Had Ma'am Jesse for SocSc12!! Personality-wise, Ma'am Jesse is very chill and nice. She's a young prof and is open to a lot of things. I remember during the first day of class she told us to call her "Jesse" lang hehe. She's very approachable and will give useful feedback during consultations. Although the class itself was kinda dragging for me, you could really tell that she's very knowledgable on the subject. She also did her best to make the class engaging. During lectures, she'd ask us questions and for our opinions on various topics. She grades using a points system. It is important to note that both attendance and recitation take up a good chunk of your grade. So reciting is a must if you want to attain an A. Also for critical group reports (I think there are a total of 3, each bearing 15 points), I suggest you get good groupmates as this also takes up a good chunk of your grade. For the LTs naman, I wouldn't say that they're hard but they're definitely tricky. It consists of multiple-choice, modified true or false, and sometimes an essay. It's important to read and pay attention to the details in each item because sometimes she just switches one word lang :"(. Don't worry though!! all the items are based on her PPTs and sometimes the CGRs. Overall, Ma'am Jesse was a pretty cool prof. I don't recall being super stressed out for dis class. definitely A-able with a gud amount of effort and gud groupmates!!more

Hello! I got Jesse in SOCIO 193.1 and I was her beadle in the class. While I acknowledge that reviews here specifically ask for SA 21 and SocSc 12, I think she's a commendable professor nonetheless. Modules-wise, she's organized naman because she inserts the lecture slides and the recorded sessions sa Canvas. Comms-wise, she's more likely to reply to emails if you're a beadle, but that shouldn't hinder you from asking questions, seeking clarifications, or raising concerns to her personally. As stated in the comments above, she is truly approachable and lenient. She appreciates any cue and/or form of participation — email man 'yan, reciting during synch sessions, or just plain showing your face in the camera. Ofc, she's a social scientist and she relies on these cues (aside from your outputs) in gauging how she'll teach her students and approach the course material. Kalog siya and it really helps to — at least — try to match her energy because she values student interaction; otherwise, talagang magiging draggy yung class. teamwork is key!!!!!! best to have synergy with your groupmates since you'll be grouped for all major papers (except first which is pair). afaik groups can range from 7 to 9 members (not super sure tho) Also, you can't choose your groupmates sooooo u gotta pray to the canvas gods Also, you gotta prep yourself for recorded lectures that are in the module cause they're from guest lecturers and could take about 2 hours. I didn't watch everything tho cause the slides were very helpful naman ✌🏽😗 Grades range from A to C+ with an ave of B+/B so it is A-able but with a lot of effort cause you need to study for the quizzes which are after every module. As a som major, I only took it for the sake of an elective. Didn't really have an impact for me personally. If you enjoy this field though, very good introduction to writing policies and asean stuff :> good luck with the profs!!! they grade slow and low so you gotta hard carry. Synch sessions can be quite draggy but that's because they have a lot of info they like to share. Nice profs overall, they reply to emails and have that "im an expert" vibe but in a nice waymore

quizzes are open for the whole day so you can take it anytime within that day and we didnt have to present anything to the profs. Consultations are optional but highly encouraged especially for the final paper. All of the reqs were purely written! hope this helps:>more

owemgee i love maam so much i had her first sem last year (2023-2024) so i'll try to remember what we did during our class HAHAH but usually she just gives lectures it kinda gets boring kasi its p long and info heavy but she posts the slides naman on canvas ☻ remember to go through her slides cos all of the answers to her quizzes are there (and longtests) so super important nun afaik socsci 13 is tied up w another subj (in our case comm 23: comm for social change and nstp) and for those three subjects you only have one group cos there will be an interdisciplinary project at the end of the sem (this will be your midterms and finals) so make sure to get good groupmates since the workload can get heavy!! overall A able naman si maam, she's really nice and like madami ka rin matututunan sa kaniya cos she also shares her experiences there was a time she went abroad for work tapos may pasalubong pa siya sa amin hehe so yeah maam is very approachable and i really liked her smmore

Ma'am Jesse is very approachable and readily available for consultations and queries! I advise to not take it intersession because you won't enjoy the class too much and there is not much ample time to read through the modules and assess which items come out of the quizzes. A lot of us got B/B+/A naman so we're all good hahahaha. I'll take her for another class naman :)more

ms val cruz-claudio! not gonna lie, her quizzes were difficult since there were some items where u have to arrange the events chronologically, so yes u need to know the dates. quizzes are /10 (0.5 per item) and there are 3 quizzes for the entire course—30% of ur grade. but she gives many opportunities for bonus points (e.g., recitation, out of class activities) and i recommend u take those because like she said, its a “return on investment.” her lectures sometimes felt as if it dragged on too long huhu cause she goes on a lot of tangents, it’s kinda like kwentuhan. she’s super nice tho + motherly elle woods vibes 🥹 considerate too. you’ll be in good hands with her ! i got an A from her :))more

Workload: - Four very objective quizzes - Four discussion boards - Four module assessments (group) - One final assessment (policy brief w/ same group) Tbh they grade their reqs very slowly like you’d only get their feedback at the end of the course, which isn’t that useful when you need to build off of your previous module assessment submissions. They also graded kinda low sa final assessment (cos labo ng instructions) but if you got near perfect with all the previous reqs that’s already enough of a buffer. Got an A but it’s definitely a hassle, especially for an elective. They’re nice though cos they’re flexible with the deadlines and they curve your final grade (round up). You can also consult with them since they reply fast to emails. more

Tbh I hated it HAHA. I got a B+, but it stressed me out greatly. Four objective quizzes, two essay quizzes, 3 or 4 mini papers, and 1 final paper. All papers done by group. I felt like there were a lot of reqs (but they removed 1 quiz naman due to workload), and they had us use Respondus Browser Lockdown thing, which we all absolutely hated since it records you while you take the quiz (and your screen) + it had so many problems working for us! I also didn't like that we had to install a 3rd party software for it. I rly liked the material sana of the class, but the whole Respondus thing was rly bad. If youre fine with that, then siguro you can take it. But never again for me lols.more

not socsc13 but she's been my prof dozens of times! generally truly one of the best profs you could ever get <3 super approachable, malinaw at organized magturo. sisiguraduhin niyang mage-gets mo if nagtanong ka (as someone na lowkey namamatay inside when i was under her for a statistics (??) class 🧍🏼‍♀️). malinaw din ppts. grades very fairly, pero syempre, she expects substance. i think she just expects you to be as good a student as she is a teacher—and i mean this in a good way! she's a great prof and you come out of her class a better student :))more
