Informative intro class with weekly essay missions

Hi, took him for Q3. As an introductory subject, Sir Martius’ class is very informative and reflective. Most of the modules consist of videos and readings, but he explains them naman during the synchronous sessions. He makes the readings digestible and easy to internalize. Just try to write what you have learned from the readings and connect them to your personal experiences. Workload is manageable naman with around one output weekly for the quarterly set-up (he likes to refer to them as missions), most of which are essays. It takes time to write them but doable naman!! Sometimes though, the synchronous sessions aren’t announced (although they’re in the syllabus) and I was really confused with the synch schedule (one time, I went to his class because I thought there was a synch session that day and I was stuck in the waiting room the whole time haha). Don’t worry though, the synchronous sessions are supplementary lang and it’s doable to accomplish the tasks with the asynchronous material. He is also very generous with grading. Definitely A-able!!more

i genuinely love sir martius! his coverage is very friendly to those who aren't super religious OR not roman catholic 🤍 lecture: very organized yes! also gives out his slides ^^ altho his lectures can run a bit long and we didn't cover the syllabus entirely bc of this HAHAHA regardless, i love listening to his lectures bc he makes sure it's not only about theory vibes: super duper considerate 🥹 also masaya asarin HAHAHA esp bc i sat right in front of his desk (cc: Josh C)! very vocal also about how the church should (or shouldn't) be when it comes to real-world issues grading: A-able for sure! didn't have the usual oral finals since we didn't finish the coverage ^^ then his quizzes aren't so bad as long as you remember his lectures and readings—memorization needed to some extent! grades generously also :)) would reco sobra! one of my fav profs so farmore

Agree with! was his beadle and a way to somehow get a hint towards the surprise onsite quizzes was to ask him after class what to prepare or what to expect for the next meeting for the benefit of the class. Sometimes he gives clues like “I did a joke for a reason”, or “study the specific readings since it’ll be helpful” to give a hint on what’s happening the next meeting. His onsite surprise quizzes naman are usually definition of terms and providing an example so listening to his discussions would really aid you to ace the surprise tests:)) Tips: - Ask questions since sir loves curious students - Work well within time pressure since his online quizzes are sometimes really time pressuring - Participate during class since he gives bonuses to those who participate sometimes. would recommend him too! ❤️more

watch out for surprise onsite quizzes! but he made those a bit obvious for us so medyo nahuhulaan namin lagi pag may quiz man apart from quizzes (both onsite and on canvas), we did a faith narrative which was due later than the other theo profs since he also give it a bit later! he also gave activities take home to count as recit:)) then our finals was an exam on canvas all of this was quite manageable tbh! the faith narrative na siguro pinakamabigat ^^ all his quizzes are study-able kasi he gives the readings ahead of time OR finishes a lecture (based on a reading rin) before giving out a quiz i won't say super duper chill, but it doesn't take much effort to at least B+ his class:))more

Update: Sir Martius usually gives only 1 sync a week (our sched was TTh). Sync sessions are engaging and usually he's gonna discuss the readings. We had 3 papers that were based on readings, a movie reflection, and final paper. (There was actually supposed to be a group reporting, but he canceled it.) Sir grades *really* high, canvas' box-and-whisker was showed almost everyone got A range.more

Easy B+ with minimal effort and A if talagang mag-aaral ka. medyo chill naman 😭😭 the cons lang is parang wala akong natutunan sa theo because chill nga HAKDHDHDHDH however, some of his opinions ay hindi talaga pareho sa opinions ng students niya (but understandable cause Theo subj and he needs to maintain his perspectives based sa lessons) so we somehow had lowkey or mini debate with him (and medyo hatred chz). He’ll have graded recitations din but the answers ay nasa pre-uploaded PPT lang lagi HAIDHCHHFHFFHHFHFH so tinitignan nalang namin yon 😭 i think we had 4-5 quizzes/exams lang and that’s it 🥹🥹 but yung final exam ay mahirap and u need to study kasi puro essay (di na kami nag oral exam!)more

Organized readings, A-able, surprise quizzes

He's ok naman. His readings and PPTs are very organized and digestible, even for someone who didn't take religion subjects in HS. Just make sure to read them properly as he gives out surprise quizzes that are detail-oriented and heavily based on the readings. Sometimes he also sends long lecture videos (the longest one we had was 3 hours) from youtube when he declares asynchronous sessions. In terms of grading, I'd say he's A-able with minimal effort, as long as you stick to the guidelines, since he grades generously. Other than that, he's actually considerate and lenient. However, his voice is soft most of the time, which makes listening to his lectures quite hard. P.S. He has some hot takesmore

Watch the vids he sends, listen to his lectures, and read the given readings. alsoo, watch out for pop quizzes be as detailed as possible when answering essay questions. he can sometimes grade loww in essays if you dont directly answer his question or answer it without sufficient detail ! goodluck, anon! 🙂more

A-able !!! JUST TAKE HIM (he might be one of the most considerate theo profs out there) just wishing he was still my prof nung theo 12 para i didnt suffer 🤣 (we didnt even have orals for finals cause he gave us an option before whether to take online exam or orals)!! His questions also for recitations are all in the ppt na pre-uploaded na! EAZY A cons: sometimes, he has a diff perspective with issues that are debatable but i think it’s bcos he is a theo prof but he listens naman!!more
