hey OP!! resending my review from another post was sir dayao's class beadle last school year for math 30.23, and overall i'd say he's a pretty solid prof :)) Teaching Style - his flow is pretty straightforward as he discusses the topics exactly according to the syllabus. in terms of teaching onsite naman, he tries to teach in a way that's organized and simple, though there were times na medyo magulo ung pagturo niya ng ibang lessons esp the ones that involved graphing. objectively speaking, his pace varies from fast to slow to sakto lang depending on the specific lesson/topic. when sir teaches din, he doesn't really deviate tlga from the topics and often introduces better methods of approaching certain problems Assessments - all his quizzes were online asynch! he assigned a total of 9 2-item quizzes to us before, and problem solving lahat ng questions. the time allotted varied din per quiz pero it's usually 30 mins to 1 hour - we had 2 departmental exams (midterm and final) which was the same for all sections Grading - sir is quite particular when it comes to grading kasi he checks both the major and minor details per line of your solutions. usually a perfect solution is worth 10/10 and magbabawas siya ng points if may kulang na steps, incorrect terms, etc. he doesn't give extra points tho for extra steps and details that aren't part of the expected components ng solutions mo :(( - sir is fair when grading quizzes and exams nmn! overall, i'd say he's definitely A/B+-able with effort and close attention to details!! - i'm not exactly sure if nagcu-curve siya but that would depend siguro on your class's overall performance :)) Others - as his former beadle, i can say that sir is responsive at certain times (i forgot exactly when HAHAHAHHA believe nasa syllabus consultation hours yun) but i found it a bit challenging to relay announcements and raise concerns sa kanya at first because i didn't know viber was his preferred mode of communication (reached out at first using email kasi) - sir doesn't like when maingay ung class after the second bell rings, but doesn't really mind if you pay attention in class or not (but please Do pay attention sa lectures niya!! i guarantee u won't regret it in the long run HAHAHAHHA) - sir doesn't take note of ur cuts/absences afaik but there was one time where more than half of our class cut so he gave a surprise quiz TT so please keep that in mind din hehe - towards the end of the sem, biglang nag aasynch si sir for 6 sessions in a row (i believe because of the intense heat) but in relation to that, sir's class modalities are either fully onsite or online asynch (no class kahit online). we never had online synch classes with him actually. also, pag nagbibigay siya ng quiz on a certain day, there's (usually) no onsite classes on that daymore

Had both sir Dayao (Math 30.14) and Hao as well! Sir Dayao makes the math concepts very digestible and straight to the point, and doesn’t shame his students who have difficulty understanding the concepts behind the process. He stated in class na mas mahalaga na alam mo kung paano magsolve over the theoreticals since this can be learned over time. His assessments are relatively easier compared to other professors. Do your best in the quizzes and problem sets, and consult! Sir Lester was my grade 7 Chinese mathematics teacher when I was in my previous school and similar to sir Dayao, he is very kind (he helped me translate Chinese terms I couldn’t read and understand during exams), simplifies the lessons, and is open to consultations! Both professors are very good options so you’ll be in good hands!! 🫶🫶more

Hi! I’ve had both professors. Sir Lu Ong for Math 10 and Sir Dayao for Math 30.14 right now. Both are great in my opinion, but if you’re more of a Type A person, go for Sir Lu Ong! Sir is very kind, gives LOTS of partial points, and provided us with lots of exercises in class that aligned with the tests he gave us. He is easy to talk to and very accommodating. Only downside is that lectures can be dragging. For Sir Dayao, he is really straight to the point and gets into the basics of how to do each problem. His quizzes are halos pamigay na since it’s always the easiest question. He also give a lot of partials. Only downside is that you need extra preparations for finals and midterms since his quizzes r so easy.more

yes I did! but I had to study using practice sets online instead of the ones he gave in canvas 😭 I expected a D cuz of my midterm results, but ended up getting a C 🫡 so as long as u passed the long tests (although i heard the math dep made them stop doing that? which is insanely unfair that u only have midterms and finals now) and do better in the finals, you should be able to pass. Also, I’m taking Math 30.14 right now and I have to admit Dayao is actually the lesser evil 😭more

for me, personally, i like Dayao becs his test (Math 21) were very easy. his problems were almost exactly the same ones he’d discuss in class. however, for his attitude, he is a bit strict (he doesnt allow using phones). i’ve also never seen him laugh 😫 he’s always poker face.more

Got him for a regular sem so not sure how he is for intersession but he’s a good prof and would definitely recommend him! As someone who doesn’t like calculus and almost failed 30.13 before, he’s someone I’d recommend because he explains everything simply and has easy LTs. One con though is that his LTs won’t prepare you enough for the departmental exams because his LTs are easier. For me, he’s an easy B-C+ and you could get an A-B+ with effort! Since you’ll be taking him everyday for intersession, I believe it would be easier since you’ll retain information bettermore

whatever he teaches usually shows up in the test, almost word for word sometimes pa nga HAHAHAHA my advice is to ask him to give as much samples as possible and take note of them all. He usually has less word problems compared to other profs but expect 1-2 per test that are moderately difficult (but discussed naman in class). Don't sweat over his tests too much! He straightforward with its contents.more

Not sure about MATH 21, but I had Sir Dayao for 30.14. As someone who generally prefers to avoid math as a whole, I actually found his tests very easy. What he teaches is what will appear on his tests. However, he may make mistakes in checking. If he marks you wrong for something that is correct, he will re-check your paper; if you get something right for something you did wrong, he actually won’t give you minus (last I checked..?) He’s pretty straightforward and chill. No gadgets though, unless he explicitly allows for it. I enjoyed calculus in his class.more

as someone who has taken both profs, they are both good!! dayao is an easy A, you wont learn anything at all though… lu ong is a good prof, very nice and considerate (even lenient), but you’d still have to study & learn something to get an A (to some extent), because he still does check if you understand what he’s teaching. overall still a good prof though! would probably put sir in my top 3 profs ever hope this helps!more

Onset to fail MATH 30 but somehow I didn't
Not sure if he does, but i was onset to fail math 30 under him and I didn't for some reason. Maybe he does, can't say for sure
