Hi!! Taking Biostatistics Lab and Lecture (BIO 31.02 & BIO 31.01) under Ma’am Melchor right now and I’d say you are pretty lucky to have gotten her !! Some pros and cons of taking her class Pros: -Tests are easy to get an A in given you study -She gives very fun class activities (we did activities related to zodiac compatibility, background music and concentration, the OJ Simpson trial, and other stuff you wouldn’t think is connected to Biostats, but ended up being a very cool application) -She clearly cares about the wellbeing and learning of her students -Calculation-based homework is pretty easy -Ma’am responds to emails quick -Consultation periods really help if ever you don’t understand a lesson Cons: -I’d say maam gives kinda low grades with lab reports, but she provides very helpful feedback that’ll help improve your writing talaga Overall: I wish I could get her again for a class if I could 😭you’ll learn a lot in her class without being swamped with work !!more

Post sem review!!! Personally my 1st’s Sem Best Prof! Whole class basically has this consensus that we love her! She taught biostats relatively well naman for someone who says she prefers qualitative research, but she actually really puts in effort to ensure learning in her students! Maximize consultation periods and communicate with her so she knows what you need! Grades haven’t been out yet but quizzes are generally easy, and workload is fine. She’s a bit harsh on papers/reports though (but she does give insightful comments naman so you know what to do next time). However, no gadgets allowed. Tl;dr A-B+able with effort naman i think. Take her class if you can!!more

Ma’am Michelle is a very life changing prof! Consider yourself very lucky to be assigned under her. Literally game changed my entire understanding of statistics! My only advice is to be kind and listen to her lectures very well because her approach is primarily conceptual and is heavy on application. If you don’t get the concept of the lessons, you might end up lagging behind and scoring low in tests. (Though I don’t know if this will still be her modality in botany). But no worries, Ma’am is always available for consultation and is eager to assist you in every step of the way!more

Literally such a great educator!!! She was my classmate but even just as a classmate she helped me bring up my grades like craaazy!! And when she was a teacher to HS students she was loved by all for making lessons accessible and enjoyable 💖more
