- she’s not scary when you want to ask something but if your question is kinda stupid she gets passive aggressive 🤣
- so in short i got scared to ask na coz yun nga she’s a bit scary to approach esp if u ask abt the basics
- she’ll call you out for not knowing stuff that you should’ve learned from gen chem so be sure talaga that your foundation is good bc this subject is soooo fast paced i could barely keep up

- canvas quizzes na usually open the whole day but my problem with this naman is she schedules them outside of class hours
- so let’s say you have an NSTP activity on saturdays.. that may be a bit of a problem bc she schedules quizzes on saturdays and can only excuse those who actually had NSTP for the same time slot as the quiz
- best she could do to consider those nstp people is to give an extension until morning of the next day… which is.. quite difficult din to achieve bc imagine ur so tired from ur nstp activity, u go home around evening na, then u have to answer a quiz due 7am (so u end up staying awake til midnight para lang masagutan) KAPAGOD
- quizzes are hard or at least theyd rlly make u OVERTHINK. my tip is… don’t overthink but also don’t underthink?!! labo diba
- OVERTHINK the dots, spaces, your handwriting cos i SWEARRRR she deducts points for reasons you wont even notice. if she doesnt like how you wrote even if it’s legible, she’ll deduct 0.2 or something. if the file is too big, she’ll deduct again. and even if those are small points lang, GIRLLLL THEY ADD UP🙃 halos walang nakakaperfect sa kanya.
* there was one quiz where i thought i got a perfect score kasi tama naman lahat ng sagot ko but she still found a way to deduct 0.3 kasi my small letter ‘h’ looked like the letter n ata or something
- UNDERTHINK in terms of logic… idk stick to ur gut. there were so many instances where i kept changing my answer only to find out my original answer was correct. sayang.
overall she’s super strict. the class was super heavy. i literally spent more hours to study for this class than i did for my actual major/course subjects. and in the end i still got a low grade. im just relieved im done with the class. i would never want to take this again.

also huge tip pala - answer all of her probsets. answer all the questions. i just answered some questions per probset but i think she’d really pull up ur grade if she saw na u tried ur best in answering ALL problems

Tama yung other reviews na she'll mark even the disconnected benzene and she'll shade you pa na is that a propene and ethene na magkasama lol.
*Another case is may dot sa isa kong structure and may deductions daw don coz bakit may electron?!?

-Exams: hard af. Malilito ka sa everything unless you reviewed for a month prior to the exam. If u're not good enough sa concepts ng gen chem, I'd say go back to the concepts during u're review.

-Walang drawing drawing much sa exams or konti in a sense so review well sa multcho coz thats 2 points each.
-My case nung midterms ay sa application + essay, I got <10 mistakes. Perf ko yung matching. But 28 points mistake sa multcho coz may 14 mistakes ako. Bwahahahah so focus talaga sa multcho!
Sa essay parang may partial naman so just think makaka-4/10 ka, just throw in necessary concepts pero if may di ka nasagutang 5 item multcho, minus 10 ka agad.
Others: consult pero di ka masesave ng pagmamaka-awa.
-Be prepared lagi kasi medj naiinis siya pag walang nakakaalam ng sagot sa questions niya.
-PAGDASAL MONG WALANG SUPER TALINO SA BATCH NIYO PARA IMOVE NIYA YUNG TOTAL NO. OF POINTS SA HIGHEST SCORE AHHAHSHSH

i survived thanks to orgchemtutor on youtube (he’s the best i owe my life to him ilysm) and professor dave explains.. and Leah4Sci and a bunch of other youtubers
since the class is super fast, there might be a lot of moments where u’d feel so lutang and just… floating in another dimension. i’ve been there and it’s okay. just take down notes as much as you can. know the topic lang. then once u have time, go to youtube and look for orgchemtutor’s explanation bc he’s the BEST
i hope orgchemtutor had a profs to pick post bc id rate him 10/10more

Had her last sem for Applied Org Chem Lec I and she’s ok naman!Grading: She curves!!! Requirements namin sa class niya ay 4(?) Quizzes, LT1 (100pts), LT2 (100pts), Final Exam (200(?) pts), DBoard (not really required pero highly encouraged ang students na mag sagot kasi maganda siyang prep for the LTs and gagamitin niya yung score mo here if nasa borderline yung grade mo para ma-bump up ka sa next letter grade)Teaching Style: Magaling siya magturo like madali maintindihan naman pero minsan medyo mabilis. You can always ask her naman to slow down or give more examples pa. Mahirap nga lang mga long exams niya tho. The exams are medyo different sa examples na binibigay niya in class and sa mga quizzes. And yung type ng exam is multiple choice, explain the concept, and calculations/computations/drawing of mechanisms.Classroom rules: Sa end ng session siya nagttake ng attendance. Medyo strict pero ok lang ‘di naman yung unreasonable level of strictness.more

I had Ma'am Val last sem!Ma'am Val is super kind and generous! She also teaches well but u really need to supplement your learning with the prescribed book for that subject since hindi manotes si Ma'am. Write what she writes on the board and take note of what she says kasi sometimes super important din nun. She does have a fair share of her own ppts, but the info will mostly be coming from the book. LTs are hard (personal opinion). Pero kaya siya sagutan basta practice talaga. For our reqs, we had 5 quizzes, 2 LTs and 1 final exam. Strict siya when it comes to grading, but generous magbigay ng points.Also, pro tip lang: Answer her probsets (disc boards) kahit hindi required because that will really save you at the end of the sem!!! Good luck!more

I think she was great, curved a LOOTT 😭
Teaching-wise, she’s knowledgeable and she can explain well since she really takes her time with each topic. However, near the end of the sem medj technical na siya magturo so it can be a bit harder to listen thru her lectures, but otherwise, she’s good naman
Requirement-wise ok din naman hehe 5 quizzes 2 LT and 1 final exams. She has discussion boards din tho not req, i highly recommend answering even just half of them kasi she pulls your grade up by one if you’re in between grades 🤍
Grading-wise, she curves a lot!! For our LTs she decided na the highest score will be the baseline na lang instead of 100. Some say na she’s strict with lines and signs which I agree pero i was ok with it since she also makes up for it by giving partial points even if you didn’t get the answer right at all 😭 (saving grace for essays)
Content-wise, exams were far from the examples given, so legit study hard and listen well 😭 (pero again she’s generous talaga)
Class decorum was ok as well, she takes attendance near the end of the class so even if you come in late its ok, she also lets you eat snacks which is nice for lunch and early morning sched!!
Out of all the chem profs for org chem (lab and lec included), i think she’s one of the bestmore

she expects you to know what to do once you are in class. she only guided us minimally after prelab discussions are done, like she will let you continue what you’re doing even if it’s wrong (but not at the stake of your safety). aside from that, she is great at explaining things and you will learn a lot from her. she’ll find ways to give bonus points at the end to pull your grades up if necessary. i agree with the first comment that she is meticulous in terms of conventions in writing chemistry. just do everything right and you’ll get the grades that you deserve!more

idk if it was our class specifically or she’s like this in general but she was really really strict during lab. one of my classmates messed up the setup of an experiment once and she had all these rules after.
for example absolutely no open-toe shoes, no long sleeves, no jackets (understandable), no loose hair. she was also kinda strict with our pre-labs like nitpicking some of the finer details (punctuation, capitalization etc.)
her assessments were tough but A-able. she grades pretty averagely and she’s fine overall.more

Hi I took her for inorg chem lab but this may help you gauge her teaching style.
She’s very good with giving swift and timely feedback. However, she is very particular and definitely does not curve.
Overall, totally recommend her if you want to learn in the long run but if you want to just get high grades then forget about whatever you learned, she’s not the best prof for you.more
