Take her especially for microbiology courses (her specialization): students report digestible teaching, approachable consultations, and A-ability with disciplined effort. Still workable for Genetics, but expect denser analysis/computation and no curve. Go in eyes-open about picky essay grading and intersession pace. Prefer regular semester if aiming for A with less crunch.

She has a pretty conventional method of teaching. Right off the bat, she told us she doesn’t like students using gadgets during her class (we were hybrid) and that she’s more of a paper-and-pen kind of prof (which to me was kinda hassle cuz im an ipad kid JAJAJWJW) pero if ure into handwriting then you’ll like her! She’s not super by-the-book naman pero she’s blunt and gets into the material, no nilly willy. I kinda like how she gets straight to the point, and I can easily digest the information she says (albeit loaded/comprehensive) so I can definitely say her teaching style is very much competent and translates to students. Medj nakakaantok and boring at times tho, maybe because her voice is so monotonous.
Her reqs are saks lang naman, we had three long tests, three quizzes, and a special project (altho intersession siya, idk if its diff w a regular sem). Her quizzes are easy and her long tests are fine naman but,,, she’s very particular with essays. If you want full marks, she really needs to find the answer she’s looking for, otherwise she’ll deduct points. Di siya nadadaan sa bola. Other than that, you really have to pay attentively sa kanya and you’ll be goods (her last exam tho gave us a whiplash huhu it caught us off guard).
Overall: Would take her again, definitely A-able with effort.more

- she teaches very well and is easy to understand, and is very passionate about the subject
- although mahaba yung coverage ng course according to the syllabus, hindi siya nagmamadali and usually takes 2-3 days for one lecture
- gives practice problems/questions after every lecture
- is lenient with moving quizzes/LTs pero as much as possible only do it once
- her quizzes and LTs are okay naman, pwede kang mahirapan but it's not really draining compared to those of other genetics profs
- her materials are based on Klug et al.'s Essentials of Genetics pero idt kailangan sa mga quiz & LTs kasi ppts are enough already imo
- major task is an infographic by group
- approachable if u have concerns
- she is very considerate! there was a time when an earthquake happened while we were having our final LT and most of us weren’t able to finish as we had to evacuate the building mid-exam, however because of the unforeseen circumstances she took them into consideration and adjusted our scores.

Adding to 's review, you might find yourself getting a lower grade than expected so if you want to aim for that A it does require you to put in maximum effort. For quizzes focus on memorizing concepts and if may application questions practice the easier ones and pagdating the long tests they're basically just harder versions of the quizzes. Idk how to explain pero sa quizzes there are concrete right and wrong answers pero sa long tests you'll have to think about it more kasi there are many possible correct answers. Can't stress enough na super time consuming and lengthy nung mga computation questions niya (for genetics atleast). Also, mej gentle gentle yung boses ni ma'am so at times mej nakakantok yun lecture pero make sure to pay attention kasi she sometimes asks people to recite.more

maam rhea is really, REALLY knowledgeable, and she knows her stuff talaga! the slides are not comprehensive, you have to listen well during lectures bc that's where you get the info talaga.
in terms of quizzes, it's usually 10-20 items, a mix of true or false, identification, matching type (what enzyme to what function), and arrangements. computations din sa mendelian/non-mendelian genetics. her tests are really just an extended version of the quizzes. just study how the quizzes went and for sure you'll get the hang of the LTs. she gives bonuses abt the subject pa rin!!
grading-wise, yes A-able si ma'am but it's with extra effort! just study her lectures talaga by heart. mas by concept si maam rather than application.

Hello! Had Ma’am Rhea for BIO 130.01 Genetics, but Microbio is really her specialization, so you’re in good hands! As per workload, we had quizzes every now and then, and they’re ALL from her lectures and ppts so pls listen well. Also, she’s very considerate! She also loves it when her class is actively reciting so please do so! Her tests are extended versions ng quizzes so please review the quizzes over and over again, and that some questions are the same na lalabas sa tests. Moreover, she’s really really motherly. Just ask for consultations if u really need to, and she also stays behind after the class to accommodate any questions. I believe you’re really in good hands if you take her class! didn’t have her for microbio, but had her for genetics (which is one of the bio subjects I find the hardest 🙂↕️), but she made it so easy and digestible to understand ! she’s organized with her topic outlines for each ppt that she presents. and if you don’t understand anything, she’s super open to questions and will really try to get you to understand the topic ^^ while she is a bit fast-paced in discussing, don’t be shy to tell her to slow down or to repeat anything you might have missed! super approachable and kind with concerns, take her if you can!more

Ma'am Pia's test may also be quite hard, usually more on memorization of things, pero nasa discussions naman niya yung mga lalabas sa tests. Also, dat grade curve If you don't like memorizing too much stuff, I guess go for Ma'am Rhea. From what I remember her tests are relatively okay as long as you remember the general stuff and processes Both are good naman for the subjectmore
