The thing about Sir Millo is that he’s not a very engaging prof and takes up the class time to discuss on topics that won’t appear on the quizzes. He’s boring, its as if you’re watching paint dry, as someone once said. Most, if not, all of the answers on the quizzes will come from the readings and the powerpoints he shows and NONE from his lectures (from what I’ve observed). I think the best way to get a high grade here besides the papers is to recite, recite, and recite. Even if it gets frustrating, sometimes he misinterprets my answers but whatever. You won’t learn much from his class but just do whatever it takes to get a good grade if you do end up picking him.

millo is actually super nice!!! but he has such high standards 😭 laki ng deductions niya for the littlest of things, and theres no way to know what he really wants. lectures are also super long and draggy. quizzes were hard but if u take notes in class and read the readings they’re passable naman. it helps though if u recite a lot and he knows u - got a B+ from him bc of that! but most of the class got B, C+, or C lolmore

NOT MILLO! He’s chill and not strict at all but you will barely learn anything!! His lectures were such a drag to go to and he talks so slow u get distracted and lose point of what he’s saying. He also mispronounces words/terms. I only understood the lessons by self teaching and they are not easy topics and his readings are chapters from books. His tests are hard and tricky. Reading through the questions they seem “easy” but answering them was confusing. Only 2 people passed in our first test and their scores were a point above the passing score and the passing score. It’s also quite discouraging to recite bc he’ll try to “debate” you but it’s in a way that he just wants to make sure u understand what ure saying. The only good thing I’d say is since he’s not strict at all u can flat out not pay attention in class and he won’t say anything. He grades high naman for essays and group work. He’s not the worst prof in the world but he definitely is not interesting or engaging.more

I don't know why people say run from sir art but he's not that bad! You just won't learn much from him but he is A-able (trust me) if you put in the effort. If you recite often and he remembers your name, you'll probably have an okay grade. Genuinely for his essays just consult since he's approachable. As for his quizzes, medyo mahirap siya because you have to read in-between the lines. Just do your best langmore

hi!! i had sir abletis during 1st sem 2425, and assuming his workload hasn’t changed: - expect 5 online quizzes about the assigned readings! these are usually by topic and not rlly based on his onsite lectures. test types are mulcho, TF and occasionally identification (for specific terms/systems) - 2 individual papers (intro to modernity and talab-related) and 2 group papers (one is enlightenment related and the other is a reflection on the group presentation). he looks for specific keywords/points tlga and can kinda spot bola,,, he also likes concise papers! as such, he may not grade as high But not super low naman ^^ roughly B/B+ average for papers, possible A with effort - group presentation about an assigned article that covers a relevant, specific social issue in the PH. grading here is: 1/3 of the grade from sir, another 1/3 from random classmate #1 and the last 1/3 from random classmate #2. in our case sir graded fairly naman on his part - no recits whatsoever in his classes!more

At first, I wasn’t super into his class because the readings were long and I couldn’t seem to perfect the mini essays. Looking back now though, he wasn’t so bad. A couple of reasons why: - His lectures are pretty cool. He encourages like discussions in class on topics that (seemed to be) debatable. - He has this webinar accreditation system. You can get maximum plus 2% to your final grade if you attend two webinars and integrate what you’ve learned into your submissions. - He pushed back most of our deadlines by two weeks HAAHAH Basta, if you end up in his class, just remember to: - Read the readings and make sure they’re well integrated into your submissions like read the rubric ganun - Make reviewers for the exams (based on lecture + reading) - Feel free to like make essays personal and argumentative and like theoretical because he’s into thatmore

After reading the reviews here I initially thought that the semester would be hard because of socsci. However, I hardly had enough time to perform my best for the subject and still got a reasonably high grade. Sir Abletis is a really great teacher, he is genuinely passionate about teaching and is very lenient with the deadlines. One of the best things in his subject is that he allots extra days beyond the deadline for quizzes and other requirements. The only caveat I had for this was that the readings were very long and sometimes confusing. Overall, if you ever have a chance to be his student, go for it! Edit: This is for the online setting and he might've changed because of the earlier reviews on this post.more

Took Abletis as an overload intersession sub and I can say A-able with effort! One of the subjects where required readings are actually required, so please take them seriously! Your performance in your quizzes and essays will largely depend on your understanding of the readings and modules. Readings (and all other material) are definitely on the longer end, so make sure you dedicate some time to really absorb things. Sir Abletis is a very considerate prof, as in I can’t remember a deadline he didn’t extend or postpone, but prepare for pretty long-winded sync sessions! Despite the info density of this course and the fact that I took it as an overloaded sub during intersession, I can’t say I regretted it naman? HAHAHA if you happen to have some form of interest in SocSc in any way, try taking him during a reg sem :>more

Hes a really good and understanding prof. Theres a lot of redings but if you read the modules youll get the gist of it. Make sure you attend as much synch class as you can, possible for bonuses. Also make sure to properly cite your sources in your papers so you dont get minus points. Hope that you get good groupmates because theyll be with you for a number of papers. B-able with little effort. Possible to get an A if you really put good effortmore

Got him online last semester and I think he's alright. He wasn't strict with attendance and always posted his synchronous sessions on time. Very lenient with deadlines and he even extended our final essay deadline by a week or two when we asked. The other reviews will say his quizzes and LTs are difficult and they're completely right. My section was completely blindsided for the first LT since he has a tendency to ask for the most obscure details from the readings like dates, acronyms, and names. If you like memorizing then this is the class for you. His other requirements include a photo and video essay which can be quite a hassle, but again, he's very lenient with deadlines. You will need to find good groupmates though, and sir has a very low tolerance for freeloaders so keep that in mind (he'll deduct at most 30% of your final grade if your groupmates don't think you helped with the photo and video essay projects). Got an A in his class so he's definitely A able, and I think he curves. I remember getting only an average of 24/50 for 2 major requirements but decent on both essays. Overall not a chill class but could definitely be worse. 7/10more

currently taking this class rn reqs wise - HEAVY af but manageable (he gives the following reqs below) - 3 discussion boards - 2 bonus reflection papers (which youd need to attend the talks to do) - 5 short essays (so far) - 2 major requirements (1 midterm and 1 final paper) - 1 group presentation - most essays requires an application of any framework/theory to exemplify the points made - grading wise: you definitely need to exert effort to get a grade higher than 85 - he grades fair naman but he only gives high if he thinks you deserve it sir as a prof/class proper itself - its a very chill class - theres a seating arrangement (you can choose where you sit then the beadle will submit the seating arrangement to him but he doesnt really use it much) - beadle is in charge of attendance - you can choose your groups for the group presentation - most of the time sir just yaps about the topics with occasional supplementary videos - theres also a few guest lecturers sometimes (when sir gets busy) but its interesting because the guest lecturer we had showcased acupuncture (a few classmates got a free acupuncture session) overall, you'll learn a lot if you're really interested/passionate about the topic but otherwise it might be difficult. i wouldnt say this is an easy A class but rather an easy B-B+ with effortmore

Had sir Ang for 2nd Sem 2024-2025 (am a graduating senior) but I really enjoyed his class! Pros: Sir is super passionate about the topics discussed and is very knowledgeable about global issues and the involvements of China as a world power today. For reqs, Many of them were quite easy as long as you do your research and follow his recommendations (send him your drafts and he will tell you how to improve). Major reqs were 2 essays that he gives the prompts for at the start of the sem and one group reporting which is about any topic that involves China’s tech and innovation. Sir also has fun activities in class to simulate some of the scenarios China went through (he gives free food during this haha) Sir also doesn’t seem to really count attendance and he gives unlimited cuts for Deans listers. Cons: Sirs lectures aren’t that engaging if you don’t find the topics interesting but he really appreciates recitation. For the essay reqs he recommends using a framework of sorts to structure the paper but he isn’t super clear on examples so sometimes you have to just find a framework online. Class won’t be super interesting if you aren’t interested in global topics and China’s development as a country/ involvement as a global power. Class topics: Science and Tech in Chinese history and past, some of the developments made during significant eras (dynasties, mao, current), Notable developments in the current decade for China and issues happening right now. TLDR: If you like the topics then you will do really well and enjoy the class. If you don’t, as long as you do your research and take note of some key concepts then you’ll be fine. Easy B+/A id say as long as you don’t submit anything late, do the right research and recite once in a while. Got an A from him and would definitely recommend!more

Hiii I was sir’s beadle last semester so here’s my take hehe Sir Ang is super passionate about the topics and really knows his stuff—especially on China’s role in the world today. Most of the requirements are straightforward if you do proper research and follow his suggestions. He’s generous with feedback, so send your drafts early and he’ll help you improve. Major requirements include: • Two essays (prompts given at the start of the sem) • One group report on anything related to China’s tech/innovation There are also fun simulation activities (he gives food during these!), and he doesn’t strictly check attendance. Dean’s Listers even get unlimited cuts. Cons: If you’re not into China/global politics, the lectures might feel a bit dry. He encourages using frameworks for essays, but he’s not always clear about what kind, so you might need to look for examples online. Class really depends on your interest in the subject—if it’s not your thing, it can drag a bit.
