Peak Atenean: engaging lectures, fair grades, light busywork

I LOVE MS DAWN She’s the peak Atenean experience. Her teaching style is very engaging—discussions are chill but super insightful. She explains concepts so clearly without needing to overcomplicate, and you'll really absorb a lot from her lectures. When it comes to tests, she usually gives 4/8/10/15-item quizzes (aside from the long tests + departmental exam)—either true or false, identification, multiple choice, or mixed. The questions are so well-thought out and mind-stirring that even with just a few items, mapapaisip ka talaga haha The workload isn’t that heavy, and it actually feels manageable because she really guides everyone well. Everything you do has a clear purpose: to apply and deepen your understanding, kaya it never feels like busy work. She also grades very fairly. She really reads and assesses everything you submit. She gives detailed feedback on your outputs, so you know exactly what you did well and what to improve. She even gives helpful advice on how to be better next time. Some people might find her grading a bit strict, but with effort, she's definitely B+/A-able.more

Knowledgeable, listen in lecture, skip the long readings

hi! thought i’d share my experience even though i took ma’am dawn this intersession for envi 172i teaching / lecture - very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject! - slides are mostly pictures so you really need to listen - no using of phones cause it distracts her (laptops and tablets are allowed). actually very helpful for you to really listen lol - readings are long but listening during the lectures will save you from reading those requirements - 3 long tests (mod 1-2, mod 3-4, synthesis). it was essay type for us but may differ depending on subject - 1 group presentation - 2 group seat works (she’ll tell the readings included) - grades fairly (as long as you listen to her lectures, you’ll get a high score!) tip - avoid cutting her class (or at least don’t cut as a group hahaha) overall - a ( w/ effort) to b+ (w/ little effort - at least on my part) - she is very kind and approachable - i swear just listen to her lectures and you’ll be GOOD!more

Nicest STS 10, chill class, focus on readings

she’s the nicest! took her for sts 10 two years ago (sy 23-24, 2nd sem) for workload, we had short assessments (20%) and four long exams (80%). the short assessments were homeworks/papers, quizzes, peer evaluation, and final reflection paper. the long exams were on paper which include objective-type questions and essays. altho, the long exam 3 was a group paper and submitted online. classes were chill! she doesn’t really call on people to recite and more on voluntary, but she seems appreciative of those who share their thoughts. also, she’s strict about having our phones on mute or just using our phones in general during class. she’s cool! take her class and focus on the readings because most of her questions came from that.more

Easy B; A takes serious effort, weekly quizzes

She was my prof for STS and for me she’s easy B, B+ with effort, and A with super super effort HAHA we only had one meeting every week (wed 8am-11am) and there’s usually a quiz also every week before or after the discussion. it depends kay miss. medyo info overload lang sometimes kaya nag-struggle yung class somehow kasi sobrang daming info then the quizzes are usually 5 or 10 items lang. yung 2-3 mistakes malaki na agad yung hatak sa grade. overall, i still enjoyed her class !! also she checks attendance right on time so be early na lang just to be sure!more
