Passionate, fun Bio prof; tests get easier once you get it

hi!! sir ivan is one of my favorite profs in ateneo 😭 im one of the students that he taught in his very first class in admu, and ive had him for 3 bio subjs throughout the span of 4 years (zoology, bioethics, and compana) !! he’s definitely one of the most passionate profs that i’ve had the pleasure of meeting and i do not regret choosing him for my classes :)) you can tell that he loves what he’s teaching because he always has a smile on his face, and he gets excited when someone recites to add some fun facts on what he’s talking about !! he’s super fun and easy to talk to, and i love his teaching style! his tests might be a bit challenging at first, but once you get the hang of it it’s definitely rewarding and it’ll feel a bit easier. study his ppts and make sure to listen to the things that he emphasizes during his lectures. dont be afraid to ask questions or clarifications because he’ll definitely answer them without judgment! i’d say he’s A-able with effort if you enjoy the subject he’s teaching and listen diligently in his classes. he gives students the opportunity to make bawi because he gives bonus questions in quizzes/exams!!! look out for the extra fun facts that he includes in his ppts for those :)) he’s also very considerate because he takes into account the feedback from his previous students and so he makes sure to adjust accordingly for this next classes. i 10000% would love to be his student again in any bio subject hehe pls take him and be nice to him 🤍more

Hello op, I got Sir Ivan for BIO 11.01, so I’ll be basing my review on that.WorkloadFor lecture - we have to do a Synthesis paper (10 pages siya pero super doable kasi malaki naman yung format ni sir)- Every module may quiz kami (i’ll talk more about this sa grading part)For lab- we have the usual lab report and we have to do a special project for our finals (present a paper that talks about your health related advocacy). Masasabi ko lang is look for good group mates and you’ll be fine.Teaching style- You’ll learn a lot from him!!! Pero bio being bio sobrang information overload minsan, pero Sir Ivan makes sure naman na nakakahabol kayo. I suggest consulting with him rin if ever may topic na medyo magulo for you. His consultation helps a lot!Grading - A-able with effort!! Listen to his lectures and understand the concepts. His quizzes are situational kaya you really need to understand it. B-able if happy go lucky ka lang hehe.- overall: I WOULD DEFINITELY ENLIST IN HIS CLASS AGAIN. Super sweet ni Sir, and to this day nakakausap ko pa rin siya tuwing nagkikita kami sa hallway. He’s really considerate and you can tell na he genuinely cares for his students.Hope this helps!more

Not parasitology, but had him for helminthology, so very similar He explains really well and as long as you pay attention in class and make sure to familiarize yourself with the different species you’re required to know, you should be fine. Iirc hindi siya mahilig magpa essay, but I could be wrong on thatmore

hi! had him for BIO 11 and i would say that its best to always go over his slides as soon as he posts them sa canvas! they’re very comprehensive and about 99% of what is on there will actually appear in the exam. not sure how he does his finals in BIO 124, but the best thing i can recommend is to review the long tests you’ll have with him before the final exam itself. for BIO 11, about 90% of the questions from the 2 long exams we had with him appeared in the final exam. don’t worry if the exams do not go as well as you hope for he is super generous with bonus points! i may not have (unfortunately) passed any of the exams he gave, but showing up to every quiz and the final quiz giving bonus points to our cumulative exam score definitely boosts the grade!more
