I don't normally write Profs to Pick reviews but Atty. Sunga deserves somewhat of an exception because his class was... such an experience lol I took him for POLSC 132, not SocSc 14, but I doubt his teaching style will change anyways. TL;DR, if he's your only option for SocSc 14, then read ahead, but if you've got other options that aren't necessarily terror profs, then save yourself the confusion and just loadrev or run. Especially if you want to learn. Yes, his classes are not worth your hard-earned tuition money, and I don't say that lightly. When we say he's laidback, he is EXTREMELY laidback, and easily wins any IDGAF war out there lol. If you think you couldn't be arsed to care about the class, think again, bec Atty. Sunga cares way less than you ever could. He's extremely disorganized with how he conducts his class and the Canvas modules, so make sure your beadle can take initiative/is organized with their beadle work. God knows my class would have had a much harder time if our beadle wasn't so on top of things. Is he A-able? I'd say yes, but it's not really a guaranteed A, since despite not gafing he paradoxically DOES have some unspoken standards for grading that go unsaid, and the syllabus probably won't help. I honest to God don't know what his criteria is, bec even though the syllabus has a rubric, it's a rubric for ALL the requirements you'll be doing, which is... well, I digress lol On the bright side, it's practically impossible to fail his class. Genuinely, you have to care less than Sunga to fail his class, which is near impossible. I'd say he's B+-able because to get anything less than that you'd practically have to be absent or just refuse to submit your reqs. Tips to get an A is to honestly perfect as many requirements as you can (i.e., online quizzes) bec the way he grades is just... kind of senseless, and I guess be consistent with your attendance. I feel like he takes note of the people who seem interested in the subject. But despite all this you'll most likely be unable to predict the grade you'll get in the end, so just be prepared for that jumpscare. My primary grievance with Sunga is that aside from not learning anything at all (he barely lectures, most of what I learned was from self-study or listening to my classmates report on their assigned case), he's just plain inconsistent and vague with his grading. Nobody in our class got a perfect score for any requirement we did, which can be frustrating if you're aiming for that A. His grading is just nonsensical, and you can't figure out what you did wrong or what part of your output was lacking. It lowkey feels like he grades using a roulette sometimes because of how random the grading is, literally random numbers like 6.5, 7.3, 8.2?? On what basis? We dunno bestie, because he never specified what he wants to see in a DB or a reporting. You're practically tossed into the requirement with just the base instructions, but zero idea of how he wants a report or a DB to look like. He also returns grades late. Don't be late with submitting your DBs though, because I submitted one a few days late once, and he immediately deducted points from me despite being a lot more late with his grading, which is...? Well, it is what it is.more
