unlike the other Philo profs/classes. Also sir doesn’t usually post grades or give feedback automatically so you have to ask him directly either in person or via email.more

Yess he only had 3 reqs for the whole sem. Most of his onsite sessions were us watching another group present a chapter analysis on the course's main reading and so they get boring. The course is very very "light" in the sense that u practically dont do anything until the 3 deadlines start coming along. He grades saks lang, around B or B+ with effort.more

yup! just answer his questions whenever u can. sit in the front too so he can remember you. do well on the presentations, he doesnt really ask much but be engaging and passionate and relate it to the philo topics !more
