If anyone can transform a lecture on a reading about gay furry porn into the most beautiful and tearful course conclusion I have ever witnessed it is her. Every lesson of hers was incredibly awe inspiring. There was not a single reading wherein I knew what to expect out of her lecture. Her analysis on her Fili 12 readings were so far from the generic ones I'd find online and yet somehow they'd make more sense. Her lectures may seem scattered at first and it does take some time getting used to her but slowly they'll all connect into this bigger picture you'll never see coming. For assessments you don't really need to read the readings ahead of time. She discusses them thoroughly during class and if you listen well and take notes from her lectures you'll have an easy time writing for her two essays. She allows you to have a dictionary so there's no issue if filipino isn't your strong suit. As for her quizzes she only had two and one was on an English reading. She announced both quizzes in advance and the questions were just to make sure you read the text so you wouldn't be a burden to your groupmates during group discussions. The questions were simple stuff like what was the name of this character. Her group discussions are kind of stressful thought from experience the challenge is that it's hand written and thus only one person can write so just give the paper to whoever's best in filipino and feed them with ideas. What she looks for in them are the ideas and content rather than the organization and structure anyways. Lastly for her final project instead of the departmental one she made our lives easier and just had us do a podcast. She graded highly assuming you could properly integrate the lessons from her discussions (though she does prefer no scripts and full filipino). Overall for Fili 12 she's A-able. It's also her strong suit (she's said herself she finds Fili 11 boring) so just keep an open mind and prepare to be amazed.more

she is the absolute goat fr. i've never been great at fili either but i got an A in her subject. the important thing is listen to the discussion!! the most important thing for her is that you listen and give insights on the concepts. as long as you can prove that you understand what was discussed in class, you will get good marks. her readings are a bit difficult at first but over time they get sooo much easier to read— especially since there are english ones. i skipped a few from the first 2 modules, but def read those from the last 2 modules, i had a lot of fun reading them and by then you understand na what kind of insights she's expecting to hear in class. she had pop quizzes about details in the readings (names of places, characters, that kind of thing) but her tests are essay questions. she'll basically give you a passage/poem and then you have to answer a question about them. don't be scared tho, as long as you know the main concepts discussed you will be fine. a big thing that helped for me is that she lets you bring a dictionary for the test. my advice is to bring english to filipino. she might be a bit intimidating at first but she is incredibly fun and nice and she is so so dedicated to teaching and helping us dismantle our biases. ultimately she wants you to learn and have fun. one of my fav profs of all timemore

the best prof ever! i've never been the best at fili, but ms phil made the discussions so enjoyable, and gave so much more depth and perspectives on the readings! she's also very progressive, and talked about contemporary issues openly with us. read the readings (yes there are pop quizzes, but they're usually 2 questions worth 5 points each), participate and recite during discussions even if you aren't completely sure or confident with your filipino (she'll guide you to the right answers), and be as open and respectful as she is, and you'll have the greatest time! she makes you think more, sharper, and wider. fili 12 was my best and favorite subject, taking an 8 am for her was so worth it, and i hope others find her class as inspiring!more

hi! the pop quizzes were mainly tama or mali, 2 items worth 5 points each. her long tests naman were essays, usually 1-2 questions, worth 20 points overall. the quizzes (both pop and long) are a huge deciding factor of you grades because she doesn't give other assessments aside from round table discussions (to be done in class) and the final podcast. but really, you just have to read the assigned readings and listen well in class, and you'll be alright!more

Best teacher I had last sem. Really passionate about teaching. Super nice and considerate. He always wants to make sure that all his students get the lesson and he’ll even talk to them one by one if it’s needed. Really cares about each of his students. All his quizzes and requirements are easy. The “hardest” part about his class was the research paper towards the end of the class but he’ll be there to guide you the whole way. Super curver with grades. Doesn’t really look into the output produced by a student, he looks more into the effort that you put into what you’re doing and that’s how he grades you. Easy A.more

Super recommended!! Synch classes (usually once every other week unless may pasabi) were never boring with Sir! Super light workload lang din, 1 db per module just make sure tho that u really read and understand the given reading for the db kasi the questions would really test how much of it you understood. Never magpass nang late kasi mas mahigpit na sya by then. We had a research paper na requirement and he really wants to bring the best out of our papers. He's very clear naman sa mga instructions and with what he wants, especially sa mga feedbacks. A-able with effort.more

nice prof!! he gives quizzes for every reading (his readings are nice and interesting, well at least for me lol), usually subjective. he grades and teaches well! he will give you insights about the atrocities and injustices happening in our society, and he relates his lessons to current events and issues. just listen to him and participate and behave in class (he's not really fond of unnecessary noises) and you're all good :)more

He gives high grades, but according to him "di naman sa grades yung habol ko eh, ang gusto ko yung may natututunan kayo sa akin". He is very passionate in teaching to the point na kahit wala sya sa class he makes sure na di nya pababayaan yung students niya. Light to moderate workload. Even if you're not that good in speaking and writing in Filipino, he will guide you and really patiently teach you how to write and speak. You just have to listen attentively. P.s. dapat g na g din kayo sa social issues hehemore

mizz phil is the best pagdating sa discussions since gaganahan ka talaga pumasok. lagi ring may koneksyon ung lesson sa contemporary issues (NEOLIBERALISMO !!!). for the quizzes, always read the material, understand, and generous naman si phil sa pagmamarka. for group projects like round table discussions or a creative output, make sure that not only you know what you are talking about, but also the ENTIRE group since napapansin ni phil kung hindi talaga ganon ka-established yung konsepto o punto. if you have the chance to choose, pumili ng kagrupo na may galang sa oras ng bawat isa at MAY AMBAG NA KALIDAD ng gawa.more

best prof ive ever had in admu! never missed a class even if she doesnt count attendance. topics are really interesting and the way she teaches just makes u wanna listen. always read the readings before class because there are a lot of pop quizzes and heavy weight siya sa final grade. dont ai them because she goes into detail but they’re really short and usually easily digestible naman. learn the theories because it’s important that u apply them properly to the questions. she grades fairly and would say she’s a-able. got a 98 average in that class. love love loveeee ms phil. still carry her lessons to this day.more
