Didn't have him for SocSci 12 pero had him for SocSci 11. As for teaching style, he would ask class groups to present their insights on a week's certain set of readings before he'd discuss them, so you'd get to compare your thoughts with what he has to discuss about them. When we had SocSci 11 for him, we had study days (asynchronous classes) for activities, which were mostly essays with a pre-set outline of questions that gauge how you/your group can apply the readings in practice. I'm certain this might be the same for SocSci 12. Personality-wise, he's good! He's not terror naman, if anything, he tries to break down the class' nervousness by humouring us. Downside lang to him is his grading ㅠ he grades really low pero somehow it's compensated by giving feedback in your work and he's also transparent with his grading. He gets your final grade from what's on Canvas so you'd see basic statistics of the class scores, and test the scores so you know what score you need to achieve a certain letter grade. A-able naman overall but with *extreme* effort (make sure alam mo exactly what he's looking for in assessments!) pero the most realistic grade you might get from him is a B (from personal experience, I was able to raise my advisory C+ to a B in his class) TL;DR: don't get him/load-rev or WP if your grades are deliksmore

In an ideal world, Gappy would be A-able. But he isn't, he just isn't the prof for me. Yes, he doesn't do quizzes, but he makes us do a lot of papers. He also yaps a lot during discussion IMO, and can really get you weak especially if your class is at 8am, because he has an accent that makes it even hard to understand what he's trying to say. He's semi-weird with grading, and I mean that he really sticks to the rubric, and you really have to milk out every niche detail in the readings, that's how you get an A. I took him for SocSci 11, only a few people have gotten an A in a SINGLE paper, let alone all. My blockmates who took SocSci 12 under him said similar things: No quizzes, just readings and papers..more

Recommend Gappy! Point with beadle above is true. A is possible (was able to get one!) but you'll have to work. Not too hard but you just need to avoid getting complacent. One new thing he had this year is the 'study folder', where you have to do readings in advance then summarize them on a notebook/document to be submitted at the end of the sem. You can cram it at the end naman but it's a hassle since there are many pages to go over. Just make sure to do that regularly and you should be OK.more

B-able but malabo, you have to adapt to his readings

Seriious answer from me.Gappy is a B able prof with a lot of effort. You have to adapt to his style of teaching and thinking especially when it comes to readings and his essays. Kumbaga you have to embrace his understanding of the readings.His teaching style is a bit malabo from what i remember. He would not give straight answers.Good luck OP!Take this with a grain of salt because my batch took him online during the pandemicmore
