i forgot how i ended up taking his class because i don't actively follow any professional sports/players & i'm not really into that whole world but i LOVED sir ruey. but that's because i love to write. he's an amazing teacher with the most entertaining & insightful kwentos about EVERYTHING you can think of regarding the history of sports, sports & sports teams & players, everything, both local & international. i was just in awe of his brain. you'll have a lot of papers but trust me he'll make you want to work hard on them! 9/10 he's late for class but don't cut because you'll definitely miss out! A-able af. he's one of my favorites! expect: papers x 19247280000 teaching style: he just makes it one massive conversation tips: DO YOUR RESEARCH! as in siguro 50 tabs will be open on your laptop while doing your final paper haha. but the whole class is honestly so interesting you won't mind. you also won't have a hard time listening to his lectures- it's obvious he lives & breathes sports. he got annoyed with me once because i came in like one hour late hahaha so don't do thatmore

SIR RUEY IS THE BEST PROF EVER!!! ❤️ I took him for 2 straight sems and I enjoyed every class. He makes a real effort to get to know each student in his class. He’s very open-minded and loves discourse so if you have any questions or random kwentos, he’ll be there to listen and engage in convo. His online classes are not much different than on-site because he really keeps the class engaged in the lesson. He’s very consistent when giving assignments (clear with due dates, instructions, and what he’s looking for) and grades very high. Altho, I don’t think he’s an easy A because he is VERY patricular with grammar, brevity, and word choice. He’s my favorite prof talaga hahaha and I HIGHLY suggest that you take him. His class definitely made me a better writer 😀more

I took him for Writing About Culture and he's really unpredictable with his time! Almost every session he'd be late for almost an hour, sometimes even two. His workload was light and he grades really high but sobrang nasayangan ako 'cause I really felt I could've learned so much more from the class if only he gave more lectures. Also, I felt disappointed with the class itself because he didn't explain much of how journalism can have a thread that ties closely to culture and how culture has multiple facets journalism can go into. We just did a lot of reviews on books, movies, etc. and I felt it wasn't enough to conclude on that Subject Titlemore

My friend had him for feature writing then sports writing (2-5, 5-8). Sir Ruey was unpredictable with his arrival time HAHAHA as in kahit na nandun na siya at 330 for our 2-5, malalate pa rin daw siya for the 5-8. Zzzzz. I took feature writing, and it was chill naman. He's written a lot so he knows his stuff, and his stories are fairly interesting. A little strict about formatting, but not exaggeratedly so. (Not sure if you'll really...learn anything, though. HAHAHA pero feature writing naman yun.)more

+ more on sir Ruey (but I only had him for Feature Writing): Classes were super fun and interesting and ya true na 1-2 hours late siya every class huhu. Mataas siya mag-grade and he himself says so! He’s super experienced in the field (and he has interviewed famous celebrities you can search online his articles.) Overall super duper fun and chill classmore

[ONLINE] ⚡️ since there's no 2020 thread for him, here's a review for his COMM 180.13 (Online Journalism) class! - Manageable requirements; assignments are based on type of online journalism output (ex. topic article, webcast, breaking news report). we wrote at least one new thing every two? three weeks ⌚️✅ - Synch class every Thurs evening, which you end up going to because his discussions are v energetic and enthusiastic abt the topic/timely with current events - Recit based on discussion boards, mostly objective (madalas opinyon mo re: current social issues) - Zoom savvy - Grades high! I got an A for all my submissions, he puts little comments to show appreciation too heh Highly recommend!!more
