Tbh I feel like while sir is not the best prof u can get, he's not the worst. What me and my friend did was copy his slides word for word during class. Anything he asks in the LT is in the slides. He always has multiple choice questions, problem solving, essay in his LT. Also, depending on the topic, he has diagram drawing for structures, compound naming, balancing equations, and electron configuration writing. The hard part is usually the essay cuz u usually have 4-5 questions for 5 pts each and its usually some application of the concepts, tho he uses things he gives in class (siguradong nasa slides ung topic pero he explains verbally). Pay attention to the topics that seem unrelated cuz he usually uses them in the trivia or essay. He has around 3-5 bonus questions at the end of each test and its about fun facts like the cat in Schmitt and his middle initial. He also has problem sets so its best if u do them early so that u can compare with ur friends the answers cuz he doesn't release the answers (available kasi hanggang end of sem and u can submit anytime). Also, there's a final project where u have an infographic and presentation he nitpicks about the infographic and doesn't grade super high but he tells naman what u should improve on so that u know what to do for the presentation. I dont think he's a bad prof overall he just doesn't check attendance and doesn't give slides. He's approachable as well. I think our class did well? I got an A and most of my friends A/B+ so its not that bad.more

honest answer sir was better than what the reviews say on here (at least in my experience) • lecture-wise • i sat near the front so i could really hear him well naman. his volume is okay naman, but that could also be because the room was smaller. pro tip is just to take a seat near the front. • u do about 1-2 lessons per day, depending on how long they are. not a lot of assessments in between except for a few homework. • teaches okay naman & has applics for each lesson • assessment-wise • three LTs and a final • were all pretty challenging but definitely doable with review • if you took chem in HS this would be pretty standard i’d say. otherwise just study well • multi choice, lesson-specific, computation, essay questions • other notes • he seemed pretty lenient sa attendance for us • made us choose between (a) unli-cuts or (b) posted lec slides. try as much as u can to convince ur class to get the lec slides bc they will be reallllllly helpful for LTs. • having the slides will help u bc u can take note everything else that he discusses that aren’t on the slides — super important info when reviewing for the LT • if u are confused abt any concepts, don’t be shy to ask him or consult after class!! accommodating naman si sir grades-wise, me and my friends got an A naman (if not, B+). you’ll be okay! just put in the work 🤗💙more

I cant really give a detailed explanation because whatever the hell his class was, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had 😭 You couldn’t hear him in class because he mumbled his words (plus he cant hold eye contact for some reason and didn’t share ppts), he didn’t give any assignments/homework so your final grade is based off 3 LTs and the final exam (all of which had material unrelated to what he taught), AND was in a bad mood most of the time 😂 He gave “short cuts” to his lessons but tbh it just complicated things because he would ramble on and on about it. If you’re going to take his class, I suggest to get a tutor who will teach you everything in the module coverage because I didn’t learn anything much from him besides how to bull my way through his class just to get it over with already 😭 The topics were interesting but the environment in his class doesn’t foster learning and critical thinking whatsoever, it was always if you’re wrong then you’re wrong. He might seem nice at first but wait til he snaps after you get the wrong answer, ask innocent questions, or if doesn’t have his morning coffee hahahahamore

practicals are all based on the experiments you’ve done hehe, so kaya naman siya as long as super hands-on ka during those exps. ta’s we didn’t use agar or other liquids aside from water, so basically water lang talaga yung gagamitin for everything hehe. BUT he’s really critical and observant with how you execute the experiment. like, he will subtract points fr if you don’t wash your hands first thing or if you forget to clean your workspace afterward. generally, it will encompass all the skills you’ve learned in lab ‘yung written exams naman are relatively easy. iirc, they’re mostly short-answer questions based on the procedures, plus a few situationers where you identify what went wrong in a given scenario (which was actually fun). there were also define/describe questions about important concepts related to the experiments. for example, at what temperature denaturation occurs, describe what a psychrophile is, and other details like thaaatmore

I don’t really remember the final exam too much, apart from the fact that it wasn’t too bad (esp because it was open notes) and he gave a lot of bonus questions at the end of the quiz. Afaik he doesn’t curvemore

i forgot to say, he pitches either unli cut and no ppt or ppt but recorded cuts; we chose posted ppts with recorded cuts, but like by the second half of the semester, he just stopped recording our attendance + he also doesn’t count half cuts (so if you’re late, you’re still present because he only counts cuts at the end of class) Also also he ends class early kind of a lot!more

Having taken Chem 21.11 twice, I can say with certainty that if you’re in his hands, you’re not where you want to be. His classes seem to be just a snippet of what actually shows up on the quizzes. The truth is, if you’re expecting to do well by relying solely on his lectures without putting in extra work, it’s probably not going to work out. I can say with full certainty his lectures will not be enough to do well. Easily the worst prof I’ve ever had the misfortune to be under.more

he’s pretty chill sa lab tip for pre-lab worksheets: take note of what he requires to be written on your pre-labs because he gives demerit if there are certain parts that are missing. Also make sure to make it concise (not copied directly from the guide). You must write the notes or cautions of the experiments. Also don’t be late on lab sessions because he gives a short quiz about the experiment (just read the booklet) every before the session and it’s recorded as quiz and attendance Overall, A-able if you’re very particular with your pre-labs and lab worksheets and if you don’t miss your quizzes. Make sure to read the syllabus because that’s where he states the DON’TSmore

Hi! Had him last sem for lec and honestly, he wasn’t that bad! We gad a fairly small classroom and he addressed the volume concerns na (like he said he saw the reviews on his prof evals said they couldn’t hear him and asked the class to tell him when he wasn’t talking loudly enough) He’s pretty approachable in my opinion, very open to questions kahit just going to his office at schmitt with no warning. His tests…honestly the first one was really really easy; do well on that because you’ll need it to pull you second quiz grade up. The third quiz was alright lang naman. The finals was open notes (basta physical notes) and it was ok lng din. He said his previous classes usually average a C or C+ in his class but I’m not sure if that’s true anymore because I’ve always sucked at chem and i managed a B. TLDR: he’s honestly not that bad!more

Run far away, 😭 his class genuinely caused me so much stress, it's insane. I didn't really take anything away from his classes, lessons can be dragging and sometimes he goes off topic to ramble, couldn't really hear him either (and I was even sitting close to the front), and the way he explained stuff just made me even more confused and resort to learning through YouTube videos tbh... Overall, definitely not easy A and you'd need to put in A LOT of effort and sacrifice your blood, sweat, and tears just for like a B, maybe A 😭🫠more

did not like him as a teacher but not that bad. there were some concepts that were really difficult understand and he didn’t make it any easier when explaining it to us, but his slides really helped. a lot of self studying if I’m completely honest. he also curves so I got a grade higher than what I expected. then again, our class was one of his first classes in chem so you might have a better experience since I heard na he’s improved a lot. If you have a chem background, then he’s not that bad but if you don’t, listen and really take notes (and a lot of practice!) overall easy c (b if you’re lucky); a with effortmore

honestly not that bad? might be because i was in a section that did decently well and participated a lot so even if we were kinda scared by the reviews a lot of us passed. Kinda chill with lab. for lec just make sure to listen to his explanations about the class syllabus he sticks to the policies religiously and outlines how things work in his class. He gives out practice tests way before long tests so you'll have ample time to review everything. def not glazing on him too hard bec there were times that his teaching style didnt click with me or i was straight up scared of him lmao. Just don't get on his bad side by not paying attention and disrupting his class and choose the option as a class to have his slides posted on canva instead of unli cuts and you'll be finemore
