Hi Anon! I had Vistro-Yu for 30.14 a year ago cuz i didn’t know how to loadrev, and fortunate enough I barely passed her class. If you really can’t make it an option to loadrev, here are things you should know about her from my experience:
1. Her teaching style is very by-the-book. TAKE NOTES RELIGIOUSLY. She expects you to use the solutions and methods that she teaches (so throw away all other methods that she didn’t teach)! She does give partial points (I believe it's every correct line in your solution, but I could be mistaken). I already took basic calculus in senior high, but this class forced me to forget all that and relearn it like it's my first time! She also calls you out if you happen to forget the fundamentals of algebra, graphing, geometry, etc., so make sure to brush up on your high school math.
2. Her teaching style is indeed fast. I think we breezed 2-3 topics every session, so you will really need to put effort in at least familiarizing yourself with the solution process.
3. Expect around 3-4 LTs, quick quizzes (she gave these in Canvas), a midterm, and a final assessment.
4. She does not give any bonus or additional work to pull up your grade. Do know though that her grading system is based on the your actual raw score divided by the total raw score (all requirements combined, but im not sure now), so MAKE EVERY POINT COUNT. She is extremely objective with grading, so she notices every minor or major mistake and counts it against your solution. Don’t be surprised if more than half the class fails, because it happens often in her class!
5. Her LTs are considerably more difficult than the midterms and finals in the sense that the questions would be longer equations or more complicated equations (like combinations of grouped equations divided by another grouped equation, ln equations, and absolute values, which usually don't show up in her practice equations), so do walk the extra mile and explore those types of equations!
6.[UNSOLICTED ADVICE] Personally, something that really helped me is just not caring to study everything for hours, but instead studied her thought process, her expectations, and recurring patterns that appear in her questions. That way I was a little less anxious about her assessments, and focused on just meeting her standard, really.
I really hope you find a way to loadrev out of her class, but if you don’t, I believe you can still pass her class with strategic studying!more

my advice is to make friends who can help you in math. i agree that honestly just studying isnt enough, i personally studied around 7 hours daily as someone bad at math. i think having tutoring can really help also. maam is also very forgiving(?) for loadrev, around half of my class loadrev’d after the midterms. the process was just that you would email her about your situation and she would let you loadrev.
if you really cant loadrev out, it is possible to pass, just very very difficult. i especially wouldnt recommend it if youre also taking other difficult courses at the same time as i found it difficult to balance my studying timemore

special process for adding/withdrawing/swapping subjects or sections after official enlistment. need to provide rationale for each revision. but since you're a freshie i believe you arent allowed to loadrevmore

on a more serious note, doc cathy is very understanding and approachable naman if ever u have any concerns or questions. its just that when it comes to how she checks your work, she can get very strict esp w/ ur solutions since she's a very by the book prof so your solutions should be similar to how she taught the lesson/how its solved in the book.
if you're rly grade conscious, try to loadrev as much as possible but if u can't then its not the end of the world nmn. i suggest consulting as much as u can if ever anything during the lec was unclear and answering her practice LT's. try to also find practice sets from the book/online.
her tests were kinda mixed bc some were very easy but in others she would give test items u've never encountered before in class.
i would say C+/B w max effort. just manage your time well bc this is a very demanding classmore
