Hi!! Currently taking Sir Boris for BIO 110.01 (Gen. Botany Lec) and BIO 110.02 (Gen. Botany Lab). We're his first Gen. Botany class in admu and only class for this semester. 🐥 The requirements are mainly group laboratory activities—drawings of specimens—with complementary lab reports that can be draining and heavy for a day's work. We also have a project of either an art exhibit or atenean flora. We'll have our finals with him in Dec so I can't say anything yet. 🐥 He gives decent grades on your drawings as long as you follow his instructions clearly, his voice isn't loud during prelab discussions so as much as possible try sitting in the front chairs. PROS: 🐥You can always ask him questions during lab and he'll answer anything, be it identifying the parts or understanding what you're looking at. 🐥 He leaves comments in your sketchpad on what to improve with your drawings! There may be criticisms or compliments. CONS: 🐥 He pursues an activity even if there's a typhoon!! He'll send out a zoom meeting or asynch activity regardless if there's an announced suspension. 🐥 Pay close attention to him speak as English isn't his first language (but he's pretty articulate tbh!!) TIPS: 🐥Always read the laboratory notes that he posts in advance so you'll have a better idea on what you're going to do in the lab since the sketch's instructions are written there as well. Overall 🐥 He's better in Lab and he's passionate, not sure about this grade estimate but I genuinely think he is B+/A-able sa Botany Lab as long as you're diligent!more

currently taking him rn, he’s a new prof - thoughts are that he teaches well you really just have to pay attention to his lectures especially since he has a bit of difficulty pronouncing some words (English is not his first language). he is also very open to questions, clarifications, and consultations! - taking him for evol bio so I’m not sure how he will be for 155.01 but his lectures are usually PowerPoints but he really adds on a lot more content that isn’t in the slides so take notes and listen well during class - for us, every module has a short quiz and there’s a long exam for every 3 modules. we also have a final group presentation and a final exam. - that’s it so far,,, can’t really give a grade estimate yet as intersession is still not done :>more

A-able if you know the concepts; finals get hard

hi! I’d say he’s very much A-able! I got a B+ lang bc of my finals T T to be fair he also mentions that the difficulty of his exams gets harder as you progress through the sem and for me, the finals was the most difficult exam in his course. you really have to know the concepts and the topics well and familiarize and memorize the terms. but aside from that, he’s a very good prof! I learned a lot from him and still use his lessons rn in other bio courses ^^more
