The quizzes are very easy (you just have to read the readings thoroughly). Besides, he only gives quizzes for PH 101 only. For the written LT for PH 101, we just need to choose a day from the dates Sir Lagliva allotted for the written LT (for each day, he posts a different thesis statement on his pigeonhole), and then explain the thesis statement of that day either on a blue book or typewritten on A4, to be submitted to the pigeonhole by 5:00 on that same day (no looking at books and notebooks, please). Finally, for the oral LTs (both PH 101 and PH 102), he posts the thesis statements on his pigeonhole a week before the time allotted for the oral LTs, and he also posts a sign-up sheet at the Dela Costa Hall Bulletin Board (near the bookshop). You then sign up for your slot there, and then when you have your orals on that day and time specified in the sign up sheet, Sir Lagliva will ask you to pick from a set of cards corresponding to the thesis statement (but there is also a "wildcard" from that set of cards which enable you to pick whatever thesis statement you want). You explain the thesis statement for 8 minutes, and the remaining 2 minutes for Q and A. He gives out the results the day after your scheduled orals. :)more

took him 1st sem and it was one of the most enjoyable classes ive had (sir's humor is top-tier) !! he doesn't have a PPT. he just writes the important details from the lesson on the whiteboard kaya i suggest you take notes as much as you can talaga. he explains the concepts using the class as examples ahaha every meeting, there's someone who'll be used by sir as an example (he asks permission beforehand).
while we met twice a week, he tries to dismiss the class early if he can!! he also checks attendance btw. he does roll call before and after class.
Assessments are ONLY 3 lang kaya medyo delikado if u score low sa isa 💀 we only had 1 video presentation, reflection paper, and orals. kaya get good group mates if u can.
overall, he makes philo 13 digestible kasi the book he uses in class (& requires us to have a copy of) is kind of hard to understand. however, sir makes it easy to learn. medyo marami nga lang siyang nasasabing maganda kaya it's hard to take notes sometimes 😂
as far as i remember, he's strict on using filipino only for orals and the paper? correct me if im wrong though.
overall, legendary prof would take again 💯more

You don't have to worry,! I took him last sem and there were also other students who were not fluent in English. Ofc he wants the students to try, but he didn't force the students who weren't fluent in Filipino naman. Just prepare for the orals, because the questions were in Filipino, but it was honestly so CHILL, and he doesn't mind if you speak Taglish (he also didn't deduct points from us before). Also!! It would help if you take notes during his class (a must) and read the book he recommended, because it will really help you in orals. His discussions were mainly in Filipino, but I'm sure you'll follow 'cause he'll ask before class if there are students who aren't fluent too. He ended up being my fave prof last sem because he teaches really well, and I agree—you're living other students' dream by being able to enlist in his class. Don't worry too much, and you can always talk to him regarding your concern :)) Good luck,!more

sessions: twice a week but he always dismissed us early! discussions can get slow but always interesting and funny with his "flavor of the day" examples... had the best laughs in college in this class! WRITE NOTES! you'll thank urself towards the end 😚
reqs: iirc 3 lang! nothing too heavy and he's very lenient w deadlines 🫶🏻 his standards are also reasonable! just make sure your outputs have substance and actual correlation to the discussion/readings
orals: if you listened to his discussions properly and understood him and how he viewed the concepts, URE SUPER GOOD! With proper note taking and CONVICTION, u can ace the orals 🫵🏻🫶🏻
conclusion: would take him for philo than any other profs ! 🤪

Took him in my third year. Very light requirements. He only required a video, a paper and an oral exam i think. You will most likely have to write/speak in Filipino but i think there was one req where he allowed English. Most readings if not all are in Filipino. Overall hes a fun prof. The only thing i dont like about him is that he doesnt use presentations. He mainly writes on the blackboard.more
