im his beadle for this sem and i have so much to say (SORRY MEDYO MAGULO HAHAHA): •in the beginning parang ok nmn siya magturo but later in the sem parang tinamad na siya mag effort💀 • first red flag; he confused us with his other saturday class so as his beadle i was so lost because he wasn’t updating me on anything and we didnt have a messenger gc with him until a month after classes started (because he thought we already had one) • even if we have a gc with him he replies late or nag seseen lang siya when we @ him sa gc and doesnt reply • he goes through the materials rlly quickly, and his presentations are super concise—like only 5-8 slides at most 😭 merchandising lang yung mahaba w/ 40+ slides but even that lacked any real detail • additionally he seems to struggle with technology 😭. i don’t think he fully understands how to use canvas because he only posts modules through announcements and has trouble setting up zoom and gmeet. (this is when the course started getting really messy and unenjoyable because he’s so disorganized 🫥) • after adjusting entries he taught us merchandising kaagad and putol putol niya tinuro (medyo di ko na maaalala because it was such a blur but i really did not learn anything during his lecture of merchandising 💀) • nung malapit na midterms he realized he should have taught us closing and post-closing entries first because hanggang dun lang pala scope ng midterms so he kind of skipped the remaining slides for merchandising and he rushed to teach us closing and post-closing 💀 •basta we had so much issues regarding scheduling and lessons were so disorganized 🤥 • recently we had an online class and he taught us something that wasn't even in the syllabus and not included in the final exam. his reasoning was that it would be useful if we took “higher acct” classes in the future, but it was such a waste of time. we could have used that session as a refresher for merchandising since it’s been weeks since he last taught it. we also could have used the time to cover cash flows, but i don’t think he plans to teach it since the exams arent departmental anymore (i honestly could go on with more kwentos but tinatamad na ak HAHAHAHA) • buti na lang walang departmentals because if so our class would not have survived with his bare minimum teaching TLDR; overall i just really don’t like his teaching style at all because he only provides one example per module and moves on tas lessons are given just a once-over gloss, which isn’t enough for thorough understanding. i don’t even know how he’s been teaching for so long when it seems like he can’t gauge whether his class truly understands the lessons or not (or maybe he just doesn’t care lol) he’s one of the “easier profs” in terms of tests and workload and as a person he’s nice naman but if you genuinely wanna learn acct then he is not the right person 🤣more

Chill and open, but skip if you have zero accounting

As one of his beadles for the semester, I have a LOT to say. Sir Chua comes off very chill. He is always open to questions, answers them without a hint of condescension, and in general has a pleasing personality. That said, if you do not have any background whatsoever in Accounting, I would not recommend his class. If you are pre-enlisted into one of his sections, it would behoove you to do a bit of preparation beforehand. I say this because his lectures can often be difficult to really follow. I did not notice this too much in the beginning, because I took it upon myself to learn some basic accounting concepts before the semester, but man did I feel it once we got past the stuff I already knew. You will need a lot of supplementary material since his PowerPoints feel like reviewers rather than something meant to teach you for the first time. Also, among all of my professors so far, he seems to be the least adept at using technology. It’s kind of understandable since he’s new to using Canvas, but his modules are all located in the announcements tab, though some of them aren’t even there, as he just sends them in the class Messenger GC. He also makes us pass assignments through email for some reason so that he can “see the timestamp”. He also has trouble with Zoom and Google Meet, and most of the time he just asks me to make the room to use for the session. Even so, he still insisted on multiple online sessions throughout the semester, each more disorganized than the last. As for his tests, the difficulty isn’t necessarily awful but the lack of preparation that his teaching is able to provide definitely makes them tougher. The scheduling is also weird, as we recently had a test that specifically covered a topic that we hadn’t discussed in almost two months. In fact, this topic was discussed before the midterm even though it was not included. We all needed a refresher but instead, he spent time the week before discussing a topic that according to him would not even show up in the final exam. I could honestly go on for longer, but I’ll stop here. The bottomline is that his teaching style is messy and not conducive to beginners. I think I speak for everyone in my section when I say that he just isn’t the best accounting professor.more

STEM kid, no accounting, not having a good time

I came from a STEM heavy high school with no accounting background, and I am not having a good time. You will have to supplement his lectures with Youtube videos, personalized exercises from ChatGPT, and tutoring from your more experienced friends (thank you Prof. Xedric). Expect to use Messenger as your LMS and Gmail as your submission box. Sir Chua is very busy and forgets stuff a lot, so an attentive and responsible beadle is very necessary (many thanks to our beadle ). Like what said, he doesn't count cuts. This means that you are free to cut, but this goes both ways since Sir Chua also cuts a lot. For context, my section has him every Wednesday 8-11am. In one session he ended the lecture at 9 to go to a meeting. Last week, he made our session online and conducted it through a messenger call. If ever you end up taking his class, find friends who are suffering just as much as you are -- for support and accountability -- because apes together strong. Shoutout to my ACCT🥷s,, and. Bonus red flag: one time he minimized the powerpoint window and revealed the world's messiest desktopmore

Well it all depends on your respective context and how much effort you put in. Caveat this is my personal experience: he's not that good in providing exams that is applicable to his students' capabilities. However, if you have a strong accounting background, are committed to putting in effort, and are able to handle his unpredictability, he is A-able. It's hard and not to discourage you—my friends and I still trauma bond about him. He's a nice guy but his teaching style leaves a lot to be desired...more

We have so much to unpack here🤡 - Sir is good in explaining his lessons but that does not equate you're good at teaching. - His flow of lessons are bombed. You're studying T accounts and then you drop ur pen, now he's talking about corpo accounting and receivables which should not be part of his lesson. Adhd ig - He doesn't upload anything in canvas only announcement for the modules he posts (always inc) - the good side is he's kind and flexible with his exam, I think he grades fairly. - His exams are relatively easier compared to other classes - after our midterms he dipped for 1 month and then made us go online and discuss 2 modules in one sitting - we even had a class in messenger call☠️☠️ - he's open to questions but lazy to teach - overall, he's kind ☺️🙏more

Hi okay, well, he's nice naman and he doesn't count cuts. For us, our ACCT 115 did NOT have any departmental exams so obviously Sir Chua made his own LTs and Quizzes to give to his respective students. It's hard. We move really fast through the syllabus so you really need to advance study. He's pretty chill and cool, but his exams are comparatively hard and he flies through the materialmore
