Not as bad as reviews say, recite a lot, A with med effort
she's not as bad as some reviews make her out to be. give her a chance. just be active in class and recite recite recite! don't be discouraged if your answer isn't the one she's looking for - she comes off as close minded at times since she's very specific with what the "correct" answer is but it's better than nothing. strict with gadgets so don't even ATTEMPT to use yours. put it on silent, even! and never talk to your seatmate during class! she's strict but also at the same time can crack a few jokes here and there (rare). just don't get on her bad side and you'll be fine! very soft-spoken so get a seat near the front row (will serve you well during quizzes). do well on the short quizzes and she's very particular with the answers in her essay-type exams. personally liked her class albeit there were times she came off as confusing. just give her some grace and i'm sure she'll give you some, too. got an A with med. effort!more

Tough, you can't slack off, but you'll learn a lot

I had her for lit classes, so it’s different, but I assume she runs art ap10 the same. She gets such a bad rap, but honestly, I love her classes. She’s tough, and you can’t slack off. You have to do the readings, this is a non-negotiable. She does a lot of recitations, and she cold calls if no one raises their hand, but tbh if you recite enough it’ll get to the point that she won’t cold call you, or you won’t be her first call. Requirements are short quizzes (either reading quizzes or analysis essay quizzes), a short paper, and either a final exam or a final paper. She’s a considerate grader overall. Genuinely, work hard. It’s not an easy class at all, but you’ll learn a lot. She’s so incredibly smart, and she has amazing insights. Her classes aren’t for the faint of heart, but if you put in the effort and are fully present in class, you’ll do well.more

I didn’t have her for ArtAp but I’ve had her for two different classes, and I will say that she’s not as bad as people make it out to be! She’s a more considerate grader than I thought. Perhaps I got lucky because she didn’t find much to be upset about with my block, but when she’s annoyed with a student she really shows it. She’s a very smart professor and knows her stuff, genuinely I find that she teaches well, so you’ll definitely learn something substantial! But, I don’t think she’s a prof for people who are quite soft-hearted. Study well, recite a lot, pray, and be focused because she will comment on it if you are unfocused and distracted.more

Her workload could be heavy depending on your capabilities. Almost every reading has a discussion board (just 5-7 sentences each) and her final output is usually you, picking a text (book, movie, etc.) and connecting it to a concept/reading discussed in class. Her consultations are great as she gives you additional help like ideas or texts to research on. Once, I struggled with finding sources in the University Archives and she helped me find them by going their on her own and giving me a copy of what she found. A-able with effort. Recite, do the readings, the DBs, and offer a fresh text and insight in your final paper and you'll be good to go.more
