Ayt so Q3 review >Lenient with deadlines >Not that lenient with grammar anymore HAHAHAH he mentioned seeing many grammatical errors during the previous sem so 👀 but as long as you don't commit the common grammatical mistakes it should be fine, he has a lil lesson about it in his module >Read the readings, watch the video lectures, apply the lessons! (he provided the readings) he's really gonna look for the application so if he doesn't see it then you're getting deductions >For discussion boards(counted under participation, each db is over 4 points), he likes it if you overread. Just let your imagination fly and back it up, don't state the obvious! Else, he doesn't mind giving you a low point(as low as 1 point is possible). >You may pull up your participation points by reciting in synchronous sessions. >He gets a bit mad if people don't respond to him during synchronous sessions so please respond, thumbs up or chat would do. >We had 2 quizzes, 1st quiz was about the reading. 2nd quiz was about grammar/spelling 🥵he really dedicated a lil part of the last module for it so that our research paper wouldn't be full of grammatical errors etc. >Essay, just read the rubrics and instructions! Make sure to check your grammar and format too! (I got deducted a few points because I messed up the format xD) >Major requirement: research paper (no need to survey or interview anyone, it's just gonna be your own arguments + credible sources as support) >>Choose your own groupmates (maximum 3 members per group) >>Make sure to review the instructions/rubrics so that you don't miss details you're supposed to include in the paper! >>Before writing, you may consult him first to see if your topic is going on the right path >>Each time a paper is returned for revision, that is minus 1 letter grade. Example, your paper was returned then accepted after 1 revision, then highest grade u can get for that paper is B+. So yeahh!! Make sure to review review for that one hit A! Note that some papers are passed once, that means 1 chance only, no revisions. Overall, A-able with effortmore

updated review for online setup: had him for fili 11 last sem and honestly he exerts so much effort in his modules (complete with video lectures, transcript, supplementary reading materials, primary reading materials) although his lectures are a bit boring personally for me because he is quite monotonous (and i feel like he was reading a script he prepared beforehand) but he tries his best to be engaging by making jokes hehe quizzes: mostly they are objective quizzes we had individual as well as group quizzes. for individual quiz, it usually covers the lessons from our book (which he will require you to buy) and they’re mostly multiple choice questions. for the group quiz, we can choose our own groupmates and it was mostly a skill-based/reading comprehension type of quiz. grading: he grades fair but his standards are quite high. in our block, we had one requirement and the highest score was 92 so yes you really have to exert effort although A-able naman siya despite his high standards. my suggestion is to consult with his as much as possible when it comes to your major requirements because he gives specific feedback to improve your work. i got good grades with him, and as long as you exert effort in reading the materials he assigned and applying the lessons he teaches, you will get the good score you deserve! hopefully this helps :>more

Alloo!! Currently taking him so here’s some survival tips: -He’s not really a terror prof but he’s pretty strict in his grading. Bulk of your grades will come from essays and the final paper so BRUSH UP ON YOUR FILIPINO AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET THE GRAMMAR CORRECT. YOU WILL GET MARKED DOWN IF YOU USE TAGLISH. -For recitations he’s pretty lenient with the language. Taglish is accepted but get the point across quick. -It’s best to really pay attention in the lectures and take notes because a lot of the time it’ll make sense if you’re just there and he explains it. Reviewing’s not really a must honestly. -70% of your grade will be from your pananaliksik. Expect a movie analysis with elements of critical theory VERY Frankfurt School, somewhat anti-West. He LOVES it when you critique globalism and consumerism. -I can’t stress how important it is to PICK YOUR GROUP MEMBERS WISELY. I’m lucky enough to have two other GOATs so really just get a good pick, manage your workload, and SUBMIT ON TIME. Overall probably a B-A-able if you’re a native speaker, C-B-able for non-natives.more

to add, he mostly gave me good grades for the major outputs (A/B+) but there was this homework that brought my grade down to 81% HAHAHAHA advice is stick to what he tells u to do!! he seems to be very particular sometimes with what he wants to see in your paper so just stick to that !! with grammar he isn't super strict naman just make sure you're using the appropriate words + correct syntax HAHAHA he's actually very lenient and considerate with deadlines so don't be afraid to ask!! overall, the lessons were kinda magulo for me as well (mostly the way they were organized) but sir is p nice naman HAHAHAHAmore

OK I REALLY LIKED HIM CONTRARY TO WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY. Tbf medyo unorganized nga siya magturo but if u take notes it’s easy to catch up and see the main idea of his kalat points. If ur not good at filipino he’s very considerate and will still give you high grades as long as u show that ur trying. It also helps to consult and ask him questions after class so he sees ur interested. Recite a lot also, even if u dont know what ur actually saying and he’ll try to make it make sense for u! hehe i rlly liked him fucc d haterzmore

Also, to add he is very moody and it felt like we were in the military by the way he acts and teaches. If you don’t verbally respond to him he will be mad na agad which to me feels like we are robots and being controlled. He also has high expectations even though he doesn’t explain the task well and only gives vague or general comments during the consultation for the final project. He wants it to be done in a certain way but he is confusing and eventually grades so low.more

ok i guess update for him HAHA i found him magulo especially when it came to consultations like after asking ur questions u end up more confused sometimes and it's never rly clear what he wants to see in ur outputs 😀 and he's very hot or cold w grading!!! he gives high scores sometimes but if ure a little wrong u can end up with a 50/100 no joke HAHAHA but his class is surprisingly A-able like... i had a line of 6 grade for the first few weeks but was able to get an A pa rin 😩 and the same goes for most people ik sooo good luck i guess 😌 more

Tbh medyo kalat siya but when you ask, he makes sure that you get it as much as possible! As of fil 11 he's pretty lenient with grammar as the course isn't meant to brush up you're grammar. Sometjmes you can speak english if youre really having trouble during recit. Sometimes he doesn't move on from slides because the topic strays off a bit. Overall, he's alright, funny, and very hands on with his students!more

He looks intimidating at first but he’s actually nice and accommodating. I used to fall asleep during class and he didn’t really mind. What he does mind, though, is grammar and spelling. Dami mababa sa quizzes noon dahil mali ang spelling, walang gitling, or nang ang ginamit instead of ng. Tapos kahit isang missing period sa references napapansin nya (we got a deduction bc of this lol). In terms of grading, I think he curves bc the grade i got was above what i was expecting. even my friends who were expecting a D got a C instead.more

Got an A with lots and lots of effort. He values participation a lot, so recite when you can even if it’s in taglish, because he appreciates the effort and can see when students are trying. For the research paper, consult as much as you can so he can guide you on how to phrase things better in Filipino!more

I would start studying asap. I’m also weak in Filipino and his standards are so high (for me at least) It takes a lot of effort when you’re in his class. I got a D and thought it was only me but found out that a lot of people in the class also got Ds as well. Idk about the experience of others but as someone who is bad at Filipino, his class was so challenging even when I was doing all the readings in advance and spending hours on my paper.more

You have to be really careful with him when reciting and when writing your papers because based on my block’s experience, he was really vague with his instructions and gave us so many comments and deductions when we submitted our papers. When it comes to reciting, make sure you’ve actually read his handouts and know what they contain because if he calls you and you don’t respond, it’ll actually ruin his mood. He also has a no phone/tablet/laptop policy so also make sure that they’re all in your bags so that he doesn’t scold you. Overall, I’m not really sure if anyone in my block got an A because based off our grades in Canvas, he grades really low. Based on those I also asked, most of them also got D’s. Edit: I had him for Fil 12 so your experience with him may be different.more
