hello! took sir's penjak silat class last year. he's really chill with teaching movements and stances and overall a really kind guy. he's very understanding if someone isn't physically able to execute the moves well, as long as he can see their effort in practicing. his class is definitely A-able with enough practice and overall the class is not very physically demanding and doesn't have sparring, aside from practicing the moves with your partner sometimes. would recommend to enlist in the class with a friend so that you already have a partner for the semmore

Very beginner-friendly! He's very chill and super nice in assisting. Had him during 2nd sem of 2023-2024 for PHYED and can confirm that we had all the assessments the others here have previously mentioned. A-able as long as you take class seriously and work on your forms, and don't forget to have fun feeling like an earthbender lolmore

Pretty chill, tbh. The coach is the one who brought the sport in the country so you can expect he really knows his material. You will be memorizing routines but you can do this by group/pair but graded individually. You can ask him to demonstrate the routine and take a video of it so you can study it.more

Really great, really chill. Gasaido was not my first choice, but I actually enjoyed it. The routines are all fairly easy to memorize, but in the end he is particular about your form and stance so take note. He did give a written test, but that was like once? And it was really easy.more

It’s mostly practical, except when he asked us to do research on the martial art. He’ll teach the whole routine first, practice for several meetings, then give a practical exam. After that he’ll teach a different one, and repeat the process. Eventually the routines will mesh, but as long as your foundation on the basics is strong you’ll be fine~more

helloooo she was an easy A. I loved her class actually hahaha I think one the key things to getting an A was having good groupmates (since assignments were mostly group based) and consulting with her. she graded relatively high for my block.more

Hi! Took Sir Dado second sem, s.y. 2022-2023, and kinda okay naman especially if you’re new to martial arts! He teaches more on the fundamentals. I don’t remember the lessons and assessments na but it was like a group report, then quiz after based on the reporting of the group, then like practicals that tests your stance and movement. We also had a final practical exam but it was just a combination of what you’ve learned so far! No sparring din (afaik) which is okay for beginners. Honestly, it feels like you’re earthbending but more beginner friendly. Overall, take him especially if taichi slots are none na. Got an A naman but with effort of course!more

Hiii! Took doc mel last sem lang (even beadled for her) and i would say A with effort! Based from my experience she was a good prof 🥹. She was considerate whenever we would ask to have classes online (she would just tell me to let the class vote, and if more than half says yes, we’ll shift to online) No quizzes, mostly dbs or papers but theyre doable nmn (she gives asynch sessions for you to do them). Then you have a few grpworks: 2 vides (iirc), reading seminar + interlocutionmore
