Idk for your class but so far its been lowkey hell for oir block because he doesnt clarify the tasks well, over loads on group works and student led discussions and we do all that on top of writing a paper proposal/worksheet thats due too early. His teaching style is not the most imtuitive for most students but thats the only part where Im chill eith it because I can just read the readings he gives (btw he uses his own research to teach so good luck when presenting about it) and be fine during quizes. Still early into the sem and ill make a comeback post when it endsmore

Anonymous member 578 yes. But He’s not the worst prof, his midterm was the easiest of all the polsci 193s. But the deadlines man,,, it’s just wack, tbf he’s a new prof so let’s hope adjustments will follow for the next batch

Low-key goated!
If you take him, you'll start seeing quantitative research in a different way. We did have our irks with him early on as a group since it's true that he's not the most organized or the best in terms of teaching (I mean some of the lecture is literally a student-led discussion tapos biglang magpapaquiz so gl nalang if the group didn't explain it well).
BUT! It is not impossible to get high scores on research papers for as long as you consult and revise accordingly. Quantitative research was supposed to be hard... Now he inspired me to take up quantitative for my thesis.
Exams being easy is true btw. Don't know if it will stay that way.more

Hi! This class is very A-able, especially if you pick good groupmates and consult with him for all your outputs.
PROS
– Sir Pernia is very nice! If you have questions about outputs or certain topics you can always approach him.
– Classes are not intimidating. It was a breeze to say the least, but sometimes he calls on students to answer, but he’s nice and doesn’t pressure you naman it’s just to ask the class their thoughts and all that.
– Most outputs were done in pairs or by groups (a pro for me because it was less pressuring than having to do solo work due by the end of the session)
– Quizzes and midterm exams were super easy! During the midterms season, I was really so out of it lol, didn’t get to study much but if you are familiar with basic quantitative/research concepts you will do great! You don’t need to memorize, more on real-world application type of tests.
CONS
– Heavy workload (done in groupworks) there are days where you cannot cut because he requires quizzes and in-class activities to be submitted by the end of the session. Group outputs are due almost every other week.
– Boring class discussions. I agree with the other comments, sometimes the discussions are a bit disorganized and could be improved pa but his teaching style does not stick.
– Uses his own research papers (included in the exams and required for student-led discussions) which is ok naman but not really great because it takes a lot of time.
OVERALL!
⭐️ Get good groupmates to help you survive the sem. So thankful for my groupmates even though we crammed a lot of outputs, we made sure to consult with sir regarding our worksheets, it helped bump our grade a lot! Got an A for this subject as well:-)
⭐️ For the worksheets and final paper, just follow the instructions and make sure to include what he wants to see in the output = ez A!more
