Detailed GenChem foundation, tough LTs

Hi! I had Doc Rojas for GenChem 1, Biochem 1 Lab, Biochem 2, and as a thesis mentor. For GenChem 1, she taught everything in a very detailed manner. I could say that my GenChem foundation was really good because of her. I don't know how different things are in her class right now, but before we used to have google form check up quizzes on the days you don't have a schedule, and a short quiz before you kove to the next topic. They were fairly easy naman and feel ko they really helped me gauge how much I know about the lesson. Her LTs are a different case though cause they can be very difficult especially the final exam. One good thing about her is that she won't quiz you about something she didn't teach. Expect to learn some trivia on some Science places hahaha she likes showing pictures of them from when she visited them too. She also likes showing videos of some topics in class (Crash Course). Overall, I had fun in her class (thus why I also got her as my Chem thesis mentor). She is really passionate about the things she teaches. P.S. I love her fashion sense she has clothes with prints of formulas and molecular structures.more

1. Workload-heavy. You will have assigned readings (aka Perusall) where you have to annotate stuff and comment to essentially engage with the class. There will also be a lot of supplemental videos to guide you and super daming worksheets. On the brighter side, she returns said worksheets early and allows you/your pair to revise them to get a perfect grade. 10-15% lang naman ito usually kaya nakakapagod lahat ng worksheets and readings knowing na ang baba ng percentage but good practice siya. (Our class kind of missed her nung second semester kasi mas naging fast-paced na ang lessons with another prof and less worksheets). 2. Self-study. She kind of expects you to know the lesson beforehand given the assigned Perusalls so during the lessons itself, she will focus on the important concepts nalang. 3. Generally, A-able if your GenChem background is good and masipag ka sa Perusall/worksheets/etc.more

For nina rojas shes an easy B/B+ pero umay ka sa perusalls and mej nakakainis mga quizzes niya tho i got all Ds from my quizzes but she still gave me a B+ (she removes ur lowest score sa quiz in the final grade). Lectures are boring even if she’s passionate, and again the perusalls will haunt you the entire sem as in hinde mauubos to do list mo sa canvas bcs of her tho they are doable naman just a hassle talaga esp when u have to do 7-8 perusalls every week + notifs even on sundays.more

Take notes about everything she says in class (and everything thats in the perusalls) to get high in her quizzes! She’s super passionate about the subject but her workload is insane…💔 She ALWAYS holds class onsite even if she makes you do so much asynch work. Load rev if u can!!! I really wish i did 🙃more
