Just make sure you utilize the consultation sessions. He’s actually very thorough with feedback which was good for me, since it’s easy to identify your mistakes and fix it way before you submit the final paper. If you genuinely show effort and care about your paper, then he’ll do the same when it comes to guiding you guys. He’s really not as scary as he seems :)!

had sir bautista last sem and he’s not as bad as he seems. found him to be very understanding actually (in terms of class modality, extension of deadlines) and i do agree with the other comments of needing good groupmates as a big chunk of our grade was from the making of our research paper. during class, he would discuss the concepts to learn that we’d be applying for the paper. he shares the lecture materials in advance so we can study it beforehand. sometimes, he would also call people to check our understanding but don’t be scared because he tries to guide you when you don’t know the answer. consult was also very helpful as there are specific things he wants to see for a topic and he’s very open to answering our questions. grading-wise, he was quite fair and even gave As to some of us. overall, i’d say that he’s still a nice guy and you can survive this! good luck!!more

He is a great prof took him for Quant and he mentioned in his class that he saw the reviews and told us that he will change and be more lenient towards everything in terms of grading and teaching B+ with mid effortmore

Hi! I'm taking him this semester for quanti research (POLSC193). I'll leave a review because this would have been super helpful for me 4 months ago. His other students would also have a lot to say about his teaching and classroom management but I'll start with: please consider looking for other professors :)) While he's highly knowledgeable and experienced as a researcher, it's an incredible challenge communicating with him and there are issues with how he respects his students' time. Getting an A (even a B, really) is nearly impossible because a) he believes it's reserved for the most exceptional students and statistically, everyone else naturally falls under the remaining letter grades. Also b) a lot of his students aren't well equipped to meet his performance expectations, even after all his (brief) lectures or (ineffective) consults. His students and beadles have had an unnecessarily hard time working with him. Your experience in QUANT33 could be entirely different, of course, but students' general experience of him this semester hasn't been positive. I'm not sure if it's the same for previous years since he's an adjunct with no reviews on here. Wish you better luck than we had though!more

Here's a review as someone who's taking him this semester in POLSC 193: Quantitative Research in Social Sciences. 1. Poor classroom management. I can count by hand the number of onsite classes we've had since the start of the sem, the rest is held online which creates a lot of difficulties, especially when it comes to consultations since he also comes in late. 2. Gives unclear instructions. Super gulo niya magbigay ng instructions, magagalit pa yan pag humingi ka clarification. 3. Inadequate consultations. Since he's busy with his main job, it's difficult to schedule a time with him to meet kahit online. Not only that, you'll have to get used to messaging him on viber, but that doesn't give the full context of the research/ concern. Sometimes, he just doesn't respond at all. 4. Grades low. He's one surefire way to bomb your QPI because he thinks A, B+, and Bs are only reserved for the most exceptional. His grades range from D to C+, you'll get the occassional F. And he really doesn't make getting at least a C+ possible considering the unclear instructions and difficulty getting ahold of him. I agree with the previous comment that he's a good professional, but that's the extent of it. While this might not be applicable to QUANT 33, I'll add that we've been upfront with him about our concerns, but there has been essentially no change. The most he's done is show up to class and teach for 30 minutes. I hope you have better options. Best of luck to you.more
