TL;DR: Maeffort na A-able, definitely worth it!
Course materials: I think Sir Mesh makes comprehensive lecture slides, hindi ko na kailangan ng book coz everything you need to read ay nasa slides na. The course canvas ay very organized din, updated, and has supplementary videos/recordings that you can review.
Teaching style: Sir is very straight forward sa pagtuturo. He knows a lot sa field niya and marami rin siyang fun facts na nasa lugar naman xD Sometimes lang ang downside ng knowing a lot ay 1) he talks so fast HAHAA and then 2) I tend to get info overload during class. I also remember na masipag si sir magbigay ng feedback, and fast replier din siya sa emails.
Assessments: We had 15 short quizzes worth 5 points, then 5 LT worth 50 points. Sobrang nakakalito. periodt. usually true or false, and then 5 essay questions. You have to know the concepts by heart para kahit pagbalibaligtarin ni Sir makakasagot ka pa rin. When answering essays, keep it short and simple. It helps na mag take ng notes sa mga chika ni sir during class, most importantly pray HAHAHAA He gives bonus quiz thoe:>
Attitude sa Class: I agree with sobrang caring ni sir, and he recognizes the efforts ng students sa class niya. If you deserve the praise, hindi siya magdalawang isip to let you know. Honestly yung kindness ni sir will challenge you to study harder kahit na super hirap na ng concepts mismo xD He's also friendly and approachable outside ng class. At the same time, he knows when things get overboard. Wag niyo na lang siya i-take for granted kung ayaw niyo matikman ang batas ng isang api chz.
Idk if may nalimutan pa ako but overall I think Sir Mesh is a great prof! You will learn a lot and ma-challenge ka rin to do your best. Di rin siya magkukulang sa aruga for students. A-able pero effortan mo lang nang bongga. Will take him again if may chance!more

hi!! i took him last sem, also sts 10, onsite. here are my thoughts!
super duper enjoyed my sts class fr!!! always looked forward to his lectures. very in depth, very elaborate, but straight to the point and engaging. he likes it also when the student engage in class and ask questions so do ask questions!!
he also gives the ppt slides, readings, and audio lectures as reference. so it was actually easy to have access to resources to study for the class. i would suggest to take notes of what he says during class itself also to prepare for the assessments.
we had fourteen short quizzes throughout the sem each around five points each lang. we had four long exams. no final exam. so if you want a high grade you need to do well on both the quizzes and long exams. long exams may have trick questions (just leaving that there)
the coverage for the quizzes are always discussed at least the meeting before and not the same meeting you'll have the quiz to give you time to prepare. and long exams are module based. so it's pretty self explanatory what the coverage is.
overall, definitely would recommend!! one of my fave classes last sem!

I was his beadle last sem onsite. My classmates maybe have different experiences, but here's mine.
Pros
- no papers, no orals, no projects
- short quizzes (5pts) and 4 LTs are the only reqs
- GREAT LECTURER, fr
- Sir's lectures and ppts are rlly good and relevant. I've never paid more attention to a Science class tbh.
- I learned so many new science practices and lessons that were actually interesting and relevant in his lectures
- sir is approachable, and lenient (just ask early), and responds fast via canvas
- sir is very much on time, and his class finished early so I got to focus on other subjects during finals
Cons
- only got a B in his class lmao, because there's rlly only the quizzes and LTs to pull my grades
- you need to memorize for the quizzes tlga to get high scores
- there's not a lot to pull up your grade if you get low on the tests
- there's a short quiz almost every meeting
Verdict
- would recommend him bc the lectures are worth it tlga, and he knows what he teaches, get him if you're not super grade conscious
- don't expect an A hehe
- expect a B+ ONLY if you score high on the quizzes
- don't worry, sir rarely fails students namanmore

hi! agree with 's sentiments. For the quizzes, always listen to his lectures and study the ppt he gives. For LTs, aside from religiously reading the modules, understand the concept and how it works! He loves tricky questions so always be careful.

if you like completely objective assessments (written) and not having to worry about writing papers/preparing for orals, take him. Incredibly great lecturer, one of the best lecturers I've had actually. If you think it's more chill to answer quizzes and LTs than creating outputs, he's a no-brainer pick.
A-able with effort (you'd have to memorize quite a bit), easy B/B+ if you just attend his classes and listen. Highly recommend him!more

BEST ONLINE PROF I’VE HAD NGL I heard STS was a boring subject pero he made it really fun!! The readings were very interesting.
Also one thing i looked forward to was his genuine feedback every time he gave back any assessment. He’s very thorough with it!

He's cool naman pero very strict sa instructions and citations. He legit looks for specific points in your essay and rarely gives you the full points. He has a lot of GROUP WORKS which can be a hassle if you dont have good groupmates. His quizzes are usually true or false and may secret big brain pattern ang true or false na yan ahahahha. He also said na his requirements get easier and easier as the quarter goes by but personally, that aint the case (had a very heavy subject during that quarter). Can't say that he is an ez A, but he is an ez B+. Doable naman ang A but with effort:))

Sir Mesh the best ever!! Took him for STS 10 and I ended up absolutely loving the class and always looking forward to his class. Definitely hard A but super 100% worth taking him.
He's by far one of the most organized, engaging, and approachable prof I've ever had. His modules are organized, straight to the point and always a great supplement to his lectures. His lectures are always worth attending and you really are engaged to participate in his class and think critically.
I would recommend reading before class so that you can be prepared to participate and recite in class. I remember having a lot of quizzes throughout the sem and quite challenging LTs.
Can't vouch how heavy the workload would be for bio. But definitely take him! life changing 💯more

took cellmol this sem and the subject itself is not easy! it’s jam-packed with information, you wouldn’t even think of cutting a class (unless may sakit ofc). Its definitely not an easy A (not even easy B lol) subject, pero i think achievable naman with a lot of effort.
In terms of requirements, we had 2 quizzes + an exam per module. Questions are T/F and short-answer question/s where he will test how deeply you understood the topic. These are not the type of tests where u can read the ppt once then ace it (no way). Also, I would recommend studying in advance so you don’t get lost during sir’s lectures. I promise you, if you have a little bit of prior knowledge about the topic before you enter the classroom, you will understand the lectures a lot better.
Sir mesh is how the comments here describe him. A really efficient prof and super approachable! Don’t be shy to ask questions bec. he really wants you to understand it. He will give you a drive of all the materials you need for the class + he checks quizzes and exams relatively fast. If you make the most out of the class, i’d say sulit ang tuition mo with this subj and with him!more

This class isn't meant to be easy, and even more if you don't have genetics background which is supposedly a prerequisite to celmol (for context: my IPS made me take both at the same time lmao)

Sir mesh the 🐐 is one of the most amazing, organised, and efficient bio profs the department has! Definitely life-changing experience because the course content makes you grateful to even score anything in the quizzes (HAHSHAHA)

Hi! While I didnt take Sir Mesh under Bio140, I took for STS10 and by far he's the most professional, organized, and engaging prof. I can't really talk about workload and exams given the difference in subject, but teaching style wise he clearly knows what he's talking about and is 100% not bored during his lectures. Very efficient professor hehe.more
